Hotels near Convention 33 in George Town

I stayed in a basic twin room. Having read the reviews regarding the size of the room for two people were small, as a solo traveler, I requested two twin beds. Let’s start with some positive words to describe my stay here. Positive: - Location is convenient to Georgetown sites and across the road from a mall with a supermarket, and local eateries. - On the 2nd day, housekeeping came and cleaned the room. - Air conditioner and water pressure were great. - Staff friendly and polite. - WiFi worked! Not so great: - The hotel has A LOT of wear and tear. This was my third hotel in Malaysia in the previous two for the same price were beyond excellent so when I enter the room, I have to honestly say I was disappointed and considering shifting to another hotel. The room even for one person was just enough so I can’t imagine for two people! - 15 mins after checking into the room, part of the ceiling fell on the bed! - The hotel does not supply any bathroom amenities, but they are available on request. This was not a dealbreaker as I typically travel with my own toiletries. - This is due to NO FAULT of the hotel. On the second night from 11 PM until 3am outside on the main road of the hotel they were doing road repairs and construction. As the hotel is only four floors high and no windows to the main road the sound was so loud and the fumes from the concrete and tar infiltrated the hotel and into the room. I had to place towels under the door to prevent fumes from coming in. - No safe in the room, so I didn’t leave any valuables in the room. Suggest paying a little more and stay elsewhere. There are other hotels around Georgetown. If you do stay here, it’s a good motivator to get out of the room to explore Georgetown!

The room is spacious, and Harun always does an excellent job cleaning it; his service is enthusiastic. Facilities: Good. Service: Very good, though it's a shame they don't allow a slightly later checkout 😂. They require checkout at 11 AM, and by 12 PM, they were already calling us to hurry up and leave. They're quite strict about not allowing late check-outs, probably because rooms are in high demand during peak season. Environment: Very quiet, you can't hear any motorbike noise, and it's convenient for getting to all the attractions.

The location of Loop on Leith strikes a near-perfect balance. Although the hotel sits close to the lively Lebuh Chulia, it is cleverly tucked away along Leith Street. Chulia Street is a hub for backpackers and nightlife, so evenings can get noisy. By setting itself slightly inward, Loop on Leith neatly avoids the brunt of street noise, while still placing you just a four-minute walk from the iconic Blue Mansion (Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion), where you can easily begin your street food adventure. Its positioning works as an ideal base for urban exploration. Head north and you’ll find the refined charm of the heritage district; head south and you step straight into the vibrant pulse of the city center. The hotel embraces an Urban Chic concept, deliberately doing away with traditional heavy carpeting—a smart choice in a tropical climate, as it helps reduce mustiness and allergens. Instead, modern hard flooring and bright lighting create a space that feels noticeably fresher and cleaner, both visually and physically, compared to older Peranakan-style hotels in the same price range. Rooms here tend to be on the smaller side. For two guests traveling with large luggage, the space can feel a bit tight. It’s best suited for travelers who spend most of their day বাইরে exploring and simply want a comfortable place to rest at night—think light packers or efficiency-focused “urban explorers.” At roughly RM250 per night, Loop on Leith delivers a boutique-like aesthetic and standardized service at a budget hotel price point. The value-for-money and overall sense of comfort are impressive. It lacks the heavy, sometimes oppressive atmosphere of heritage buildings, and also avoids the blandness of chain hotels. This makes it especially appealing to young couples, solo travelers, or business visitors. If you’re looking for a spacious executive suite, this may not be the right choice. But if your priorities are efficiency, cleanliness, and stepping straight into great food and scenery the moment you walk out, it stands out as a smart option in George Town’s mid-range market. For an even better stay, consider requesting a higher-floor room—it offers a slightly more open view and helps buffer early morning street noise from passing motorcycles.

