This hotel, a former monastery, has a lot of authentic York character. It's right by the river, and the view from the window gives off a very medieval vibe. It's about a twenty-minute walk from the train station, and Shambles and the Minster are both within easy walking distance. The heating in the hotel was very good and warm, and the traditional English breakfast was quite nice.
The only downside was a rather unpleasant check-in experience. The elderly British lady at the front desk was incredibly rigid, and I felt there was a hint of discrimination. We had two breakfasts included, but she insisted that children couldn't eat, even though there were only two of us. It's really hard to understand the mindset of some older British people. However, the breakfast restaurant manager was lovely and kept asking if I wanted to bring anything for my husband, even offering an extra children's meal when I explained it was just the two of us. Thankfully, Trip.com resolved the issue quickly, smoothing over the unpleasantness so it didn't impact our trip.
Overall, I think the hotel is good, but that elderly British person at the front desk really needs to adjust her attitude!

This Hilton hotel is located within York city center, which is a pretty good location. The service was decent, and breakfast was your typical 'Western' style, with a good variety of options. As a Hilton Silver member, they don't offer complimentary bottled water like they do for Gold members, but if you ask at the front desk, they'll kindly give you some cookies. Plus, not having to pay a deposit at check-in was very convenient.

I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton York for a short visit and, while the location was reasonably convenient, the overall experience fell short of expectations for a Hilton-branded hotel.
I was upgraded to a room located across the car park from the main building, accessed via stairs and without central heating. Instead, the room relied on standing portable heaters, which wasn’t ideal — especially given the wet weather and the need to walk outside to reach the room. The room itself felt quite tired and dated, with noticeably creaky floorboards both inside the room and from neighbouring rooms, which made it hard to fully relax.
The location is decent enough, but if you’re travelling by public transport there are better areas of York to stay in that offer easier access and a nicer overall setting.
I didn’t try the breakfast, as there are plenty of good local options nearby, which I enjoyed instead, so I don’t feel I missed out. One small disappointment was that coffee wasn’t available outside of breakfast hours.
Overall, with so many good accommodation options in York, I’m not likely to stay here again.

It was listed out on December 25th and someone was cleaning the trash. But when I went out on the 26th, no one cleaned the place, and the garbage piled up like a hill, which was quite unhygienic. not good.

The hotel's location is quite convenient, about a ten-minute walk to the Reeperbahn. However, the hotel itself is old and a bit eerie. The room layout was messy, and the bed quality was so bad that my back hurt after just one night. There are definitely management issues here. I had pre-paid for my room through Trip.com, but the hotel double-charged my credit card. Even after I pointed it out, the charge still went through. I had to contact them through Trip.com and then email the hotel directly to get the duplicate charge refunded.
Trip.com showed an 11 AM checkout time, and from 11 AM onwards, a loud bell kept ringing in my room, about once a minute. When I asked the front desk about it during checkout, they said it was a daily fire alarm drill. However, when I mentioned this in my email to the hotel requesting a refund, they denied it, claiming their checkout time was 12 PM.
To make matters worse, I forgot my down jacket on the bed when I left. About two minutes later, I remembered and went back to retrieve it, only to find someone already cleaning the room. He asked if I was looking for clothes and pointed to the floor. My white down jacket was thrown on the floor with the bedsheets. I felt terrible at that moment. I had just left, and they were already cleaning, which means they saw me go. Why didn't they immediately notify the front desk to send my jacket there? This definitely doesn't feel like the service you'd expect from a chain hotel. There are clear problems with their service, management, and staff training. I'd advise everyone to avoid this place.

Hotel is situated right opposite Clifton tower and is conveniently located within. The city centre - walking distance to the Shambles and other attractions. The parking situation is problematic - although aware it is first come first served, there is nowhere available to park up and ask except the three spaces in front of the hotel and if taken, you end up circling the road for an absolutely age before a space becomes available. If no parking on site end up parking over the road on public car park which is inconvenient as keep having to work out when to renew. The cleanliness is a slight issue, we thought there was dust on surfaces but more likely to be cloth fibres from the cleaners but still don't expect shedding like this. Room was fine but did think bathroom was on the smaller side for a double deluxe room. Service in general was good - couldn't really fault.

Business travellers will appreciate the proximity to York's corporate business district, in addition to work facilities such as a 24-hour business center and a boardroom that can be reserved for meetings or events.
Complimentary breakfast is served every morning in the hotel restaurant, and a variety of popular local restaurants and pubs are within walking distance. Come and go as you please - a day trip in a neighbouring city is as easy as a short walk to York Railway Station.

The hotel's location is quite convenient. After exiting York station, you just walk around the city walls, and you'll be there in about ten minutes. The room generally felt quite new and very quiet, making for a comfortable stay. York isn't very big to begin with, so all the main attractions are within walking distance from the hotel. Although the breakfast selection wasn't extensive, it was definitely enough to fill you up. 👍

