"I had the great pleasure of staying at the Sunset Hill Boutique Resort from March 19th to March 23rd, 2026 – and all I can say is: it was simply perfect!
From the very first moment, I felt incredibly welcome. The entire team was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and always eager to fulfill every wish. You can immediately tell that they work with passion here. I was particularly impressed by how lovingly and professionally the staff took care of us – truly first-class service!
The atmosphere at the resort is fantastic, quiet, and relaxing – exactly the right place to unwind and enjoy your time. Everything was very clean, well-maintained, and simply made you feel good.
I was completely happy and satisfied with my stay and can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. Many thanks to the entire team for this wonderful time – I would love to come back again!"
"Nice, quiet hotel in a great location on Koh Phangan. The bungalows are clean and comfortable, the surroundings are peaceful, and the staff are friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Good value for money and a pleasant place to stay."
"I really enjoyed our stay. The view is amazing, and in the morning it’s not hot on the balcony. I also loved that everything is thoughtfully designed down to the smallest details. We made very delicious breakfasts and smoothies. You can connect your phone to the TV, which is very convenient. In the morning, you’ll hear many unusual birds — but for me that was actually a plus, the magical sounds of Phangan.
The only thing I didn’t like was the uphill walk… in the evening it feels a bit scary to go up."
"Beautifully maintained and peaceful bungalows in a garden right on the beach.
The staff is helpful (thank you, Sunny!) and offers great advice.
The bungalow has storage space. The bedding is very comfortable. A quick rinse with water before entering.
Towels are changed daily.
The beach is simply magnificent. There are massage services and restaurants.
We stayed for 5 days... I would definitely go back."
"Pretty good place to stay. The room is proper and spacious. Better than most on the island. The bar- restaurant in the beach have great food options. Overall good stay !"
"We chose a hotel for a holiday with children and rented a motorbike to go to the nearby beaches. The location is excellent; we visited at low tide, but regretted it. Next time, only at high tide. You can swim, but it's shallow at low tide, approximately 70 cm deep, and 40 cm at low tide. But since we went to the neighboring beach, it was just as shallow there."
"I really liked this hotel. The breakfasts were excellent. You order your main dish as soon as you arrive, and they bring it out in about five minutes. Everything else is buffet style. This hotel is only suitable for those who drive a car or moped. You can rent a moped right there, and the prices are good. They have a selection of Honda Click 125 and 160 models. We rented a moped for the entire week of our stay and got a discount. Just a heads up, the uphill climb isn't for beginners; assess your capabilities and weight, as a 125cc might struggle with two people. There's a path to the beach, but since we had a moped, we never used it.
Because the hotel is located high up, we often slept without air conditioning. Our room had a mountain view, and the windows opened and had screens, so we had no mosquitoes. Plus, the balcony wasn't facing a courtyard, so we could relax there peacefully without anyone seeing us.
The rooms on the second floor with a pool view have one drawback: you can't open the window in the room. The ones closer to the entrance are better and have openable windows, but people walk right past them, so you'd have to sleep with the curtains drawn.
Unfortunately, rooms were only cleaned upon request. It was only towards the end of our stay that we realized we could get water and fresh towels ourselves. Trash by the pool was collected once a day, or even less frequently. Empty bottles and dishes could sit there until the next evening. It was very strange; the entire property was cleaned daily, but the pool area only every other day."
"Great location, this hotel have basic and simple rooms for people who look for cheap price and also great rooms near the beach, the staff is lovely, the food is great and their beach is perfect"

Amazing
GGuest UserWe had a wonderful stay at Kupu Kupu Phangan and can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. The grounds are beautiful, peaceful, and very well-maintained—ideal for relaxation and well-being.
A very special thank you goes to the fantastic team, especially Bank, AD, Micky, San, Aek, Lin, Ziny, Nonoe, and Foam. Everyone was always warm, attentive, and incredibly friendly.
We were particularly touched by the loving and patient way our son was treated. As a family, we felt welcome from the very first moment.
We would love to return and wholeheartedly recommend Kupu Kupu Phangan.
JJorborI was very excited to stay at this hotel. The room had a wonderful atmosphere, and I was fortunate to receive a room with a high ceiling, which made the space feel even more spacious and airy. The room was also very clean. The only downside was that after spending some time in the room or using the bathroom, a strong sewage odor began to come from the drain. Even with the toilet lid closed, the smell was still quite unpleasant.
In terms of transportation, everything was very convenient. You can contact the lobby to arrange transfers around Koh Phangan (for an additional fee). Guests can also access the swimming pool and certain services at other hotels within the same group (additional charges may apply), which makes getting around easier and adds more activities to enjoy.
As for the breakfast buffet, there was a wide variety of options available. However, most of the dishes were quite cold, likely because they had been left out for some time. Only the egg station served freshly cooked and warm food.
