"I went on a solo trip to celebrate my birthday. I really enjoyed my stay. The stuff in the entire hotel were super friendly, very respectful and ready to give assistance. Also, I really enjoyed food at the Umi restaurant… I frequently went there and was served by a waiter called Martin. He was very welcoming and warm. He made my stay much fun, plus he is very helpful in giving nice food suggestions.. I loved it all. I have no complaints about anything. I had so much fun. I’ll definitely go back to Majlis."

Peponi Hotel ★★★

📍 PW48+39F, Shela

"It was my second time back to Peponi in a year and I loved every minute of it. There are few establishments in the world that can top this enclave of elegance, authenticity and personalized hospitality, where guests from around the world and locals sit side by side to watch the sun set and share tales of the day whilst listening to the lapping of the water. The food is fantastic (fresh fish that doesn’t get better), as are the views and location - right on the beach, yet next to the village - but it is the service and personal attention of both staff and management, that makes this hotel truly special. Each guest is welcomed and attended to in a way that few hotels can achieve today. The Korschen Family has truly built an institution that rivals the great hotels of the world but without the pomp and ceremony that usually go with that label. Without a doubt, my absolute favourite place to rest and rejuvenate!"

"We came here for dinner and really enjoyed it. Had a lovely corner table looking out over the water and the food was delicious. I had the swahili fish curry and my husband had a grilled fish. The mocktails are very good as well and the service was excellent. The grounds look lovely too!"

"Friends! If you are looking for a place to unwind, unplug, reset, make memories, heal, remember yourself, some sprinkling of all the above, I cannot recommend The Majlis Resort emphatically enough. Three generations of my family found a home here for a few nights and we couldn’t have had a better time if we tried. From the rooms, to the compound, to the amenities and activity offerings, everything was immaculately maintained, well-equipped and tastefully designed. And we ate like royalty! Most importantly, everyone was so pleasant, thoughtful and professional and met us with smiles and a gentle greeting or offer of help. I had such a serenely wonderful stay. Thank you Majlis!"

"I decided to join my husband on a week’s salt water fly fishing expedition, except I cannot fly fish. So I indulged in a week long culinary experience literally trying every fish dish on a rather extensive menu. Chef Ray is amazing! The food is world class and to think that all supplies are bussed in or flown in with a short water transfer to the hotel. The hotel is perfectly situated on the beach and has very comfortable rooms with WiFi. The pool area is just beautiful and one can easily spend all day in the water admiring the view. A subset cruise in a traditional dhow is a must as is a massage with Mercy - the best I have ever had! Proprietor Carol is a fountain of local knowledge and so accommodating. The staff are attentive and the cocktails kept on flowing! I am about to enjoy my last pot of Kenya Gold tea on my veranda….. and hope to be back next year!"
