BbabyFrom check-in to check-out, every moment was a healing experience! This isn't just a B&B, it's the warmest ”home away from home” on the trip. For a family with two children, the family room is my ultimate sweet spot.
1. The washing machine and dryer are absolutely perfect for long trips, especially in the summer when traveling with two boys and needing a change of clothes every day.
2. The room is well-planned and fully equipped with all the smart amenities I needed (it's obvious they paid a lot of money to design it). The hair dryer is also very practical and perfect for women with long hair.
3. The breakfast prepared by the hostess has a motherly touch.
4. The mattress is comfortable, and I love the pillows. The villa is very quiet at night.
5. The front desk lady was very friendly and attentive, so I give her a big thumbs up 💗 and even gave her a small gift 🥰

GGuest UserLocated right in the heart of the ancient city, this hotel is a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle. The room was spotless and exceptionally well-appointed, featuring premium toiletries, an electric toothbrush, a Dyson hairdryer, and even a smart toilet. The entire courtyard is incredibly charming, offering a true taste of traditional Shanxi architecture. Breakfast in the courtyard was a highlight, and even when it poured rain on the second morning, we enjoyed a unique experience having breakfast under an umbrella. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and approachable; we could even communicate with them easily via WeChat.
My only minor point of feedback is that the duvet felt a bit too thick for summer; we were still quite warm and sweating even with the air conditioning on. However, this might just be a personal preference. Overall, this place is absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Datong who's looking for a unique and memorable accommodation experience.

MM316382****I discovered a treasure of a B&B hotel that opened this month~~ Pingchengfu is very close to various attractions. In two days, I went to Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, Datong Museum, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, Jingtu Temple, and watched the sunset from the city wall, the intangible cultural heritage of iron flower, etc. Datong city construction is great! Overall, the accommodation experience was full, and I also ate at Kaige Restaurant and Longjuxiang recommended by locals. The overall travel experience was great! Thank you for the service of the B&B brothers and sisters, which is very good. The environment is quiet in the bustling city, and the decoration is antique. If I have the opportunity to come to Datong again next time, I will continue to book! Looking forward to seeing you next time

The location is very convenient. Get off at Gulou and walk a little inside Gulou East Street. It is very close to popular restaurants such as Zini and Longjuxiang.
The environment in the courtyard is superb. The owner said it will be more beautiful in summer.
The rooms are also decorated very interestingly. You can feel that the owner loves life and knows how to live.
I want to say that the things prepared in the room are really complete. In addition to cotton towels and regular toiletries, there are also underwear detergents and white shoes detergents. Even the toothbrushes are Crest, not ordinary disposable ones.
Overall, it is a great value and I would recommend it to my friends~

KKatrin SauthoffMy husband and I are a couple from Germany. We booked two nights there, and our decision was absolutely the right one. From the initial contact (via the WeChat app, which is essential for your entire trip to China) to our departure, everything was perfect. We were picked up from the train station by car and taken to the hotel free of charge. This is especially good for Western tourists who don't speak Chinese. The first problem would have been explaining to the taxi where we wanted to go. The lobby and rooms are very beautiful, stylish, and equipped with the highest technology. Most of the guest rooms face the inner courtyard, so you can sleep very quietly and comfortably. The beds are very large and comfortable. The hotel's location is excellent. It's located on the northern edge of the Ancient City of Datong, just a few minutes' walk from the tourist attractions and the colorful and lively old town. So you can enjoy it without being disturbed by noise. I would especially like to emphasize the friendliness of the staff. Unfortunately, we don't speak Chinese, and the staff didn't speak English, but with the help of modern communication tools (language apps), we understood each other perfectly. Every request was fulfilled. There's even the option to use a washing machine in the basement of the hotel. This is especially fantastic for tourists on longer trips to China, as it allows for easy laundry. If you ever come back to China, we will definitely book this hotel again.

MMethilanI spent nearly a week at Datong Milan/Magnolia Hotel (Dai Residence branch) and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay
Location:
- Nestled a quieter part of the ancient city, that provided a peaceful retreat after each day of exploring.
- 10 minutes to some of the attractions of the old town
- 15-20 minute walk to the popular restaurants and more attractions
- 30 minute walk to Huayan Temple and its nearby street markets.
I'm always happy to walk but if needed, I could always use DiDi to take me around.
Falling asleep without street noise is something I like. There is a bit of building work going nearby, which is happening all over Datong Ancient City, but nothing too major.
Nearby is the Ancient City's wall, but walk past that and you can see the locals dance in the morning in the park or walk along the canal/moat in the evening.
Room:
The room was surprisingly spacious, offering plenty of room to spread out and relax, a welcome change from cramped city accommodations. The staircase is a bit narrow, so those with lots of big luggage might struggle (no lift)
Importantly, it was very clean and well equipped. I especially liked the Chinese tea ceremony set!
Service:
- Despite a noticeable language barrier, everyone went above and beyond with smiles, helpful gestures, and clear efforts to communicate.
- Especially the manager, who told me about local food to try, things to do and asked if I needed anything. She noticed that I was bringing back leftovers from the restaurant, and bottled drinks from the shops, and said I could use the fridge.
- I can't speak Chinese so when the delivery driver came to drop off my order, the staff will take it from the reception and bring it to me.
- Unfortunately, breakfast isn't available here
- Drinking water topped up. Humidifier and mosquito repellent were provided when needed.
I will not hesitate to book here again on my next visit and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking comfort and genuine warmth in Datong!

What impressed me most was the ancient wall of the small courtyard. Drinking a cup of tea and reading a book there in the morning was simply a great enjoyment in life. Highly recommended to all friends who pursue quality and comfort.
2When I first arrived at this B&B, I was deeply attracted by its unique design style. The boss and employees are very enthusiastic. The design style is designed by a Japanese designer and incorporates Chinese thangka art. The boss's collection of thangkas are all hand-painted by Regong, and each thangka is considered to be a high-quality product. Standing in front of thangka, I feel that the whole world has become quiet, and my soul seems to have returned. This is not only a place to stay, but also a good place for people to relax and find their spiritual self.
3 I have always believed that the meaning of travel is not only to see the scenery, but more importantly to experience life. In this B&B, I found such an experience. From the decoration design in the room to the layout of each thangka, every detail makes people feel warm and clean. If you are looking for a place to rest your soul, this is definitely your first choice.
This B&B left a deep impression on me. It not only has a beautiful environment, but also feels like home. You can explore the ancient city during the day and enjoy the warmth of home when you return to the B&B at night. In particular, the mattress and pillows were extremely comfortable and ensured a good night's sleep.

MM22192****I went to Datong Ancient Town during the May Day holiday. The room in this inn was clean and had no odor. I liked the small sofa next to the bed. The boss was very considerate in providing disposable towels and bath towels, and there was plenty of hot water. Parking is also convenient, not far from the inn, only a five-minute walk away. The location of the inn is very good. It is right next to the clock tower of the ancient city. It is convenient to go anywhere. There are many small restaurants downstairs, which is also convenient for eating.
The landlady was very enthusiastic and we had a great time chatting. I like your dog the most. I will come to your house next time to play (๑°3°๑)