AAnonymous UserWe booked the deluxe villa with a bathroom because I was particularly drawn to the design of having a small pool in the courtyard. I used it daily, and the privacy felt palpable once I locked the front door. The rooms were well-separated, featuring a cozy living room with a ceiling fan, tables, chairs, and a TV. The bedroom and bathroom were decent-sized and equipped with all the essentials.
The daily coffee and bottled water were a pleasant surprise. However, the reception staff were friendly, but the restaurant, bar, and breakfast staff were cold and unfriendly. We only needed to request a room cleaning once, and it was done quickly, but it didn’t feel thorough. Three ladies arrived with cleaning supplies, but they left within 3-5 minutes, changing the towels and water, but not doing much else.
We believe you should request a room cleaning, at least that’s what we felt. The breakfast was basic and didn’t get replenished quickly. One morning, we had breakfast and discovered that the milk was spoiled. It had mixed with our coffee and cereal, so we had to leave it. The staff were always cold and unfriendly during breakfast and later at the bar and restaurant.
On the positive side, the view from the pool was excellent, and it was peaceful and relaxing to be there. However, I noticed some weeds and smoke around the area, which made me feel a bit sick after inhaling it for a while, even though I’m a non-smoker.
Also, there is a nice 711 across the road from the hotel, and it’s in walking distance to get to the haad rin beach
GGuest UserGreat stay, all of the staff were hard working, and friendly but Catalina, Moe and Aaron were exceptional and a credit to the team. Good location, comfortable room, big pool, plenty of beds, direct access to the beach, fabulous sunsets snd a short walk to Haadrin Walking Street, restaurants and its beach. The only negative was that smoking was permitted around the pool, it would’ve been a more pleasant experience if there were smoking and none smoking areas and it was enforced by staff.
DDaria ZinovevaWas something what I need, quite remotes place, but not far from everything. Very particular and special place I would say, something unusual. The hotel is not old, but I felt in the room that it’s quite old, the atmosphere) The linen had spots. The bed is big and very comfortable. Great incredible view! You can just be stuck near the window. Really spacious room. Very high, so to bring there suitcases I wouldn’t recommend, you would just suffer. There is Apichada view point, one of the best places in Phangan.
SStepan Tevs”Spectacular views, shame about everything else”
Venus on Koh Phangan is the definition of a mixed bag—and unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives here.
Let's start with what works: the view is absolutely stunning. Perched overlooking the water, it's genuinely breathtaking and exactly what you'd hope for when booking an island getaway. If you're someone who can sit on a balcony and stare at the sea for hours, you'll get that here.
The problem is you'll have to stare at it from a very tired room. The accommodation is old and frankly, dying for a renovation. Everything feels dated and worn—furniture, fittings, decor—like stepping back in time but not in a charming way. It's functional at best.
The location compounds the issues. It's terrible—nothing around at all, and almost inaccessible by foot. You'll absolutely need your own transportation (scooter or taxi) just to get to a restaurant or convenience store. If you're without wheels, you're stranded.
Overall, Venus trades entirely on its view, but neglects everything else. If you prioritize scenery above all and have your own transport, maybe. Otherwise, look for somewhere that puts equal effort into the actual accommodation and location.
AAnonymous UserOk for the price losts of interesting wild life.
You need a motorbike to get about on kohpangan because taxis are very expensive.
The dogs are sweet and soon recognised me and remembered me . They just bark when they first meet anyone .
I lasted 12days without air-conditioning but had to up grade to air-conditioning after lack of sleep and dehydration.
771/60大BIs a small resort hide just offside of the road.
To enter wirh your car need careful driving as it is narrow and rough.
Only few parking lot and should be enough afterall not too many drive a car in the island.
Check in/out is easy.
Speak good enough.
Room at first glance is lovely but the first night is a nightmare since a lot of mosquitoes inbthe room and I need to but a mosquito coil to kill them and also the smoke killed us too.
Aftet that, it is fine and evan though sometimes we may be bitten agian by the strong mosquitoes.
No breakfast but you can use their utensils such as kettle, hot plate, microwave to cook.
30Thb to wash and a drying rack is located at the back of the room with sufficient hanger to hang and dry your clothes.
A small swimming pool but I would dare to try.
Walking distance to the night market/food stall.
AAngyoThe hotel is like a secret paradise with a private beach super quiet and calm away from the street noise. The rooms are big and very comfortable. The only bad thing was the other guests coming back home drunk at 4am shouting like no one else was sleeping...
MMVCarvalhoThe place is very beatiful with amazing view, but for 4 stars hotel they need to make improvements in general, service, food and facilities.
The hotel is too far from the center about 40 min by car, and the hotel doesn’t provide any shuttle for free, if you want to go to the city for any reason you have to pay.
Breakfast: there is variety of food but I’m my opinion it’s not a good quality, I was expecting more.
Facilities: swimming pool and sun beds is ok, they provide one kind of fabric but isn’t towel.
Room: my room was beatiful and clean, but so dark, bathroom the floor was a kind of tiles slippery and little bit, this is a kind of hazards.