Clean and tidy!
Excellent service and happy environment !
Nice and big kitchen with big and classic dining room.
Very good!
The Best Western York Pavilion Hotel is a truly stunning hotel in York, offering peace and tranquility just a mile outside of the center. A brisk 25 minute walk along the river will lead you into the heart of the city, where you can tick off some of the best attractions Yorkshire has to offer. The hotel itself is a Georgian grade II listed country house, with spectacular landscaped gardens, lawns and a courtyard fit for a fairy tale.
York is one of the country’s most fascinating cities, with countless things to do and see. York’s Roman walls, the train museum, the ancient ruins and York Minster are all within a working distance of the hotel. As is Clifford’s Tower, which offers some breath-taking panoramic views of York that will be sure to make you fall in love with the city. If you’re coming by car, we recommend checking out some of the surrounding attractions. Eden camp is just a 30 minute drive from the hotel, and is one of the UK’s largest museums on British militarily and social history. Flamingo land is also just a 30 minute drive, and a superb family day out - with a both a zoo and rides for a jam packed outing.
The hotels brasserie is award-winning and will be there to serve you some fantastic fine dining dishes after a busy day. You will enjoy the gorgeous food next to a welcoming fire and beautiful view of the garden. For something a little more informal, the hotels Parisian bar is ideal as it offers just as much style as the brasserie, but in a relaxed setting.
So, if you’re looking for a blissful escape from everyday life, that’s still within walking distance of the historic city center, then the Best Western York Pavilion Hotel is just what you need.

Very comfortable stay. We arrived on 4 April. Greeted by a most helpful, friendly and polite receptionist. Location perfect, bus to York city centre was across the road from the hotel and ran every 10 minutes up to 11pm. The room was extremely comfortable with a comfortable bed, black out blind and the shower was very powerful. Breakfast was cooked to order with a variety of cereals fruit and pastries also available. It was a delicious breakfast and again the staff were very polite, efficient and friendly. I would most definitely stay here again.

Great
LLauren MintoWe had the most gorgeous stay at No.1 Guest House - if there wasn’t so much to see and do in York we would have happily just stayed in and enjoyed the hotel all weekend. The staff were amazing, especially Ellie, who made us feel so welcome and couldn’t do enough for us. We loved just sitting in the bar area with a cocktail (the rosy margarita was amazing) and looking at all the art and the cute steam train. The hotel is sooo cosy and perfect for this time of year. We will definitely be back!
GGuest UserThe location is not close to the railway station, although it is not far from the city centre since York is quite small, so most attractions are still within walking distance.
Unfortunately, cleanliness was not satisfactory. When using the air conditioner, we could smell dust in the air. The carpet felt dusty, and the towels were not white enough and showed heavy signs of use. The table and cupboard in the room were also quite old-fashioned, and you can clearly feel their age rather than a modern hotel standard.
On the positive side, the service was very good. All staff were friendly, and the breakfast staff in particular were very kind and helpful.
However, I would not recommend choosing the breakfast-included option. It is overpriced and honestly the worst hotel breakfast I’ve tried in terms of taste. You can easily find much better and more cost-effective breakfast options just outside the hotel within very convenient walking distance.
Overall, friendly staff and decent location, but the cleanliness and room condition really need improvement, and the breakfast is not worth the money.
BBonniegiftYork is a small historical city, this hotel inherits the city culture. British-style separate yard, tall black gate. Friendly uncle-level reception. The hotel is a bit old, the maintenance is very good, the room has a kettle, the necessary toiletries, the shower open in a variety of ways, and the small snacks are also prepared. Health is OK, the quality of the bed is also good. In short, it is a good experience
HHAIHUI GUOWe had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, making check-in a breeze and offering great recommendations. We loved the convenient on-site laundry facilities, which came in handy during our trip. The location is perfect – just a short walk from the river, with stunning views that made our evenings truly memorable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for comfort and scenic beauty!
GGuest UserI've stayed at this hotel before and I will definitely be staying again. The location is ideal for me with easy access to the city centre either by walking, bus, or taxi. The rooms have always been very clean and a good size too. The buffet style breakfast is always superb and leisure facilities give you a chance to unwind in the pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room.
The staff have always been pleasant, friendly, and polite.
5 stars from me!
CchristanneWe booked a standard double as we only wanted somewhere to have dinner and lay our heads to break 2 long journeys. We were prepared for a 'tired' looking room and it was, in fact just that. HOWEVER, both the room and bathroom were spotless; the bed absolutely huge with nice linens and the shower in the morning was spot on for temperature. Service from beginning to end was fantastic and, though I didn't have it myself, my husband said the breakfast was excellent. We travel both locally and internationally a lot and i rarely comment as many 4-5* hotels just go through the motions however, I wanted to give this hotel and team a well deserved shout out. We shall certainly be back and recommend to anyone looking for a very good place to stay on the outskirts of York.
GGuest UserThere are many small roads to drive to the hotel. It gets dark early in winter, but fortunately there are not many cars. When you arrive at the hotel, you will feel refreshed. The environment is very good and the hotel layout is also very tasteful. The bed is soft but supportive, and it is comfortable to sleep. The breakfast restaurant has a beautiful view and several breakfast options are available.
GGuest UserFront desk service without a smile. Evening restaurant staff lacking warmth. Pool cold. Children’s area dirty. Room was basic but clean. Breakfast staff were fabulous.
YYeziA small villa, the room is clean and tidy, very warm and quiet, the service is very good and warm, we live on the 3rd floor, there is no elevator, the suitcase is the store to help get the room, parking is also convenient. The environment of Zhou is good, and it is convenient to travel. It takes 20 minutes to walk along the river to see the tourist attractions in the downtown area. Only breakfast is very expensive. Two nights a day is a pleasant experience.
GGuest UserIt's an older Holiday Inn. The cleanliness was good, though the bathroom was incredibly tiny, and the elevators were showing their age. The front desk staff were great, and they offer free luggage storage. A crucial tip: when taking the bus from the train station to the hotel, make sure to tell the driver your stop beforehand, otherwise, the bus might easily skip it!
