Great
SSvetaLLovely hotel. People working here are really kind and will do their best to recommend places you want to see. Close enough to old town (a little bit of a walk) but more local area. Possible to walk to the morning market and JR Station (about 15 minutes) and there's other restaurants quite close by as well (including one that is famous for the salt ramen of Hakodate). The hostel itself was clean, and comfortable. Hakodate was wonderful to visit for a few nights as well and I could have easily stayed longer at this hostel!
GGuest UserThe room was a bit small, but it's very close to Hakodate JR Station, which you can see from the window and is about a 5-minute walk away. The hotel is also very near Hakodate Morning Market, roughly 100m away, and there's a tram stop right outside. The breakfast was good, and the price in January was very cheap, offering excellent value for money. The front desk staff can speak simple English, and both check-in and check-out are done via machines, making the process very quick.
PPooM RagI stayed here for two nights and booked a double room. When I opened the door, I was quite surprised—it turned out to be two queen-size beds pushed together with a large shared blanket. The bed itself was very comfortable.
The air conditioning couldn’t be adjusted in detail; you could only turn it on, choose a level, or turn it off.
There was no need to insert a key card for electricity. The bathroom was standard, but housekeeping forgot to remove the trash and left it on the bed. Aside from that, everything else was very good. The location is excellent, right across from the station.
뭉뭉수리Free breakfast is served from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM, and free udon is available from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. There's also a public bath and sauna on the 7th floor of the hotel, open until 10:40 PM. I highly recommend A-GATE Hotel for budget travelers! Two thumbs up!
AAnonymous UserConvenient to visit Goryogaku park and surrounding areas, abundant of restaurant and bars nearby
Room size is OK, best it's with onsen spa and free massage chair, quite relaxing to use after one day travel.
Front desk is very nice to explain every steps going to mount Hakodate, bravo to the team front desk team!
GGuest UserThe hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the JR station. The rooms are very clean and have a washing machine and dryer. Laundry balls are provided for washing clothes. There is a delicious ramen shop nearby. It is a 3-minute walk from the beach. On the last day, it rained heavily, and the front desk helped call a taxi. The service was very good. It's just that the area is a bit quiet at night. It's good value for money.
AAnonymous UserThe location is excellent, just sandwiched in the middle. I entered the room before 14 o'clock, and thank you for the front desk. The bed was small and the room was small, but just an area was empty to spread out the large suitcase, and the design was very good. The warm light effect is very good (in fact, it is 2 bulbs 💡) The hand sanitizer smells good. Disadvantages: Dry laundry
AAnonymous UserThe room's location is excellent, just a 5-7 minute walk from Hakodate Station, making it very convenient for getting around. There are also many restaurants nearby. It's not too far from the Red Brick Warehouses and Mount Hakodate, just a few bus stops away.
GGuest UserThe location is at the Yunokawa Seaside. The view from the seaside rooms is amazing, and the outdoor hot springs can directly see the sea, which is amazing. However, the room facilities are old and the toilet is not smart. Can you believe that Japanese public toilets are all smart, but the toilet in this hotel is not smart. I went there in winter and it was cold. The experience was terrible. But the price is relatively friendly, so I can only bear it. Next to the hotel is the famous botanical garden, where monkeys take a hot spring bath
GGuest UserThe room itself was a little bit small and quite cramped. Just about enough space for one. But if you are plus sized it might seem too small. The toilet was also slightly narrow.
Facilities were great, with onsen available. Within touching distance of the local public street car and bus stop. Front desk were really friendly and helpful despite the limited English spoken. They also operate early from 8am till fairly late 10pm. And the nearest konbini was also only about 200m away.
