THE place to stay in Shaoshan. I felt like I was at home, tucked into a quiet wooded corner of town. They helped me organize my short stay, drove me around, and cooked up an excellent breakfast. They were great company and my only complaint is that I couldn’t stay longer. (The room was perfect; the pictures speak for themselves.)

The room was very clean, and the air was exceptionally fresh, making for a pleasant morning run. The landlady kindly picked us up from the station, which was very convenient. It's best to drive here, as it's about a 15-minute walk to Chairman Mao's former residence. We found it very pleasant to walk in spring, but for those who don't want to walk, taking a taxi isn't very convenient. The atmosphere in the scenic area is wonderful, and the water is all spring water. Next time I come, I'll definitely go hiking and stay for a few more days.

This is a very typical rural B&B, with a restaurant on the first floor and guest rooms on the second and third floors. The B&B is located in a village at the entrance of the scenic spot. Parking is allowed and pets are allowed. It is about 500 meters away from the former residence of the elders and the Bronze Statue Square. The owner's service is warm and the room is clean. The facilities are simple and outdated. The bathroom did not provide bath towels and there was no shower. The bedding may be too basic and make a twitching sound when you turn over. In Shaoshan in March, the temperature at night was very low, so I needed to turn on the air conditioner, but the sound from the outdoor air conditioner was loud, like a tractor. When I turned off the air conditioner, the same sound came from the outdoor air conditioners in other rooms, and the quilt was a little thin. Great choice for light sleepers. It’s okay to just pass by on a self-driving tour and stay overnight.

The hotel environment was comfortable. Our room type was quite a walk, located at the end of the corridor, where I could see a fountain. The room itself was spacious, but the carpet was a bit dirty. Parking was tight; it was a hit or miss situation. Breakfast offered fruit salad, mini wontons, bacon, and boiled eggs, but only one of the two breakfast display areas was set up, perhaps because it was too early and the kitchen wasn't fully prepared yet. If you order takeout, it's only delivered to the designated takeout area at the entrance, and there are no robots for delivery.

The smart room is hygienic and clean. It should have been recently renovated. The toilet is also smart. Everything is very new. It is very close to the highway toll station. It’s just that you have to walk a while to eat. Everything else is fine.

Stayed here for two days, it is worth visiting in depth, very close to the core attractions such as Grandpa Mao's former residence, bronze statue square, life exhibition, etc. It is within walking distance, there are environmental protection station points nearby, and it is convenient to go to other attractions. The boss is also a Mao family. I heard a lot of fun things. The proprietress is a clean person. The sanitation is very good. There is a disposable mattress. I have lived in the most worry-free time in the homestay. I will come again next time!

The owners of this place are the nicest people ever! Even though we did not ask, they gave us a ride to and from the train station as well as to Chairman Mao's former residence. The location is great, it would not have been a long walk but the ride made our visit even smoother. The hosts gave us Chairman Mao pins for free and made us delicious breakfast for a really cheap price. They truly are such nice people! They don't speak much English but I'm sure you would manage just fine with a translator app. The room was a great fit for us, two couples travelling together, and it had everything we needed. We only stayed for one night since there is not a whole lot to see in this town but we would have loved to stay for longer just because the hosts were so nice. Although the hotel is in the center of the pedestrian street, but fortunately there is no nightlife, so it will not be too noisy at night, the living is very comfortable, sleep very at ease, it is recommended.
