Hotels near Iwataya in Fukuoka

"I stayed here for two nights right after landing in Fukuoka, and even as a solo traveler, the room felt incredibly cramped. I quickly switched hotels on the third day. The room was tiny and dated, giving off a vibe reminiscent of a guesthouse from the last century. You basically stepped out of the door and were immediately at the bed. My suitcase could only perch precariously on a folding luggage rack. The cleanliness was mediocre. The bathroom seemed quite clean and looked like it had been thoroughly scrubbed, but the room walls were very dirty with black marks. It wasn't until I opened my suitcase and its wheels rubbed against the wall that I realized where those black marks came from. Even though it was a non-smoking floor, the air in the room wasn't great. After just one night, my tonsils became inflamed. Those with sensitivities should definitely avoid this place. Toiletries and bathrobes were self-service in the lobby downstairs. The small packets of toner and lotion were surprisingly good, and the compressed exfoliating mitt was also quite useful. Drinking water wasn't provided, but there was a self-service laundry room. The hotel's location is pretty good, though. Le Labo is directly across the street, and there are many trendy shops and restaurants nearby. Tenjin shopping district is also within walking distance. It was quite cheap when I booked it, so I won't complain too much. It's suitable for backpackers."

"This hotel boasts a prime location right in the heart of Fukuoka's Tenjin Nishi-dori. It's directly across the street from Iwataya department store and Ichiran Ramen, with Tenjin Underground Mall, various shopping centers, Don Quijote, Zara, trendy fashion streets, the subway, and the Nishitetsu Tenjin express bus terminal all within easy reach. There are also tons of great restaurants within walking distance. The self-check-in process was super convenient, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy, and for Japan, it was actually quite spacious – enough room to open up two suitcases comfortably. The shower had excellent water pressure. My only minor complaints are that the sink is a bit low and the water pressure for the faucet is on the weaker side. This will definitely be my go-to hotel next time I visit Fukuoka!"

"It was a lovely stay. Check-in was smooth, and if you have a hotel membership, they extend check-out by an hour. They also provide complimentary drinks, and I appreciate that you can choose from a selection."

"The Hotel is well located, new and clean. It has a selfservice Check-In. Here i had a huge issue. In the process of checking in the system showed me that i still had to pay 200 yen which is 2 USD. This is the local tax. If i dont pay, i dont get access to my room. Then the System tells me that i can not pay in this process and I should pay at the reception. Hey there is no reception. There was a telephone number. So i called Thema and all i got was a very polite lady but as expected her english capabilities were not good enough to unterstand my issue. Finally i found a Chat. There i showed pictures of my issue and they resolved it remotely. I told Them that the Telephone call was 12 USD and all they offered was a late checkout which i could not use since my flight was at Noon. No refund just nothing. They took 1 hour of my time plus 12 USD because of an issue they created. And if you accept foreign travellers why does your helpdesk not speak propper english?"

"The hotel's location is excellent and very convenient. Don Quijote and drugstores are nearby. The bus stop right outside is also a big plus. There are many shopping options in the vicinity, and it's not too far from the airport. Highly recommended!"

"While the location is a bit ambiguous, being between Tenjin and Akasaka, it was very clean and the staff were incredibly friendly. There was a staff member who could speak Korean, and they also sold drinks at the counter (see photo), which were reasonably priced. There are two convenience stores within a 1-2 minute walk, and luggage storage is self-service. Don Quijote, Human Made, Stussy, and other stores are all within about a 10-minute walk. Tenjin Underground Shopping Mall and Parco are also about a 10-minute walk, but you can take a bus or walk if the weather is nice. I went in the summer and nearly died from the heat ㅠㅠ"

"I booked two rooms, and while their sizes varied, they were both larger than typical city hotel rooms. I requested a high floor, which wasn't granted, but that's okay. However, the rooms faced the messy buildings behind the hotel, which made for a poor view. There was a lot of dust on the bedside tables, which I hope can be improved. There's a large public bath on the third floor, but I didn't get to experience it because of the long lines to get in when it was busy."

"The room is spacious and the location is good. Walk for around 7 minutes to tenjin station. There is drug store and convenient store nearby. Shopping malls are just all around. You can do the shopping for the whole day staying here and drop back some stuff back to hotel in between! The services are great! Staff are polite and helpful."

"The room was spacious and spotlessly clean, and the hotel staff provided thoughtful and attentive service. The beach is right next door, which my kids absolutely loved. Breakfast was served on a floor overlooking the bay, which was incredibly comfortable. Plus, it's right by the Fukuoka Tower, offering breathtaking views from the top!"

"Stayed at Hotel Oriental Fukuoka Tenjin and it was such a great choice! The location is super convenient—just a 2-minute walk to the subway entrance, making it easy to get around the city. There are also plenty of dining options nearby, with Yoshinoya, Matsuya, and even Shin Shin just around the corner. Service was consistently good, and the room was very comfortable. I especially loved the pillows and bed—perfect for resting after a long day of exploring. A nice touch was that they provided nightwear, which I didn’t bring, so that was really convenient. Breakfast had a great spread with lots of options to choose from, making mornings something to look forward to. Overall, a comfortable and hassle-free stay in a prime location!"