• The Hotel: The hotel is easy access from main road. The building is conjoined with michelin restaurant (same entrance in lobby). • The room: I arrived an hour early and the staff offer earlier checkin since my room was ready, how amazing! The room was enough for 1 person and there's a designated space for luggage so it didn't block the way / on the floor. Clean and well maintained. Basic amenities were met. Hot/Cold water works (just need time to warm up). Window can be open for air movement. I didn't have breakfast service because there're SO many restaurants nearby and walking distance. • The nearby attractions: The reason I chose this hotel cause it's all walking distance from places I want to go. The famous Penang Laksa is just 5 minutes walk from the hotel! And 2 minutes walk from the hotel is Kimberley Street (famous for night market street foods). There are 1 convenience store 24/7 within 4 mins of the hotel walk. The iconic P66 Store is walking distance (7 minutes), Makan Pagi is just 10 minutes walk, and even: the famous Armenian Street is just 1km / 10 minutes slow walk away from the hotel. The location is just strategic for my itineraries. Overall, I enjoy my stay and if I visit Penang again, definitely will stay here. It's safe for female solo travelers. Notes: 1) Like others pointed out, there's no concierge and trolley service so you gotta drag your suitcases. Entrance access is wheelchair friendly too! 2) There're 100 MYR deposit, to be returned when you checkout (don't lose the paper receipt!)

It was a breeze to book the hotel. Details were provided promptly to register yourself before they provide the passcodes to enter. Note that there is no staffs in the hotel. All communications are strictly via WhatsApp and email. Helped a Chinese national to contact the staffs as she has no WhatsApp account. So for foreigners, please note to get the registration done earlier to avoid not able to enter into hotel. Capsule is quite clean but has a bit of smell. Toilet is ok too. All in all, you get what you pay for.

I had a wonderful stay at the place. It's clean, simple and not busy or noisy. It's so close to the center of Georgetown area and the nightlife without being too centre. The staff, especially Junaid, is very nice and helpful. Thanks. It's worth the money, I'll definitely come here again.

A nice capsule bed. i had a quiet night and very pleasant stay here for the 3D2N. The Location, cleanliness, and service are all excellent. Another thing is that we were able to enjoy and experience the breathtaking New Year's countdown fireworks from the historic skyline of Georgetown City at the hotel's common area terrace. See the photo taken during that time below. First of all, the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. The Malaysian Chinese lady owner was incredibly kind and always willing to help, which made my stay feel even more welcoming and personal. As soon as you step outside the hotel, many major tourist attractions are within walking distance, so the location is very convenient. Aside from that, the room was very clean, cozy, and charming, perfectly capturing the old Penang vibe. Overall, it’s a simple, compact, and lovely hotel that I truly enjoyed and would happily recommend. Overall, the experience at the hotel was really fun, there are many good features about it, such as the location, and the facilities. And the price is affordable too. Thanks for a wonderful time. Housekeeping change towel every day. Is a Great location, lots of restaurants, great staff, the bathroom is downstairs but it's OK. I would definitely recommend it Basic but all you need for a short stay! Great wifi and aircon, and such a convenient location.

I'm not sure what to think about this hotel. It has all the essentials (water fountain, ironing board, hairdryer), but the room is poorly soundproofed – you can hear almost everything from outside the windows. There's no elevator, and you have about 10 steps to climb plus more steps to even enter the hotel (which is tough with suitcases and bags). The common areas are extremely hot, and there's no luggage storage (though it was mentioned in the listing, we just didn't see it). On the positive side, the location is great, and check-in was fast. Although the hotel opened in 2014, the rooms' facilities and cleanliness are still very well-maintained. The shower has great water pressure, making for a very comfortable bathing experience. The pillows in the room were a bit uncomfortable for me – too high and too springy. The bed was large and the mattress was very comfortable. My room didn't come with bathrobes. It was quiet at night, and the air conditioning in the room was strong. Directly opposite the hotel is a large shopping mall, and a big supermarket is not far away. It's also within walking distance to various attractions. The infinity pool is excellent, with a good long lane for swimming. Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM to 10 AM, and the food selection is substantial and fitting for a 4-star hotel, offering everything you'd expect.

The accommodation is in a tourist area, so food is readily available as soon as you step out. It's also close to the bus terminal, making travel convenient. The room is a bit small, but it wasn't uncomfortable for a solo traveler. They provide a hairdryer, drinking water, shampoo, toothbrush, and towels. No adapter is needed for the power outlets. The accommodation feels safe, especially for women traveling alone. Overall, it's good, and I'd stay here again if I have the chance.
