Bar staff Ricardo and everyone else go above and beyond. Each and every staff member are friendly and accommodating. Room was spotless, Clean hotel, good food and definitely recommend this hotel. "Before all, people, employees are the utmost sympathy and are always available to make your stay enjoyable. Great people. Problem is management, maintenance, customer service: Went as a couple, on arrival they gave us a bedroom with twin beds, and a broken TV, when we asked to join the beds they changed us to another room in another building. Room was hot, but the AC was off. But no one told us it was broken. Room during the day is at 29°/30° unusable, at night if the night is fresher ot cools to 26°. Plenty of complaints, and we got plenty of crap excuses and blatant lies and they refused to change the room. They say it's a general problem, it isn't. It's a problem of a specific building, and one of the smallest ones. I've asked around other clients. And the common areas are have fully working AC. The room is also far from 5 star in terms of space, has ants all over, and the TV constantly looses signal. But the worst is the lies, the management incompetence, the lack of overall maintenance that in this countries needs to be preventive. And with 25 experience in construction including in Cabo Verde I know how things work, and I was quite tolerant at the beginning but they only showed a complete despise for their clients, it's a fraud calling this a 5star. Impossible to use the room during the day, uncomfortable nights, and an headache to communicate with a management that "spits" on their customers. Avoid at all costs unless you want your vacation ruined."

"We are in the resort now. Celebrating my husbands 60th birthday. Our room is nice, spotless, cleaned to high standard every day. You can ask for tea making supplies if you want them in your room. We are furthest from reception and pool areas so nice and quiet and it’s a nice enough walk. Paths are swept every morning, underneath the sun loungers could do with sweeping daily too. There are plenty of sun loungers and no need to rush to put your towels out but some still do! Public areas and facilities are clean and tidy. The coffee machines in the dining area are a bit unreliable. There’s some chipped crockery and the plates are cold. Food is plentiful, lots of choice however as with all buffet style meals food is not as hot as we like. Drinks in the bar areas are very good, no complaints. Most of the staff are very pleasant and accommodating. One or two appear to be less so and some need to smarten up to create a good impression. 2 staff members we found sleeping on sofas in the reception during their night shift. This does not create a 5 star impression. UK visitors are definitely a tiny minority of the hotel but we feel our needs have been accommodated. We are enjoying our stay and this is our honest opinion."

"Very very good experience. Nice relaxing holiday by the beautiful sea. Staff work tirelessly for your comfort and enjoyment. Yes the building is tired and needs updating but that certainly doesn't reduce your enjoyment. The food is varied, good quality and the pasta is without doubt some of the best ive had anywhere. Drinks are good quality including the soft drinks which in.some hotels are horrible but not here. Cocktails are nice. Had a lovely massage while I was here, would recommend. Overall we had a great weeks holiday! Thanks very much Occidental boa vista beach."

"Fantastic experience - location, amenities, staff. We had a few minor issues with the room, all of which were resolved promptly once we reported them. We only ate in the main buffet restaurant - Africa. The staff were attentive, without being intrusive. We sat outside for breakfast, at the same table each day, and the staff very quickly recognised our usual habits, responding without being prompted after just a couple of days. It was the same for lunch and dinner, where we sat inside. Even though the staff were on rotation, they quickly recognised what we had to drink at each meal time and what additional cutlery we needed. Even to the point where by the last few days of our stay they had set our table in advance of us coming to eat. I can only reiterate the excellent service given by the restaurant staff, whichever shift team were in attendance. The room was in good condition, clean and perfect for our needs. Cleaned everyday, always to a high standard, with fresh towels every time - which was important, as we showered around 3 times a day."

"The hotel is predominantly Italian people, I was I think the only English person! However the staff are friendly and the location fabulous! A short walk to the fabulous beach (uphill on the way back) but not that strenuous. Rooms are basic but good they have everything you need and it was quiet. Pool area is lovely and clean. Nighttime entertainment is low key it’s a place to relax. Food is plentiful and of a good standard. Overall a pleasant stay."
