Cairns Hotels with Free Parking.

This hotel was the best I stayed at during my trip to Australia. Although the overall exterior of the hotel looks a bit old, it's still fantastic. The location is the best, right by the bay in Cairns. When you open the window, the fresh sea breeze washes over you, and you can see the coconut trees swaying outside from your bed. I never wanted to come inside when sitting on the balcony every day. The room facilities are also quite complete, although the bed is a bit soft. It would be perfect if it were a little firmer. The hotel's breakfast restaurant is on the first floor, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery outside the window while having breakfast. There's a wide variety of breakfast options, and the egg burrito is delicious. If I come to Cairns again, I will definitely choose Hilton Cairns again.

The hotel's location is excellent, with a wide variety of dining options right downstairs. Our family of three booked a suite, and they added a single bed in the living room, which was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast selection was also very rich and diverse, offering great value for money! A quick tip: there aren't as many hotels in Cairns as one might expect, and even during the off-season, this hotel's rooms can be scarce. It's best to book your entire stay at once, as trying to extend your reservation day-by-day might mean you won't find availability.

The room facilities are probably on par with a 3-star hotel in China. It's a bit closer to the airport, and a taxi ride there costs around $22. We stayed here for one night and didn't use the hotel pool. There was a singer performing in the bar that evening, and it was really nice to grab a beer and listen to the music. One of the elevators made a surprisingly loud noise when it opened, which was a bit startling.

The room was spacious and well-equipped with a microwave, cutlery, and a fridge. It's super close to both the ferry terminal and Cairns train station. There's a breakfast spot right opposite the hotel and a supermarket nearby, perfect for grabbing bread to heat up in the microwave. The front desk staff were really helpful, even assisting us with booking a taxi. The laundry facilities were fantastic, with large washing machines and dryers. Just a heads-up, the hotel doesn't provide slippers or toothbrushes, so remember to bring your own!

I stayed at two hotels in Cairns, 3 nights at Hilton and 3 nights at Shangri-La. My conclusion: if I go back to Cairns, I won't stay at Hilton again, but I will choose Shangri-La. Regarding the facilities: both hotels were booked for deluxe twin rooms. Shangri-La was clean and tidy with newer facilities, clearly superior to Hilton. Hilton was noticeably old and dated, not even reaching the standard of a 3-star hotel in China. Regarding service: Shangri-La provided bottled drinking water daily. Hilton did not provide bottled water; guests had to use the glass bottles in their room to get water from the dispenser in the hallway. The dispenser on our floor was broken and unusable. Regarding breakfast: Shangri-La's breakfast was more varied and available until 10:30 AM, effectively serving as brunch. What's more, no staff came to rush guests to finish even at 10:30 AM. Hilton's breakfast was not as varied as Shangri-La's and ended at 9:30 AM. Around 9:15 AM, staff started clearing up and cleaning, removing empty plates from our table without asking and reminding us that breakfast would close at 9:30 AM.

The staff were incredibly friendly. Also, I felt very secure and at ease knowing that a card key was required to enter both the hotel entrance and the rooms, which is a great security feature. The $10 dinner at the attached pub, which was pizza when I went, had a crispy crust and was absolutely delicious – I was extremely satisfied.

This place is perfect for long-term stays or for those renting a car! ♥ I stayed in a room with a kitchen and washing machine because I wanted to cook with local ingredients in Cairns. There's a Coles (supermarket) nearby, so I had no trouble finding food and drinks. The glasses, cups, cutlery, pots, rice cooker, and various cooking utensils were all perfectly stocked. 🤗 Things I brought from Japan for the kitchen: ↓ Chopsticks, plastic spoons, forks Salt, pepper, herb salt Yakiniku sauce Dressing (small convenience store size) Wakame soup (instant) Wasabi Cooking oil Mentsuyu (noodle soup base) Dish soap About 20 small garbage bags for food waste About 20 plastic bags that can hold two 2-liter bottles Alcohol wet wipes (25 sheets) *Can be used for cleaning 🫩 Things I didn't particularly use: ↓ Plastic spoons and forks 🥲 Things I wish I had brought: ↓ Sponge Steel wool Instant miso soup (I had it ready but forgot to bring it 😣) 👙 Regarding the Pool 🌴 There are 3 pools, one of which is heated. Please bring towels from your room. Regarding Trash. There's a trash disposal area near the entrance. No sorting is required, so just put everything in. 🫙🥫🍎🐟️ 🚘️ Regarding Parking 🚙 The rule is to park wherever there's an empty spot. What if there's no space? (lol) It was crowded, but I managed to find a spot. 🧺 Regarding the Washing Machine 👕👖 I brought gel laundry detergent pods. I did laundry twice during my 5-night stay. There wasn't a dedicated place to hang clothes on hangers, but I managed to dry them somehow. There were some drying options, but not enough. I think there were about 12 hangers in the room. At check-in, there was a Japanese staff member at reception, which was a great help. 💆 Reception hours are Mon-Fri 7 AM - 7 PM. I forgot the weekend hours. 😓 *As mentioned above, early check-in is not possible, so for those arriving early in the morning, I recommend staying one night at a hotel that offers early check-in.

