Peebles Hydro

It really is outdated, compared to other spas and hotels of similar ilk. For instance I stayed at Dunked house, it was night and day. The staff are great but the place needs a lot of money spent on it. In our room 317 we hd a television that had half the screen darker than the other half, good thing we didn't go here to watch the telly. The pool area was nice but needs refurbed. The big steps taking you down the front are dangerous for elderly people, they are patched up and in a very, very, "note the two very's" bad state to of affairs to say the least. Would I stay here again, probably not till the place has been upgraded. Looking at what I have seen of the hotel, this is going to take millions of pounds to do. I enjoyed the archery, the wee girl was a great help. To be fair the staff are lovely but things really need to improve on the hotel side.

We had our wedding there on the 17th Aug and OMG .... it was everything and more than what we expected!!! The staff .... was amazing!!!!! They looked after all of us sooo well!!!! The ceremony room looked amazing and the ballroom where we had the wedding breakfast and party was stunning!!!!! We were also lucky with the weather and managed to do our wedding pictures outside in their lovely gardens!!!!! The food was so tasty, evening buffet was enormous!!!! We trully think it was the best venue for us!!

Booked here for a 1 night stay to relax and unwind. Sadly the experience was anything but this. Our room on the third floor had damp marks all over the ceiling, very off putting on arrival. The noises coming from above , mixed with a very high room temperature, made for a terrible nights sleep. I have had more relaxing stays in a Travel Lodge. Checked out feeling the need for another break somewhere.

A great hotel in a beautiful setting, very friendly staff and loads of facilities. Plus a short walk into the town of Peebles which has a wide range of shops to suit everyone x

We spent two nights at Peebles Hydro to celebrate my boyfriend's 50th birthday. The card and chocolates in our room upon arrival was a lovely and much appreciated gesture. All the staff from reception to restaurant to distillery were very helpful and friendly. Parking and check in were easy. The location is lovely and only 10 minutes walk to the town centre for restaurants, bars and shops. The John Buchan museum also worth a visit. We dined in The Grill Room, had drinks in Not The Cocktail Bar, used the spa twice and had a look in the distillery where the chief distiller broke off what he was doing to give us a tasting of their unusual smoky gin. The slight ******* were two lights in our room didn't work (we did report at reception), the shower in our room on the 3rd floor didn't have much pressure (as noted on other reviews), some of the hot breakfast items were a bit congealed (if it had been my first time tasting haggis there wouldn't be a second!), linen on the tables for dinner would have made it nicer, we thought the spa would be more relaxing (children allowed in with splash toys and only four loungers around the pool) and we only found the spa robes in our room right before check out (hiding at the back of the top shelf in the wardrobe so a note mentioning their location would have been nice). However, saying all that, the staff really make this hotel and it was a great place to celebrate a special occasion.

A once nice hotel in a lovely setting but in need of some tlc, leisure centre is run down and needs a refurb and the jacuzzi was not working which was disappointing. Had food in The Not Cocktail bar, cocktails were good and food average. Booked in for facials and was ok but they were busy and disorganised. Overall our stay was ok but not worth the money.

I stayed here for 3 nights as part of a large group booking for work. The hotel location is great, the views are spectacular on a sunny day! I stayed in room only accessible by going out of the main building but ground floor level. It was very spacious and modern. Double bed, kettle, iron, hair dryer, tv, shampoo/conditioner but no shower gel. The reception staff were brilliant nothing too much trouble. All of the staff I encountered (there were a lot always working hard) were friendly and nothing was too much bother, which made my trip really pleasent. The food breakfast lunch and dinner were all declicous no complaints! The grounds are lovely to with llamas and an easy walk across the road via cricket club to join the river for a walk! Really enjoyed my stay here!

Popped in for coffee on our way to Kailzie Gardens - which I highly recommend. This was about 1045 only to be told they don't serve coffee until 1100. A very nice young man served us and we asked for biscuits. He reappeared 10 minutes later with a packet of 2 biscuits saying that's all he could find, so the 3 of us shared the 2 biscuits. It would seem that the hotel doesn't really cater for 'pop ins' , unlike the Crieff Hydro which I use frequently Service great, logistics poor

I have just returned from a two night stay at the Hydro with my elderly parents (83 years old) and cannot fault our visit. The staff were so accommodating. Two day before we were due to visit I asked for an accessible room due to my parents mobility issues. Neither can walk very far nor can they manage stairs. No problem. We were allocated rooms 30 and 31. They were perfect, on the ground floor along from the spa. Each room was spacious and the bathroom / wet room ideal for their needs, with grab rails and a seat. As an able bodied person also in an accessible room it didn’t feel clinical or different. They were warm, cosy and very quiet. We took part in the gin tasting as part of our stay. It was very enjoyable and our host very knowledgeable and attentive. The waiting staff were kind and courteous. Any dietary requirements, from pureeing soup to heating a weetabix with warm milk, was dealt with no fuss and a smile. Special thanks to Robbie R. Everyone appeared to go that extra mile. This is my third visit and my parents first. We all enjoyed ourselves. Thank you.
