Hotels near Ginsyadan, Kyoto

It's a nice hotel with a good location, easy enough to find from the train station. The rooms are clean and cozy. What was disappointing was the service at front desk. Not friendly or welcoming at all as compared to our stay in other cities like Osaka. We were even shuned away for breakfast as we wore the traditional Yukatas that were provided by the hotel, as the front desk said we couldn't wear it at the breakfast lounge and had to either go back up to change or we could take a small box of bread and pastries (that were cold) and we could eat in our rooms instead.

This hotel is located right near the intersection of Shijo Horikawa. I checked in at midnight, but the front desk was kind and I was able to respond without a disgusting face. The room was clean and the amenities were substantial, and there was a USB port for charging, which was very helpful. However, probably because it was a premise to use a large communal bath, there was only a shower booth in the room. It may be a negative for those who want to slowly soak in the bathtub in the room. Personally, I was happy with the large communal bath, so there was no problem at all. It was also good that the transportation was convenient. From the Shijo Horikawa bus stop, you can go not only to Kyoto Station, but also to famous tourist spots such as Kinkakuji, Kiyomizu-dera, Toji, Nijo Castle, Arashiyama, and you can go to Gion and downtown Kawaramachi without changing trains. You will need to change trains once, but you can also go to Nanzenji Temple and Ginkakuji Temple. If you walk a little, you will find Hankyu Omiya Station and Arashiden Shijo Omiya Station, and it is very accessible for sightseeing or business. There is a Family Mart just south of the hotel, and there are 7-Eleven ahead, so you don't have to worry about a little shopping. The accommodation fee was reasonable and it is a recommended hotel.

It looks like a machiya hotel along an alley in a residential area, but there is a large dining space and a communal kitchen in the lobby on the first floor. It is a newly built hotel that was just built this year, and there are 3 washing machines on each floor, which is very convenient for long stays. The rooms are full of beds, but the bathrooms are average size and the rooms with kitchens are said to be slightly larger. Just like a one-room apartment, there are many people who stay for a long time, and it seems that all the guests are getting along well with the kind men at the front desk and the international student staff, just like a boarding house. I felt it.

Nice and clean hotel, good location to browse the city. The staff are kind and friendly. The rooms are not big but family of 3 with one big piece of luggage can easily fit in. Japanese style room is very charming but you might need some time to adjust to a mattress firmness. The breakfast selection is rather limited and repetitive.

The hotel looks dated from the outside, is very modern in the lobby with machines for checking in and out, and then the rooms are also quite dated. The hotel is quite big, and you can be unfortunate to get a room far away from the lifts. The rooms are decent and clean. The bathroom is okay, but there wasn’t much caulk next to the shower so the water from the shower that hit the wall was just sliding down underneath the bath… very strange. On each floor there is one room where you can get ice and water, it also has a vending machine.

When visiting Kyoto, we wanted to enjoy some time in an onsen resort so we decided to spend two nights in Ogoto Onsen. After checking the details in their website, we booked a ”Biwa no kaze”room with private onsen and view of Lake Biwako. And we were not disappointed. The room looks newly renovated, and is very spacious with two beds and sitting area plus a tatami room. They offer different dinner packages, and we have chosen crab with steak as the main dishes for the first night, and lobster with shabu-shabu the second night. The foods were of very high quality, tasted and looked very nice. The breakfast buffet was very good with a wide selection of different items. The ryokan is excellent in nearly all aspects. We would stay here again when we next visit Kyoto.

It is very fast to get to Arashiyama and there are beautiful scenery to see on the way! Many people are taking photos at Hojinkyo Station. It’s not expensive during the maple leaf season, it includes breakfast, and you can even take a bath! ! The night shift counter lady is very cute😏! ! ! ! ! And English is very good! Single decisive exchange phone numbers! The room was clean. There were no people on the street at night. My view was of the hotel and apartment opposite, but the space in the middle was very open and felt comfortable. Most of the guests I see are Japanese. It takes two minutes to the subway station, and there is also aeon, Mitsuhide Akechi statue and castle nearby. It’s not too far from Kyoto Station, a 30-minute drive.