I expected much better from a hotel carrying the Ramada name. We arrived just after midnight, exactly as we had advised the hotel in advance. To our surprise, the entrance gates were locked. There was a phone number on the gate to call for assistance, but despite repeated calls, nobody answered. We could see reception from outside, and could clearly hear the phone ringing, but there was no one there to help. After standing on the roadside for around 15 minutes with two tired children in the middle of the night, I ended up climbing over the locked fence just to unlock the gate from the inside so my family could enter. Once inside, we rang the reception bell several times before anyone appeared. Around 20 minutes later, the receptionist (a gentleman with long hair) eventually arrived. Rather than apologising for leaving a family locked outside at midnight, he simply said he had been ”dealing with something”, that there were ”100 guests and just him”, and told us, ”you need patience.” Those are his exact words. I appreciate that staff can be busy, but this was a complete failure of customer service. An apology would have gone a long way. Instead, we were met with rudeness and a dismissive attitude. It was one of the worst customer service experiences I have encountered. The hotel itself was also disappointing. The photos on the website appear to be either very old or heavily enhanced. The grounds look nothing like the promotional images—there are no palm trees as shown, and the swimming pool sits right beside the car park, giving it a very different feel from what is advertised. The one major positive is the location. It's within easy walking distance of the city centre, which was extremely convenient. Unfortunately, because of the poor customer service on arrival and the misleading impression created by the website photos, I would not choose to stay here again

The unit is adequate for my family of six for a 3-night stay. Basic necessities are generally met, and the overall stay was acceptable. However, there were several maintenance and usability issues that affected comfort. Some air-conditioning remotes were faulty or missing batteries, requiring us to swap between rooms to find working ones. The telephone/RJ45 connection head was also broken and left dangling, with wiring not properly connected, which gave a poor impression of upkeep. In terms of sleeping comfort, the beds are quite soft and the pillows offer very little support. The positioning of the electrical wall outlets behind the bed also made it inconvenient, as we had to shift the bed forward to access the sockets. For kitchen use, it would be helpful to provide basic dishwashing supplies such as a small bottle of dishwashing liquid and a sponge, especially when only a few items are used in the dishwasher. On a positive note, the bathroom facilities are in good condition. Water pressure is strong and hot water is consistently available, which made showers comfortable. Overall, the stay was acceptable, but there is clear room for improvement in maintenance and basic guest amenities.

The hotel's location is in the city center. My flight arrived early, so I took an Uber from the airport for AU$30 (it can be as cheap as AU$20 during off-peak hours), arriving at the hotel around 12:00 PM. The front desk informed me that check-in wasn't possible until after 2:00 PM, which is standard policy. However, I was also told that luggage storage wasn't free and would cost AU$6 to use a locker. I've stayed at many hotels where luggage storage is complimentary for guests, so this charging policy felt quite unfriendly. Thankfully, I didn't have much luggage, so I just took it with me to grab some food before coming back to check in. After checking in, I noticed other issues: 1. The Wi-Fi signal was very weak, almost non-existent during the day (it was sometimes usable at night). When I asked the front desk, they said there was nothing they could do. I ended up using my China Mobile data (capped at 30 RMB/day, which was acceptable). There was a router-like device in the room, but the front desk said it was only for connecting the phone and not related to the internet. 2. The bathroom sink faucet was too low, so I had to use the showerhead to fill the electric kettle. 3. The toilet seat was installed at an awkward angle and wouldn't stay up on its own; you had to hold it, which was quite strange. 4. The door's soundproofing wasn't very good; I could hear people talking in the corridor late at night. On the positive side: The staff tried their best to provide good service, but the issues with the hardware were beyond their control. Although the hotel equipment was a bit old, the room was spacious with a private bathroom. The in-room facilities were quite comprehensive, with multiple USB charging ports (which are not common in Australian hotels). The room was also clean, tidy, and quiet. After 6:00 PM daily, a password was required to enter the main hotel door, which felt secure. Directly opposite the hotel, across the road, was a Woolworths supermarket (6:00 AM - 10:00 PM), and there were plenty of dining options nearby. Most departure points for Great Barrier Reef day trips at the Reef Fleet Terminal were a 10-minute walk away. The hotel's greatest asset is its location, followed by its relatively cheap price and spacious rooms with private bathrooms. Despite these various issues, personally, I might still choose to stay at Hides again next time I'm in Cairns.
