Hotels near Cliffords Tower in York

Very elegant old-style villa, the breakfast is very rich and delicious, the stay is also very comfortable, and the cost performance is super high! York is very quiet, and the people I met along the way are very friendly. I couldn't swipe my card in the public toilet on Butcher Street, but a local brother saw that I swiped his card and let me in. Thank you for being such a good person! This time I traveled by myself, my English was terrible, but the experience was actually quite good, haha, I recommend everyone to stay and play~

A solid 3 star experience but not more than that. They say they offer bike courier pick up for your luggage from the train station, but I didn't get sent any information about how to book it, every time I tried to call I couldn't get through to a human, and when I eventually found an email address to contact about it, no one replied. We were put in a room on the very top floor right after the heat wave, the temperature up there was still so warm, could feel it going up in as we ascended the stairs, but I couldn't open the window in the room very much without bugs flying in. They provided a small fan but it didn't do much. Our room was cramped, not really anywhere to store your luggage and the bathroom's only surface space to put your things was a ledge above the toilet which I didn't like. On the other hand, all the people we spoke to at reception were friendly and helpful, the location was convenient and the pantry was appreciated.

Beautiful hotel only 10 minutes walk from the city centre  Our room was clean and cosy  In the room was hairdryer, iron and ironing board as well as tea/coffee facilities and an electric fan which was definitely needed with temps reaching 29 degrees 🥵 The outdoor area was stunning with lots of seating and little pods to dine in of an evening very pretty all lit up at night  All the staff were friendly and helpful  We will definitely return in the near future.

Very close to the train station, just a few minutes' walk away (it seems like cutting through the adjacent George House is the quickest route). There's no bottled water provided, but the hotel's tap water is drinkable. An electric kettle is available. The Western-style breakfast has a good variety. The room is quiet and spacious. The two bath towels weren't together; one was in the bathroom and the other in the sliding wardrobe. The bed is wide and comfortable.

The Galtres... A perfect place to stay in York. Location is great, central, surrounded by pubs, shops, bars, restaurant, a few steps from York Minster, couple of minutes walk to the Shambles, 13 minute walk from the train station. Our room was spotless, checking in was easy, arrived 3 hours early, but room was ready so accessed that straight away. Little bit quirky, I guess no two rooms the same, old fireplace, massive mirrors and a Wimbledon wicker basket at decor. Breakfast was amazing, gorgeous food, great selection and waiting staff always happy to help. Didn't eat there at other times, but the restaurant always looked busy inside and out. Two minor faults, could have squoze a small dressing table/desk into the room, and be prepared for a small amount of noise in the morning with delivery vehicles around, not a big problem though. I would definitely visit again, and recommend anyone visiting York to look at this place as somewhere really nice to stay.

Located within a golf course, the hotel boasts a tranquil, peaceful, and comfortable environment with beautiful scenery. However, it's quite far from the city center, about a 30-minute drive from York's Old Town. If you're not traveling by car, it's not the best choice for accommodation. But if you have a car, it's an excellent option as parking is free. The hotel has two restaurants with good food, but they are very expensive and the portions are small – typical fine dining. If you don't want to spend too much on food, it's best to eat in the city before entering the hotel.

A small villa, the room is clean and tidy, very warm and quiet, the service is very good and warm, we live on the 3rd floor, there is no elevator, the suitcase is the store to help get the room, parking is also convenient. The environment of Zhou is good, and it is convenient to travel. It takes 20 minutes to walk along the river to see the tourist attractions in the downtown area. Only breakfast is very expensive. Two nights a day is a pleasant experience.

The room and hotel itself was great, but there were no instructions on how to order food to the room. The phone had no dial tone. A note on the phone said details to contact reception were accessible through the tv...no idea where!? There was no welcome sheet on how to make contact with reception, order food or restaurant/breakfast times etc. My case was also left out in reception from 11am when I initially checked in until checking back in at 11pm!! (I was told it would be stored safely until I returned) The reception was unmanned when I checked back in at 11pm with only my case left out alone in the lobby! (I did tell them I wouldn't be checking back in untill night!) Disappointed 😞

The location is excellent and the bed was comfortable. It was also very quiet at night so I had a good night’s sleep. However, my check-in experience was disappointing. I arrived at around 5:30 pm and waited outside for more than 15 minutes. I rang the bell several times but no one answered. After I finally got inside, there was still no receptionist and I had to wait longer before I could check in. The bathroom also needs more attention. After people showered, the floor was very wet and dirty and there was nothing available to clean or dry it. Overall, the location and room were good, but the check-in process and bathroom cleanliness could definitely be improved.

I've stayed at this hotel before and I will definitely be staying again. The location is ideal for me with easy access to the city centre either by walking, bus, or taxi. The rooms have always been very clean and a good size too. The buffet style breakfast is always superb and leisure facilities give you a chance to unwind in the pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room. The staff have always been pleasant, friendly, and polite. 5 stars from me!
