AAnonymous UserThis trip was a last-minute decision. I booked the hotel after 1 AM and was pleasantly surprised after landing and checking in. As someone who pays close attention to hotel details, especially since Kunming is always just a layover during my trips to Yunnan, I have to say Papman is truly amazing. First, the service: I received a fresh flower basket upon check-in, and the hotel butler was incredibly attentive, responding promptly to all my requests. They even sent a freshly made cake for our wedding anniversary, which was delicious and high-quality. Second, the room amenities: The vanity had a full box of soft facial tissues, makeup remover wipes, mouthwash, and laundry detergent. There was a Dyson hairdryer, and the shower had a dry/wet separation with push-button controls. Third, the hotel's decor: Every step revealed a beautiful view, and there were multiple tea rooms available for guests to use for free. The rooftop on the third floor offered spectacular photo opportunities. Walking around the hotel at night, I was delighted to see the shadow of a deer cast by the镂空灯 (镂空灯 - 'cut-out' or 'pierced' lamps). Fourth, the food: We received complimentary afternoon tea with tasty desserts, and the late-night snack selection was extensive, including rice noodles, fried potatoes, 'bao jiang' tofu, and grilled skewers. The salted peanuts, especially the Yunnan 'xiaohua' black peanuts, were excellent; I immediately asked if I could buy a can to take home. All in all, I'll definitely choose this place again on my next visit to Kunming!

BBailiguihaiThe hotel's location is excellent, making it incredibly convenient to get around. The concierge delivered our luggage to the room. The room itself was spacious and well-laid out, with every corner impeccably clean. All the staff were incredibly warm and polite, especially Bianca. She contacted me a day in advance to confirm my arrival time and thoughtfully upgraded my room. Whenever I had any questions or requests, Bianca responded and resolved them instantly. Since my flight was in the evening, she also arranged a late check-out for me, which allowed my family and me ample time to rest. I'm truly grateful to her!

I stayed at Hotel Z by Dianchi Lake in Kunming for two nights, and my experience was absolutely perfect. I just have to rave about it!
**Ambiance:** The hotel's location is superb, right by Dianchi Lake with beautiful scenery all around. The interior boasts a designer style, with elegant and tasteful decor. The Hermes orange color scheme combined with ethnic elements makes it incredibly photogenic. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with soft bedding and excellent soundproofing, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep.
**Service:** I really have to commend the service here! They offer 24-hour butler service, always on call. They proactively communicate via WeChat beforehand, and even arrange pick-up/drop-off and help with luggage. Upon check-in, there were welcome tea and snacks, including fresh flower cakes. They also provide free laundry and luggage storage. All my requests were promptly and professionally handled. The young lady at the front desk with glasses was especially attentive and deserves a five-star rating!
Whether for a vacation or a business trip, this place is perfect. Great environment and excellent service – I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kunming.

MMarc1The hotel is beautifully located by a serene, quiet lake, making it an excellent choice for a relaxing stay. It is particularly popular among families with children, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The breakfast is fantastic, especially if you go early in the morning when the food is freshly prepared. However, later in the day, the selection may not be as fresh.
While the staff does not speak English, navigating your stay is still manageable with some basic Chinese and the help of Google Translate—just as it is in many parts of China.
I highly recommend booking a room with a spa on the balcony. These rooms are located on the second floor, offering greater privacy and more outdoor space. The spa feature itself can be a bit tricky to use—you need to ensure the water level is just right, as too much or too little will prevent it from working properly.
Overall, the hotel is very clean, and the staff is accommodating and responsive to any requests. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with excellent amenities, this is a great choice.

JJalieRoom was very clean and spacious. Cars do not stop in front of the hotel entrance and stop only at the main road so there is a short walk to the entrance of the hotel. There is self service bottled mineral water and dry snacks available at a mini bar beside the front desk, which is a plus.
The heater/ aircon in our room was not functioning in the middle of the night and there was no ventilation. The staff kindly sent a fan to the room. Our room was quiet and bed was comfortable.
There was a good variety for breakfast but the fruits runs out fast.
Did not explore nearby but there seems to be a couple of eateries around.

MMaybelindabaoThe breakfast selection was extensive, but it got quite crowded. There's a lovely little garden in the middle of the hotel, which is beautiful. The indoor playground is very small, and there's no outdoor one. The hotel itself is huge, and you can call for a car service, but if it's raining, walking to the front desk can be quite a distance. The lobby is grand and impressive, and there's a peacock enclosure. A chef even saw our kids looking at the peacocks and picked some specially grown leaves for us to feed them – excellent service! The Chinese restaurant had good service and tasty food, but the 'Crossing the Bridge Noodles' felt a bit undercooked after just a quick dip; I ended up with an upset stomach three times that night. Also, there's a Cantonese restaurant inside the hotel that isn't hotel-owned. I wasn't aware of this before, and it feels a bit cluttered, similar to many other outsourced shops within the hotel.

GGuest UserThis hostel is absolutely fantastic! I stayed here 20 years ago, so returning felt incredibly nostalgic and comforting. There were lots of international guests, which is always a good sign. The place is clean and tidy, and they even have self-service laundry facilities. The little restaurant at the hostel is particularly good and offers great value for money.

The front desk staff were incredibly warm and professional, providing meticulous and thoughtful service. Heidi, in particular, offered personalized attention throughout my stay, making me feel exceptionally comfortable. The room was spacious and elegant, with a fantastic French light luxury ambiance. The exclusive down bedding was soft, skin-friendly, and offered superb support, leading to an amazing night's sleep. The high-altitude floor-to-ceiling windows provided breathtaking panoramic views of the city. The hotel as a whole was impeccably clean and well-equipped, with luxury evident in every detail. Both the service and quality were top-notch. This is definitely my first choice for accommodation in Kunming, and I'll be back again!

LlwwbThe 12-person room is spacious and comes with a large locker! You can grab 'Guoqiao Mixian' (Crossing the Bridge Noodles) right outside! There's a bar on the 3rd floor, but it closes around midnight, so no need to worry about noise!
