Best Western Plus Boomtown Casino Hotel

BW Plus Boomtown is my choice for associates (truck drivers) when in need of hotel accommodations that offer location, truck parking, food options and affordability. The hotel ****** provides everything my associates need. Great location as well. I use this hotel numerous times throughout the year.

This is a ******, of course, and guests must wend their way through the games to find the elevators to the hotel towers. I wasn't the only guest who got lost, but it turns out there's a little map in the key card holder they give you when you check in. I didn't see it until I turned in my key card at checkout. It's an older building and has plenty of free parking. Cost seemed reasonable, no surprise fees. The room was clean and the mattress and pillows were excellent, just to my preference. There's a fridge and microwave and of course a TV. My room looked out on the indoor pool and the evening I went to bed early the sound of kids playing right outside my window woke me up. They weren't being obnoxiously loud, just kids having fun, and the parents took them in before it got very late, so it wasn't a problem but could be if pool guests are inconsiderate. The ice machine and vending is not near the elevators or any place else a guest would naturally think to look. I wandered a LONG way through the maze of corridors before I found them, and I never went back because it was ridiculously far from my room. The AC unit was very loud -- I just kept it on constant fan instead of auto so that it wouldn't jar me away each time it kicked on. There was a low, electronic thrumming sound that kept me awake, too. It wasn't the AC but seemed to come from the area of the microwave. I heard it all night the first night, but just occasionally on the second night.

Sadly, this hotel feel far below expectations. The room smelled of both cigarette and pot smoke. Even the bedding smelled of cigarette smoke. The balcony was useless as you would need to stand to even have a view (see photo). The water was turned off unexpectedly one morning and when I called the front desk, was told "sorry 'bout that." I had already booked for two prepaid nights, otherwise I would have stayed elsewhere the second night.

There’s nothing that I don’t like, it’s just that it’s kind a old hotel for me.

Customer service was exceptional. From checking in… small requests and check out. Room service to be clean daily is no longer offered … kinda weird Room appearance was a little dated. And the hallway in the suite was slanted in the entryway (see pic below) shower had decent pressure and heated up pretty quickly. But there was lime scale visible on the shower doors. Coffee maker was positioned in the room with no outlet and I had to move the table and coffee maker to the outlet near the tv. Mattress was a little worn but manageable for a short stay.

Hotel did not honor my requestnfor a non smoking room.

Bed were comfy..but I use my own pillow..What I do like is that they have a microwave..kurig coffee maker and a mini fridge in the units which makes it nice it u have to warm something up. Bathroom is kinda small while opening the door I feel like the door is gonna hit the toilet.

Complete waste of a trip. Upon arriving my 5 year old went to use the bathroom in the room. When trying to leave the bathroom the door handle fell off. We tried to call down to the front desk and the first phone in the room was broken. Used the second phone in the room and was able to get maintenance up to the room. 4 maintenance guys and 20 minutes later they finally got her out. Staff nicely gave both my children unlimited ride cards for the inconvenience. That was great, except there was a fire across the street and the fire fighters cut power to the hotel. They were able to go on 3 rides before this happened. Since the power was out that meant no ******, no fun zone, no pool, basically all the amenities were down. We did not trust the elevator during the power outage so we tried to use the stairs to go back up to our room. Nope, door to the stairwell was locked, who needs safety right? When the power came back up the kids were ready for bed so a couple adults went down to the ******. Systems were still coming up from the power outage and we were told to give it about 30 minutes. Upon returning 40 minutes or so later, they were still not up. They told us maybe another 1-2 hours but they were not even sure about that. We gave up and went to bed. Long story short. I booked this hotel because of the fun stuff I thought my kids would enjoy on site. Drove 4 hours and spent $350 for the night and had access to none of this. I called and spoke with the AGM, there was a half hearted apology for the bathroom incident and then a "power was not our fault, we're not doing anything about it" . Will not return
