The room is quite nice and the location is good. It’s self checkin so I had to wait downstairs for a while as there was no staff and I wasn’t aware of this. There was a really a noisy alarm in the building across the street from my room and I asked to change room around midnight. The staff aren’t very accommodating and I couldn’t change room. Luckily the noise stopped after a while. The hotel is okay but I had actually just come from the Brady Hotel at Central Melbourne where the price and location is similar but with much better customer service. I’d suggest skipping the Ibis.

My husband and have stayed at The Stamford Plaza times many times over the years and have always loved it, but this was the first time bringing the kids, as we wanted to treat them to a special night out in the school holidays. PROS - The pool and spa were the highlight of our trip. After reading some previous reviews about the water being too cold we were a little concerned, but they were both absolutely wonderful. The pool area was clean and the pool was lovely and warm. The spa was perfect and HOT - just the way we love it. My children LOVED the glass elevator, this was a real thrill for them and they are already asking when we can go back to go in it again. We did meet some lovely staff during our stay, and check in and check out was fast and easy. The room was nice and clean. There is absolutely no view of the city lights (we were looking out onto a wall) but this is just due to the location and can't be helped. The central location is fantastic. CONS - No valet - I'm sure this was a service that used to be offered in the past? Our bags took nearly 2 hours to be delivered to our room, and this was time wasted that we were planning on heading out to explore the city. They only arrived after several follow up calls asking how much longer they would be. We only had 2 towels (and no robes) in our bathroom, even though our booking was for a family of 4. When our bags arrived, we asked the gentleman to please provide 2 more towels for the kids but they never came. We ended up needing to take 2 extra towels from the pool area back to our room. Our 'Indulgence Package' included a bottle of wine which we were told would be brought up to the room. This also never came and I needed to ask for it upon checking out. The real let down though was the buffer breakfast, which was included in our package. We have stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels and this was possibly the worst breakfast we have come across - I wouldn't even rate it a 2. The coffee machine was broken, and there was no service asking if we would like a fresh tea or coffee. My son had the pancakes (pre-made sitting out with the bread) and he said they tasted stale and crumbled in his mouth. The hot food (eggs, bacon, tomato, hash brown) were all stone COLD - not even luke warm. I considered asking if they could pop my plate into the microwave to heat them up but lost my appetite wondering how long it had been just sitting out there. And the fresh fruit was dry and looked like it had been sitting out a long time. I wish we hadn't taken take package with breakfast included, as we could have had a hot breakfast for much less $$ from the McDonalds just around the corner. Our package also included late check out to 12 noon however our keys did not allow us entry back in after 11am. OVERALL - We would stay at the Stamford again however I think they need to advertise it for what it truly is - a 4 star hotel. Perfect location and nice staff. But that’s all. The room was completely different from the photos. There’s nothing like curtains to block the water from shower and the water just splashing around the toilet and the whole floor. If we knew this, we wouldn’t have booked this hotel. Location is perfect so I would recommend this hotel to people who don’t really care about shower.. Other rooms could be different and better than our room…

Stayed for a week during one of the busiest times of the year for Melbourne - AFL Grand Final week. We had 2 rooms. Property was in a great location - so central with trams on your doorstep and walking distance to places like Fed Square, Sealife Aquarium, Crown Complex, DFO, Burke Street Mall and the free City Circle tram. Rooms were clean and a good size with a little kitchenette which was handy. One room had a larger bathroom then the other but it was still more then adequate. We arrived very early before check in and were able to store our luggage while we went out for the day. On the ground floor was a small food court with a few different cuisines and a couple of good basic “cafe styles” which served good coffee and breakfasts. Would stay here again. Only minor complaints would be that one of our rooms wasn’t ready when we checked in (and we had flown the midnight horror so really was looking forward to a lie down lol) and we had to wait for it a couple of hours BUT as said before it was GF week so they were very busy. And one of the rooms was a bit more “tired” then the other but still more then adequate. I am nit picking really. We enjoyed our stay here.

We always love staying here as its close to everything and the fact that Aldi is nextdoor is a big plus as well. Price is very reasonable and amenities are quite good. Overall cannot find any fault. Also very close to Queen Victoria Markets which is a memorable place. Will keep on coming back.

A brand new hotel is always good to experience - fresh rooms and public areas. Great staff throughout. Excellent coffee in lobby. Great location with awesome bars and restaurants close by. My only negative is “city view” rooms have a city view when standing up - but when sitting down or in bed the glass has privacy screen as lots of other buildings around.

Been most enjoyabke , good location , nearby alot conveninece stores, eateries , shopping, walk 2 stops anc hop onto free tram zone around cbd area.

The gentleman at the reception was very pleasant and helpful. We had to pay $30 per night for private parking but it's hard to find anywhere in Melbourne that has private parking. All other places couldn't guarantee a spot, but this one did. The room was clean, and the view was of a massive Police Office block and the railyard and the train station. the place had all the basics, but the fridge was locked up in the cupboard with the microwave sitting on bits of wood on top of the fridge. The TV was nice and big, and the chairs were comfy. The bed was too hard for my back, so I did wake up each morning with a sore back. We thought we had a balcony, but it turned out to be an enclosure for the aircon unit The pool was in another block, so we didn't manage to get there. The location was a bit out of the CBD but we needed the exercise. Overall satisfied with Lumina

The picture on the website is for a front room. It cost us $190 for Thursday Sunday and Monday and $198 for Friday and Saturday nights. It's right on Lygon Street which is very noisy with traffic. The room had a small balcony. Curiously there's no hotel chain represented in Carlton, but having stayed at the Clocktower (which is VERY basic) we opted for this property. It does have a small lift but you walk through the carpark, past boxes and bits of old furniture, rubbish bins etc. to get to it. The room itself was quite big, with a separate bathroom (very small shower) and kitchenette area. It was clean and the towels were good, toilet paper very cheap and thin, always a worry. The air conditioner in our room stopped working the night before we left, and the bathroom door handle became very loose as a screw fell out of it. Lygon St itself looks sad, with many restaurants and shops up for lease or closed permanently, thanks to Covid. For nearly a thousand dollars for 5 nights, we will not be staying here again.

We arrived out of hours and were expecting trouble however it was a simple phone call and we got our key. We got a great deal on our accommodation, which had more than enough for our needs. The facilities (pool etc) were great and everything in our room worked perfectly. the air con was cold and quiet, the TV was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. The only thing I noticed was the walls (toilet) and curtains (main entrance) are a little dirty (probably due to being a specific room for lots of children?) however this is just fussy. I will most definitely stay at Discovery Park again without any hesitation. From check in to check out it was easy, quiet and stress free exactly what I needed
