"It takes about 30 minutes from the central station by s-Bahn.
I think it is perfect for those who want to stay at a cheap price.
It was old, but it was a level that I didn't care about if I stayed for a short time.
But the walls are thin, and you can hear the voices calling in the nearby room, or the sound of the gap wind.
The dryer was lent at 10€. (10€ will come back when returning the dryer.)"

"The room was small, poorly soundproofed, and had no air conditioning. The facilities were also quite outdated. Most disturbingly, my colleague's room door was opened in the middle of the night. We were told the front desk had assigned the wrong room, which was pretty unsettling."

"This hotel is excellent. It has a very old English feel which makes you feel comfortable. That, plus the very friendly and helpful service-orientated nature of the staff made this stay very pleasant indeed.
The amenities are also comfortable, the food is excellent and there is plenty of space to relax."

"Ich hab um 14 Uhr eingecheckt meine Sachen im Zimmer abgestellt. Dann ins Vabali rüber, als ich um 23 Uhr abends im Zimmer war, stand dort Tabak und ein Rucksack und orientalisches Essen. Telefonisch keiner erreichbar. Ich habe fast die ganze Nacht vor Angst kein Auge zu gemacht. Um 6.45 Uhr klopfen an meiner Tür . Zwei südländische Handwerker wollten ins Zimmer, ich habe mich sehr erschrocken. Sie haben ihre Sachen genommen und sind gegangen. Ich hab mich später an der Rezeption beschwert, es hieß tut uns leid, die Mitarbeiter haben die Zimmer Nummern verwechselt. Unglaublich, als Frau allein im Hotel"

"We stayed there for the second time and everything was great again. Although the room is quite small, it has everything you need. Breakfast was very delicious. Great that we could check in after prior agreement 22Uhr. We're happy to come back."

AAnonymous UserThis hotel is very similar to a Japanese business hotel and was incredibly practical. It's just about walkable from the central station, and since the path is mostly flat, it was fine even with a large suitcase. There's also a supermarket about a 5-minute walk away.
On the first floor, you can enjoy unlimited coffee, cappuccino, and hot chocolate from a machine. Tea bags for black tea and green tea are also available. Plus, there's a very convenient self-service section with snacks, sandwiches, and instant cup noodles.

I had another wonderful stay at the Hampton by Hilton in Hamburg — this was actually my second time here. The first time I stayed with my mother, and this time with my fiancée, and both experiences have been consistently great.
The service is excellent. The staff are always smiling, very kind, and extremely polite, which really makes you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Everything about the hotel feels lovely and well taken care of.
The gym is nice and well-equipped, perfect if you want to keep up your routine while traveling. Breakfast is amazing — plenty of options and everything fresh and tasty, definitely one of the highlights of the stay.
The location is also fantastic. It’s close to public transport (there’s a tram stop nearby), making it easy to get around the city. There’s also a great falafel/döner spot close by if you’re looking for a late-night snack, which was a fun bonus. Plus, it’s very close to Westfield, where you can enjoy the scenery and find lots of nice restaurants and shops.
Overall, an amazing stay once again. Thank you to the whole team — I’ll definitely be back.

GGuest UserIch fand das Hotel immer so so schön Badezimmer war unfassbar schön. Die Zimmer waren unfassbar schön die Möbel waren genauso geil hingestellt. Alles fallen einfach schön. Ich würde das Hotel immer weiter empfehlen und immer da hingehen weil ich jetzt in Hamburg bin. Danke für den schönen Aufenthalt

SSweetzhulinghunThis hotel is located near the train station and is relatively inexpensive. It's very convenient for transportation and there are many restaurants nearby. However, being close to the station, there seemed to be a lot of homeless people around. The hotel itself felt very secure though, as the doors were always kept closed.

GGuest UserA great hotel for a few days. The staff was very friendly and helpful and breakfast was really good. Most of the fresh fruit salad convinced me. The flat is quite narrow, and the fact that you come into the parking house only after check-in was not directly visible. But in all, it is absolutely recommended to continue

GGuest UserОтель находится рядом озером. Есть где прогуляться заняться пробежкой. Вечером на озере с отличным видом можно поужинать. Сам отель удивил спокойным чистым но ером в дополнительно зданни с балконом во внутренний двор, но в номере нет ни холодильника ни столовых принадлежностей. Есть халаты и тапочки. В общем можно рекомендовать если район устраивает (15 минут пешком до главного ЖД вокзала).

GGuest UserNice hotel in the middle of the city, right next to the central station. Clean and fresh, and the breakfast was very good. We enjoyed our 2-night stay here and i wouldn’t mind staying here when visitibg Hamburg again.
Worth knowing, the hotel has 2 small elevators, one of which was closed for repairs causing long waiting times(especially around breakfast times) if you cant use the stairs for some reason.

GGuest UserThe hoste provides the bare minimum in terms of amenities and cleanliness. While it is functional enough for a short stay, the overall quality feels very much in line with the low price. Facilities are basic, and the atmosphere is not particularly comfortable or welcoming. It’s not a terrible place to stay, but it’s also not somewhere I would confidently recommend to others unless they are simply looking for the cheapest option and have very low expectations.

Yes, the building (a&o Hamburg Reeperbahn, formerly Hotel Stern, address Reeperbahn 152/154) actually has a connection to the Nazi era - it was not a direct concentration camp or large concentration camp, but it was used as a forced labour camp in 1940.
The exact connection (based on historical sources):
• The house was built in 1891 as a Logierhaus Concordia - a cheap lodging house for poor men (e.g. Sailors, travellers without a permanent residence). It had 235 small single rooms, shared toilets and was typical for the rough harbour and red light district of St. Pauli.
• In the Nazi era (especially from the 1930s), the house was often used by the porters (caretakers) to denounce (advertise) guests. Many men (e.g. B. homosexuals, ***********, ”asocials”) were arrested there and imprisoned - this was unfortunately common in Hamburg's ”Kiez”.
• From August 1940: There was a forced labour camp of Deutsche Werft AG (a large Hamburg shipyard). The company used the existing building as accommodation for forced labourers - prisoners of war (POWs), civilians deported from occupied countries and from 1944 also prisoners from concentration camps (concentration camp subcamps). The shipyard had several such camps (mainly in Finkenwerder and harbour area), and this one in the Reeperbahn was one of them. Exact numbers (how many people, conditions) are not well documented, but it was part of the huge system of forced labour in Hamburg (a total of 400,000–500,000 people affected).
• A Stolperstein biography mentions e.g. B. that a French woman had to perform forced labour in 1944 as a kitchen assistant in the Reeperbahn 154 Foreign Home (during pregnancy) before she came to another camp.
After the war it became a normal tourist home again, converted into an Eros Centre (a large *******) in 1964, later refugee accommodation (in the 80s very dilapidated), then from 1999 Hotel Stern and 2009 a&o.
Well. We had a real good sleep anyway.
