Hotels near JR Tofukuji Station, Kyoto

My family and I planned a trip to Osaka and Kyoto. Our original plan was to stay in Kyoto. We reserved a room at the Randor Residential Hotel Kyoto Suites for 3 nights as the reviews were very positive and the rate was exceptional. We reviewed the cancellation policy and understood it as saying the room is refundable provided cancellation occurs 7 days prior to arrival. Soon after booking the room, our family decided it would be best to stay in Osaka as opposed to Kyoto. We cancelled the room at the Randor. This was 8 days prior to our planned arrival, however, I noticed that I was not refunded for the stay. I called customer service at the third party site from which we booked (I was unable to find a direct website for the hotel) as it is their policy they should communicate directly with the hotel. They contacted the hotel and were told their policy was that the cancellation must occur ”7 days prior to the day prior to arrival” and that they would not refund the money as a result. I felt this wording was odd as I have stayed at hotels all of the world and know that cancellation policies typically do not reference ”the day prior to the day prior to arrival”, however, recognized that perhaps I had misunderstood. I instead requested to have the room back since we were still making the trip, had not yet reserved another hotel, and my money would not be refunded. I was told that there were no other rooms available. I viewed my travel dates on multiple websites and saw that there were many other rooms available at this hotel. If the hotel did not plan to refund me, and there were still rooms available on my travel dates, I was unclear as to why I could not be given an available room. The hotel said they would need to speak with their manager and that he would return the following day. I followed up on this concern daily, however, everyday that we called (during normal business hours in Japan) the manager was not available to discuss this concern. To add insult to injury, the website now said that the cancellation policy was that cancellations should occur ”3 days prior to the day of arrival” and the policy continued to change with each day. We ended up losing our money and having to scramble to find a room at another hotel the day before our trip. I had not booked another room because I have been living in Japan for two years and become accustomed to outstanding customer service. I was not requesting a refund and there were many rooms still available at the hotel, so I was confident that the hotel would make good on my request for ANY room, but it seems this was not the case. I certainly understand policies as I make them routinely at my own job, however, if something is a ”policy” it should not change from day to day. I will be more than happy to speak to a representative from Randor about my experience in hopes of improving customer service for future patrons.

There is a private paid (1000 yen) parking lot just north of the hotel. It is convenient because the car can be in and out on the way. I stayed ３ for a single on the eight floor in a 9-story hotel. The service from ６ in the afternoon is great. What a free rice and miso soup. The accustomed guests brought a little side dishes in advance and were eating. ８ from the month to the service only on weekdays. The room is independent air conditioning, the floor is flooring and carpet. A slightly hard and comfortable bed, WIFI is fast and comfortable. The number of outlets is also enough. The tea service was equipped with coffee, tea, cups and glasses, and even a tea spoon that was only more than a luxury hotel. The bathroom is unit type, and the bathtub is a little more legs, but (a little luxury?) Mineral water １ this service is unnecessary. The microwave oven and ice are in front of the front desk on the first floor, so it is also suitable for consecutive nights. Breakfast is ５００ yen. From the richness of the contents of the menu, it is quite reasonable. It is a hotel full of services that is best rented bicycles (paid but cheap) for sightseeing in Kyoto.

Good location, about 7mins walk from JR Kyoto station. Hotel room was a little small, with a very basic TV (no Netflix or Chromecasting, only Japanese channels). Bottled water was also not provided in the room, but instead they have a water dispenser at the lobby. Had to pay a fee of 2400yen for 2 rooms (3 nights) upon checking in.

Advantages: The location is very good. It is a few minutes walk to the subway station. There is 711 opposite. It is very convenient to buy breakfast and late night snacks. Datang is very spacious. You can buy breakfast from 711 and eat here. The service is very friendly. Disadvantages: The toilet is too small. Another big problem is that the wifi is often disconnected. Not only is it stuck, but the network is often disconnected and does not work. I think this problem should be easily improved. Overall, the price and location are very cost-effective. If the wifi can be improved, I will choose here again next time. The fact that 711 is right downstairs is a plus.

Hotel is super central - within a few minutes walk to JR Kyoto station and a 7/11 about two mins walk away. My main goal was to do day trips from Kyoto so this was perfect. It is a bit cramped but you can slide your luggage under the bed. The hotel chain offers really comfortable pillows (which you can also buy). The specific room type had no bathroom, with the shower being near the entrance and the sink situated close to the bed. I personally didn’t mind this but might be something to be aware of.

The location was right beside Kyoto station and easily accessible. The room was spacious and with a smart TV?! Major win. There’s even a separate laundry room and dryer and sauna their customers can use. They also provided baggage storage when the room is not ready yet. Even after checking out, they allowed us to leave our baggage with them to go get a quick bite before heading to the airport. Great service and vibes. Will definitely book this hotel again for my next trip!

The location is very convenient, suitable for going to Kiyomizu Temple early in the morning. Service: Hotel operation is very cost-effective. There is only one front desk on duty at any time, and the front desk is also responsible for room inspections. When you go to the front desk, you may not be able to find someone and need to wait, or call their mobile phone. The number is left on On the front desk. In addition, there is no bottled water in the room, and there is no water dispenser on the floor. I don’t know if there is one at the front desk. Really budget hotel. Hygiene: When I entered the room, I saw a piece of transparent cellophane on the floor, which is used to wrap straws. When I took a shower at night, I opened the shower curtain and was shocked to see the dense stains on the inside of the shower curtain. I lent the room to Hitchcock for filming. ”Psycho”? If not, just get a new shower curtain, it’s not expensive either. In addition, the water coming out of the water pipe is milky white and opaque. When I took a video, I couldn't see the bottom of the cup. It will become clear after about 10 seconds. I don’t know what water purification technology it is.

This was by far the best accommodation we stayed in during our trip to Japan. I was a bit hesitant to book it as other reviews said it’s far away from everything, but it’s not. A short/cheap taxi from the train station (1000-1200 Yen) self-serve check in and self-serve luggage storage (which was a blessing!) We stayed in an apartment, spacious, modern, clean, separate bedroom, washer/dryer, bath and shower and full kitchen. I would live in this apartment if I could! There are staff in the reception area during certain times if you need help. The bus stop is right around the corner. Food options nearby.
