Hotels near Tradgardsforeningen in Gothenburg

We arrived at 7:30 pm and were told we got a room “upgrade”. The room was small so we really wondered what the “original” room looked like. The bed had stains on the cover that was laid under the mattress which didn’t look good. We went down to the lobby and found nobody present. We moved on to the restaurant, it was 8 pm. Half full and we were met with the wonderful advise that they were closed for service. This was Friday May 16th and the menu board was still at the entrance door to the restaurant. We went back to the reception and queried why the restaurant was not serving dinner at 8 pm on a Friday. The receptionist looked dumbfounded and told us it usually serves dinner at least until 9 pm but she took no action to assist us except to say we could walk fir 15 minutes to the Aveny, a street with lots of restaurants but could not suggest any close by. We ended up going to, as it happened, a fantastic restaurant right around the corner called Le Pigalle on the top floor of, we guess, a competing hotel. Fabulous meal in a restaurant that knew how to treat their guests. In short we have regretfully no positive things to say about the ProfilHotels Opera in Gothenburg. Gothenburg was fantastic but when we return we will definitely not book at the Opera which is overpriced for the standard and service they offer. Total waste of money at this venue. Regretfully we did not bother to take any pictures of the place as it is nothing we wish to remember about it.

This hotel is conveniently located at central station in Gothenburg. Very walkable and close to shopping and restaurants. The area is busy with lots of transit and people, bit the hotel is overall quiet. Breakfast is good with an assortment of items, but can get repetitive for longer stays as the food items are the same each day. The rooms are comfortable and good size with spacious bathrooms. The bathrooms are quite basic and needs upgrading as ours had some broken tiles across the corners. Overall a. Very good hotel that we'd stay in again.

Loved the location of this hotel as well as the downstairs communal areas. Also the size of the room was great. Unfortunately the bed was incredibly uncomfortable and cheap so I barely slept a wink in my 3 nights there. I asked for an extra pillow as you only get one and that still didn’t help. Staff were lovely when I did speak to them, but you can easily go by your whole stay without talking to someone which is a shame as you don’t get told any information. There was also no fridge or safe in the rooms which I thought was pretty standard. Food at the breakfast buffet was really good though. Great options for vegans/gluten free too.

The hotel was exceptionally clean and organized. They have several great amenities like a sauna & luggage storage for the day (even after you check out). Not far from anything and in a great location. The staff all speak great English and were incredibly friendly! Breakfast was traditionally Swedish with lots to choose from and easy for anyone to find something enjoyable.

Air conditioning! Quite spacious, good layout, makeup remover wipes. There is free coffee and small cakes in the lobby, delicious 😋. The whole hotel is also very nice, very atmospheric, you can take pictures haha 😄 breakfast is not bad.

The response from the front desk was very good. It was also generally clean. I was on the top bunk of a bunk bed, but I couldn't find an outlet near my bed, so I couldn't charge my phone while sleeping (I didn't). I used a female-only dormitory, but the door lock was difficult to lock, and I felt like I could get in without the electronic key if I accidentally locked it. Although I made the reservation the day before, I was very satisfied with the price and the staff's atmosphere.

Well everything besides our check out experience was great. Really great! Then when checking out, we had 3 interactions with the reception about checking out prior to checking out. and only the one at 12:30 (when checking out with luggage and all), we were told to pay a 200SEK late-fee, which I was then told could’ve been even higher and that I should be thankful they didn’t charge me double… Not nice - and we had 3 interactions prior to this for this exact reason. I wanted to work out first and then shower in the room before leaving. If we were told the first time about the late check out fee; we would’ve checked out then and there. I complained about this practice, to deaf ears. Not coming back despite it being very nice and perfect for a Liseberg weekend with the family

The hotel is not bad and the breakfast is very rich. The young lady at the front desk is pretty and offers great service. However, the parking fee is too expensive, and the valet parking even costs 370 Swedish kronor. I looked for a parking space behind the hotel, which only cost 110 kronor.

Staying at Clarion Hotel The Pier in Sweden turned out to be one of those experiences where you feel at ease almost immediately. Every time we entered or walked past the front desk, we were greeted with a smile or a kind word. It’s such a simple gesture, but it created this feeling of being looked after, as if we were more than just passing guests. A Location That Balances Quiet and Convenience The hotel’s setting struck the perfect balance—peaceful and quiet, yet still so easy to get into the city center. It felt like we had the best of both worlds: calm evenings by the water, and the city’s energy just a short ride away. Beautiful Skyline and Water Views From the hotel, the view stretched across the skyline and the water, and it was just lovely. Whether it was morning light reflecting off the buildings or the soft glow in the evenings, those views gave the place a special atmosphere that I won’t forget. A Studio Room That Feels Like Home Our studio room came with a small kitchenette, and I can’t stress enough how handy that was. For a longer stay, being able to cook a simple meal or make a late tea added such a homely touch. The room itself felt modern and cozy, just right for settling in without feeling cramped. A Breakfast with Heart Breakfast was always a cheerful way to start the day, not just because of the food but because of the people. The breakfast chef, a lovely lady with beautiful red hair, had the warmest presence. She greeted everyone with such kindness that it set the tone for the rest of the day. Looking back, what made Clarion Hotel The Pier memorable wasn’t just the location or the facilities—it was the sense of care woven through the stay. Between the quiet setting, the beautiful views, the comfort of the room, and those daily warm greetings (especially at breakfast), the hotel managed to feel both professional and genuinely personal.

I arrived around 9 pm and it was already dark. Still, the surroundings near the central station felt safe because there were plenty of people around. It was about an 8-minute walk, though Google Maps sent me on a longer route when I could have just taken a shortcut near the train tracks. The reception was lovely. I even asked for some ice cubes since it was quite humid that day and normal temperature water wasn’t enough to cool me down. The room itself was nice, just right for one person. As it was parallel to the train tracks, you could hear them passing, but only faintly. I was so tired that I slept really well. I didn’t order breakfast so I can’t comment on that. I checked out at 12 pm, and they provided luggage storage free of charge, which was definitely a plus. I came back for my luggage at 6 pm with no issues.
