4-Star Hotels in Hakodate

I stayed in a D-Fourth Non smoking room on the 8th floor. The room has a nice view of Mount Hakodate from the balcony and a view of the port from the bedroom window. Room was clean and there is daily cleaning if you ask for it. Cooking utensils are available though no condiments provided. The bath system is electronic and took a while to figure out how to use it. Room was spacious and adequate for 4 of us. What we loved is that while the dryer did not really dry our clothes (separate washer and dryer), the heater in the room was strong enough to dry them and we could borrow a rack from the hotel to hang them out to dry. Only improvement we would like to suggest - we arrived when it was snowing heavily, and as we moved our luggage into the room the floor became wet and dirtied, we had to clean with tissue as there is no floor cleaner available.would be nice to provide self cleaning tools especially since there is a kitchen and things might spill. And also the balcony did not have any ‘balcony’ shoes so it was just too cold to step outside to enjoy the scenary. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Would choose it again if we go Hakodate.

Super stay at this traditional onsen inn! It’s an easy 5 minutes walk from the tram stop and it is a peaceful and hospitable place to stay. We stayed for 2 nights with breakfast included (you have it in your room, the staff come to roll up your tatami 30 mins before - we just went to the onsen during this time) which was traditional Japanese style and delicious. The onsens are not too big but there are outdoor and indoor sections and perfectly adequate. The staff look after you warmly and we loved our experience of traditional Japanese culture here. Oh, and it’s near the Botanical Gardens where we saw monkeys bathing in the onsen.

The room was spacious enough for three people, but the building looked a bit old, and the carpet smelled damp. The hotel staff were helpful and helpful in explaining things to us. The hotel doesn't provide breakfast, and there aren't many nearby restaurants, which was a bit inconvenient.

This was the most delightful onsen ryokan experience I had during my stay in Hakodate. The atmosphere is comfortable, warm, and full of refined taste. The staff were exceptionally kind and professional. I would especially like to thank the gentleman who assisted me during check-in on the afternoon of March 19 2026, due to my own mistake, I missed my dinner and breakfast reservations, but he patiently explained everything to me with great understanding and warmth. I truly appreciated his kindness. Thank you again, I would be very happy to return here with my family in the future!

I booked the hotel a few months ago so I could get a very good price for staying with OMO5. Very comfortable and energetic hotel, especially the common area was a place for relaxing and chill. They have a different set up during the day and at night. The highlight of this hotel is the free shuttle bus services, going around the city, and the paid shuttle service to go up the hill to see the sunset. You would be knowing how chaotic it could be up there so it’s good to have a shuttle bus bringing you up and down back to the hotel door. Also, the hotel offer free tours and I joined the free market walking tour and a bus tour to Onuma National Park. By staying one night, I could use the services before the check in and after the check out, so basically it covered 2 days activities when I was in Hakodate. it’s a super value offer, and I really feel this hotel group has thoughts from traveler’s perspective and try their best to give the best experience and to help reducing hassles for us. Definitely I will book with hotels under Hoshino Resort Group again. Thank you very much.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, making the stay very comfortable from check-in to check-out. The location is excellent, only about a 3-minute walk from the tram station, which makes getting around very easy. There are also many restaurants nearby, so finding food is never a problem. The room was clean and well maintained, and the onsen was very nice and relaxing after a long day. Overall, a great stay and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel's exterior is beautiful and modern, highly recommended! 👍 It's also very close to Hakodate Morning Market. The room itself is quite spacious, and having a microwave and cooking utensils is a huge plus, great for making late-night snacks. What really stood out were the self-service toiletries available for guests, and the fabric freshener provided smelled wonderful and worked great! 😌

Our room was incredibly spacious, featuring a separate large bed and a traditional tatami room within the suite. It felt very open, and each day we could see little monkeys bathing in the tropical botanical garden across the way from our window. This Japanese hotel was incredibly relaxing, with a well-thought-out layout that definitely surpasses many five-star hotels in China, like the Park Hyatt Guangzhou we stayed at later – truly a 'fighter jet among rubbish.' While not luxurious, the meticulous design details made our stay exceptionally comfortable. The food was excellent; despite the crowds, everything was well-organized, and we never had to wait long. Every night, we enjoyed soaking in the hot spring to the sound of the ocean waves, followed by incredibly delicious drinks. The relaxing experience in Hakodate far exceeded that in Sapporo. The only minor drawback is that the hotel isn't directly on the beachfront, which explains why it's much more affordable than nearby places like Hanatsuki or Wakamatsu. It's mostly Japanese guests here, with no international tour groups. Plus, there's a washer and dryer on the top floor.

I'd call this unbeatable. First off, the front desk service was truly above and beyond my expectations. It was snowing heavily, and the bellhop was still waiting outside for guests to arrive, helping with luggage. The outdoor private onsen in the room was also exceptional; the view and atmosphere were incredible. The breakfast, with its unbeatable ocean view, topped it all off. I had a wonderful day in Hakodate!

Facilities: Excellent! My friend enjoyed the public hot spring, and the facilities and views were great. Cleanliness: Good. Both the room and the lobby were clean and bright. Environment: The room view was fantastic! Unbeatable sea view. I'll definitely stay here again next time. Service: The hotel staff were wonderful, very friendly and professional. They helped us with our luggage and even made our beds. Compared to some much more expensive hotels I've stayed at, the service here was even better! I was a bit worried about the service after reading some reviews, but it was absolutely unfounded. My friend and I both regretted not staying an extra night.
