I stayed in a D-Fourth Non smoking room on the 8th floor. The room has a nice view of Mount Hakodate from the balcony and a view of the port from the bedroom window. Room was clean and there is daily cleaning if you ask for it. Cooking utensils are available though no condiments provided. The bath system is electronic and took a while to figure out how to use it. Room was spacious and adequate for 4 of us. What we loved is that while the dryer did not really dry our clothes (separate washer and dryer), the heater in the room was strong enough to dry them and we could borrow a rack from the hotel to hang them out to dry. Only improvement we would like to suggest - we arrived when it was snowing heavily, and as we moved our luggage into the room the floor became wet and dirtied, we had to clean with tissue as there is no floor cleaner available.would be nice to provide self cleaning tools especially since there is a kitchen and things might spill. And also the balcony did not have any ‘balcony’ shoes so it was just too cold to step outside to enjoy the scenary. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Would choose it again if we go Hakodate.

This was our first time staying in a ryokan and it was beyond our expectations by a large margin. The service was incredible, and the attentiveness and kindness of the staff was greatly appreciated. The breakfast in the room was a treat in and of itself!
The location is about 45 or so mins by tram from the city centre or 12 mins by taxi. It is in the onsen part of the city with two foot bath onsens within 5 mins walking distance. The tropical nature park with the 'hot tub monkeys' are a 7 min walk away and the views are wonderful.
This was really a pleasure for us both to stay here and a real highlight for our whole trip to Hokkaido. Highly reccomend!

The hotels in the Yunokawa Onsen area are generally quite average, and Umi to Akari, which is a Four Points by Marriott, is no exception. However, its price is double what you'd expect. Perhaps I booked too last minute. To be honest, for this price, I'd choose other, higher-end options, and even taking a taxi there to enjoy the hot springs would be more cost-effective. This hotel does offer day-use hot spring access.
Here's my experience from a few perspectives:
1. **Hygiene:** You generally don't need to worry about hygiene in Japanese hotels, and this place is no different.
2. **Dining:** I opted for the one-night, two-meal plan, and after checking in, I realized it was the worst decision. The food quality was truly average. Although there was a lot of seafood and unlimited crab legs, it was just… mediocre. I ate one meal and never went back. I'd rather walk across the street to ”Ichimonji” for Hokkaido ramen 🍜. Coincidentally, it was a Japanese holiday, and the breakfast queue was unbelievably long 🤪.
3. **Clientele:** This hotel primarily caters to tour groups. Buses kept pulling up, dropping off loads of tourists, if you catch my drift.
4. **Accommodation:** The bed and pillows were really uncomfortable. I'll spare you the details...
5. **Hot Springs:** Clean, and the quality of the hot spring water was good. It was slightly salty, and my skin felt silky smooth after bathing. There weren't many Chinese guests, and everyone was very particular about hot spring etiquette, maintaining personal space. This was a definite plus (especially with so many tour groups staying there).

The room was spacious enough for three people, but the building looked a bit old, and the carpet smelled damp.
The hotel staff were helpful and helpful in explaining things to us.
The hotel doesn't provide breakfast, and there aren't many nearby restaurants, which was a bit inconvenient.

XINNKONGThe staff were extremely friendly and helpful, making the stay very comfortable from check-in to check-out.
The location is excellent, only about a 3-minute walk from the tram station, which makes getting around very easy. There are also many restaurants nearby, so finding food is never a problem.
The room was clean and well maintained, and the onsen was very nice and relaxing after a long day.
Overall, a great stay and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel's location is fantastic! It's super close to Hakodate Morning Market, squid fishing shops, Hakodate JR Station, and popular restaurants, offering a wide variety of dining options. It's also not far from other attractions. Great value for money, perfect for a family trip.

This was the most delightful onsen ryokan experience I had during my stay in Hakodate. The atmosphere is comfortable, warm, and full of refined taste. The staff were exceptionally kind and professional. I would especially like to thank the gentleman who assisted me during check-in on the afternoon of March 19 2026, due to my own mistake, I missed my dinner and breakfast reservations, but he patiently explained everything to me with great understanding and warmth. I truly appreciated his kindness.
Thank you again, I would be very happy to return here with my family in the future!

I'd call this unbeatable. First off, the front desk service was truly above and beyond my expectations. It was snowing heavily, and the bellhop was still waiting outside for guests to arrive, helping with luggage. The outdoor private onsen in the room was also exceptional; the view and atmosphere were incredible. The breakfast, with its unbeatable ocean view, topped it all off. I had a wonderful day in Hakodate!

김쁘띠If you have a rental car, the location is great. They also don't charge for parking! The accommodation is clean, has a balcony, and there's a convenience store nearby. We had both breakfast and dinner, and the food was nicely prepared and presented. About 95% of the guests were Japanese. The bedding was good, and everything was great, but what stood out the most was the onsen water. I've been to many places in Japan, but I think the seawater onsen here is the best; it makes your skin so smooth!

Absolutely loved it! Falling asleep to the sound of the waves was incredible. It was my first time experiencing an open-air onsen, and I tried both the public bath and the private onsen in my room – both were fantastic! The only minor issue was the lack of power outlets, but overall, it offers great value for money.
