Hotels near Minami in Osaka

This was not my first hostel experience, and I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. Let’s start with the positive aspects first: The location was absolutely perfect — I don’t think you could find a better place to stay in Namba. Everything was close by, and getting around was very easy. Also, the staff were extremely, extremely friendly, and we received fresh towels every day, which I really appreciated. Now, onto the things that bothered me: First, the cleanliness: It wasn’t really clean. In the showers, there was always a lot of hair and dirt in the gaps where you enter and exit, which was quite unpleasant. During my stay, someone vomited in the public sink area, and it was not cleaned up overnight — it was still there even at 10 a.m. the next morning. Because of that, the house smelled strongly of vomit for a while. That night, and in general, there was often an unpleasant smell in the kitchen area as well. Without wanting to discriminate, I noticed that many older people were staying at the hostel (since apparently there was no age restriction). Some of them would loudly clear their throats and spit phlegm into the sinks, even early in the morning, which was quite disturbing and unhygienic. Another issue was the temperature: The room was extremely hot at night, and since so many people were sleeping in one room, the air became very stuffy. Even inside your capsule, it was uncomfortably warm. One last point: On the day of arrival, the address on Trip.com was wrong, which made it very hard to find the hostel. It took me almost an hour and a half to find it, especially because it was very hidden with no clear signage outside. I really hope that in the future, there will also be an age limit for guests.

The hotel was very close to a subway station. We were able to walk out and immediately get on a train. The amenities are really are good quality. On different hours of the day, there are activities in the hotel. There are tea ceremonies in the afternoon, and free beer in the evening. The hotel also gives free noodles at night. The room is really clean and comfortable, but please note that there is no room service. Upon check-in, you are also asked to pay a City tax.

The locationn is very close to shopping areas such as Namba, Shinsaibashi, and Kuromon Market. There's also a large, inexpensive supermarket nearby, located behind the building. The accommodation is clean, towels, liquid soap, and shampoo are provided. The bed is a good size, not too narrow. My room was on the second floor and had limited space for luggage. There's a corner outside the room with tea and coffee service and a refrigerator, but it's quite cramped. You can buy food and heat it up there. Because the accommodation doesn't have much common space, you need to be mindful of noise levels.

The location is very good! There’s a family mart below and hotel is super near the subway. Walking distance from kuromon market as well. Room is quite small, could only open 1 medium luggage on the floor near the door, the other has to be on the rack, limited walking space for 2 pax. Pillow is way too soft, feels like I’m not using one 😅 cleanliness wise is pretty decent. Overall room is a little old but works fine. Price point is good considering its peak season now. Front desk is okay, neither exceptionally friendly nor rude.

We had an enjoyable stay here during our visit to Osaka. Short walking distance to Shinsaibashi Shopping Street and Dotonbori. Room was relatively spacious, but downside is the narrow washroom which is slightly unfriendly to elders who requires to step down. Main attractions are their ample unique amenities and services, ie free massage chair and ramen during happy hours. Worthy to have a stay here.

The accommodation is located close to the subway station, making transportation very convenient. Four of us stayed in the room with four large suitcases, which fit the space just right. The room also has a bathtub, and the bed is soft and very comfortable for sleeping. The room was clean, and the food was delicious. The hotel is right next to Lawson 108 and a coffee shop, and it is also located in a shopping area, which makes it very convenient for walking around and finding places to eat. The staff were very helpful and provided excellent service, and the room was cleaned every day.

Convenient location, just next to Ebisicho subway station exit 5. It's also great that there are free flow alcohol and ramen at selected hours. Downside is that it's too noisy at the public areas, as it's a hotel popular with Korean tour groups that like to drink and eat and make merry loudly. Service also has room for inprovement - staff weren't particularly warm or friendly. Was checked in by the lady in the picture - when I said I want to check in, she (probably a Korean) started talking to me (without a smile) in Korean, presuming I'm Korean, just like most guests staying there. She gave a look of slight annoyance when I (obviously) couldn't understand - and mantained a cold stoic look through the whole check in process. Not the best welcome to give your newly arrived guests. Foreign housekeeping staff also do not greet guests along the corridor. That said, some Japanese staff members and the restaurant staff are still pleasant and polite, and given the affordable price point and added free perks, it's still a decent stay.

The room is small but can open two suitcases. The public bath and spa are excellent. Close to JR station and donki. But the staff and hotel policy are terrible and I could only rate it woth adverse comment. First, at checkin the staff did not tell us the spa world could be used even after checkout, so we had no idea we could still stay to play the spa world the next day until we learnt it from other residents in the hotel. If we have learnt it earlier at checkin we might adjust our travelling plan as we checkin late at night from landing. Second, upon checkout we asked for luggage storage service, which is very basic services of hotel, but the staff said if we were leaving and not staying for the spa, they would not keep our luggage. I am not meaning leaving Japan but I just go out from breakfast or some shopping. I have visited Japan multiple times and stayed in many hotels or residence, and this is the first one not offering luggage storage service. Please do not call this a hotel if you refuse to offer luggage storage service. Third, the hotel prohibited any slipper and every one had to walk back to rooms in bare feet after public bath, this sounds dirty while the staff was wearing slipper. Hotel could provide slippers and require resident to wear hotel slippers only. Bad experience and poor service.

This was the cheapest hotel I could find during my two days in Osaka, definitely hostel-level. You can tell the hotel is quite old; there were a lot of scuff marks on the room walls, and the smart toilet wasn't all that 'smart'. However, the bedding and bathroom were odor-free, which was good enough. The positives were the front desk staff, who were very friendly and spoke good English. The location was also excellent, not far from Kintetsu and the subway, and Dotonbori was only a ten-minute walk away. Plus, there's a 7-Eleven just 50 meters next door. The room size was just right, typical for a Japanese hotel; being able to open my 28-inch suitcase was all I needed. By the way, they do offer luggage storage, so rest assured on that front.

Aiwa Hotel is conveniently located near Shin-Imamiya Station and Dobutsuen-mae Station. Nearby attractions include Tsutenkaku Tower, and a bit further, you can visit Osaka Tennoji Zoo, Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts, Shitennoji Temple, and Abeno Harukas 300 Observatory.
