5-Star Hotels in Kunming

Location is a big plus here — right next to the convention center, a shopping mall with tons of dining and shopping options, and DiDaDi outdoor theme park is literally just outside the hotel. The kids loved it and kept themselves busy the whole time. Rooms were great and the outdoor bathtub was a nice bonus. We had a minor hiccup with the AC going out overnight, but the manager was super responsive and got us moved to a new room without any hassle since the technician wasn’t around over the weekend. Really appreciated that. Free breakfast and supper are both included, and honestly both were really good — plenty of variety and everything tasted great. Oh, and don’t sleep on the hotel’s rooftop photo shoot. The views up there are stunning and it’s a proper must-do during your stay. All in all, a really enjoyable stay. Highly recommend!

Perfect location in a walkable tree-lined neighborhood, where there are lots of upscale restaurants and bars and cafes. The hotel isn’t the newest and could use a touch-up in places but very interesting design, cool artwork in the lobby, huge rooms. A couple machines for laundry and gym on top floor. Service at the reception was super helpful. Breakfast is in a restaurant that is a German beer place during the day and night. Selection is modest but sausages and delicious broth and noodles, the bread could have been more fresh. Would stay here again.

While the hotel room facilities are a bit dated, with old carpets and a slightly cramped bathroom with only one sink, the strong water pressure made for a comfortable shower. The air conditioning was just okay, and the soundproofing was decent. As an older five-star hotel, Wanda Vista truly shines in its service. Front desk manager Mr./Ms. Yang was kind and friendly, helping us arrange an extended stay and providing excellent advice and assistance with our Yunnan travel plans. The front desk is often a guest's first impression, and we're very grateful to Mr./Ms. Yang for starting our stay off so well. The restaurant's breakfast offered a good variety, and the taste was acceptable. The breakfast staff were incredibly sincere and service-oriented in their greetings and assistance. I even noticed one or two pregnant staff members in the breakfast area who were still meticulously and efficiently going about their work. The executive lounge didn't have a huge selection of dishes, but everything was fresh and replenished promptly. The housekeeping staff were also very friendly, and the room was kept clean. The hotel's location is super convenient. Overall, it's definitely worth another stay.

My stay here was excellent. The front desk staff were very friendly and attentive, and check-in was super efficient. They proactively informed me about the hot spring's opening hours and breakfast times, and even offered helpful tips for exploring the area. The hotel is about 4km from Dianchi Lake, and within a 2km radius, there are plenty of dining and shopping options. The hotel's breakfast spread was incredibly rich, featuring a great mix of Chinese and Western dishes. There were pastries, fruits, desserts, and various beverages. The ingredients were fresh and delicious, and the freshly prepared noodle station served authentic, tasty noodles. The hot spring area was clean and elegant, with a comfortable water temperature. My room was tidy and quiet, with all the necessary amenities. I would definitely choose this hotel again for my next vacation.

She proactively helped coordinate a room upgrade, and upon learning about my travel needs, she offered an additional breakfast and executive lounge access. She arranged a smoke-free, high-floor room overlooking Dianchi Lake for a better view, and her meticulous arrangements truly eased my travel fatigue. Heidi's demeanor was gentle and graceful, and she handled matters with patience and professionalism. Every request was addressed thoroughly; her professionalism and sincerity shone through in every small detail. As a Sofitel in Kunming, the hotel perfectly blends French elegance with local Yunnan charm. The lobby features Yunnan-specific floral art and ethnic soft furnishings, creating a unique romantic and luxurious design. The guest rooms offer a comfortable and relaxing stay, with floor-to-ceiling windows directly facing the lake and mountains of Dianchi. The executive lounge boasts excellent views, and the snacks and drinks are exquisite and high-quality. Breakfast combines French pastries with authentic Yunnan rice noodles and flower cakes, offering a wide variety and delicious flavors. Both the hardware and service are truly worth savoring. Walking around the hotel, one can glimpse the brand's unique French romance everywhere, complemented by the spiritual lake views unique to the 'Spring City.' Both the facilities and services exude style and warmth. Whether gazing at the misty Dianchi Lake from the window or enjoying a drink in the executive lounge, you can feel Sofitel's exclusive aesthetic of sophisticated travel. Heidi's meticulous and thoughtful service perfectly balanced the rush of travel, adding a human touch to a luxurious stay. The entire stay was leisurely and pleasant, precisely because of Heidi's attentive and personalized care, which made this stay full of surprises and warmth. When I return to this area in the future, this hotel will still be my first choice, and I once again express my gratitude to the gentle and dedicated Heidi.

This is my third visit this year, and I absolutely love this hotel, even though it's only 30 kilometers from my home. My favorite part is the large balcony, which offers a delightful view of the lake and lush green mountains, with high skies and drifting clouds – it's incredibly peaceful. The evenings are very quiet. The soundproofing in the rooms is excellent, and the breakfast at the restaurant is fantastic.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful Stay at Green Lake Hotel – Excellent Location, Service and Food. We had a wonderful stay at Green Lake Hotel in Kunming. The location is absolutely fantastic, right next to the beautiful Green Lake and within easy walking distance of many of Kunming’s attractions, restaurants, and historic areas. It was especially nice to be able to walk around the lake in the morning and evening. Although the hotel has a long history, it is very well maintained and has a classic, elegant atmosphere. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the entire hotel felt welcoming and well cared for. What impressed us most was the service. The staff were genuinely warm, professional, and attentive. Everyone we interacted with made us feel welcome, and they were always willing to help. This level of hospitality really made our stay memorable. We also had an excellent experience at the hotel restaurant. The dining environment is beautiful and elegant, the service is attentive, and the food was very well prepared. We especially enjoyed experiencing the local Yunnan flavors and ingredients. It was one of the highlights of our stay and a very convenient place to enjoy a relaxing meal after sightseeing. Overall, Green Lake Hotel combines an unbeatable location, traditional elegance, excellent service, and very good dining. It has a character that many newer hotels simply don’t have. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily choose this hotel again the next time we visit Kunming. Highly recommended!

We came all the way from Chengdu for a two-day weekend getaway. The hotel offers complimentary airport shuttle service, which was a lifesaver when my friend suddenly had severe abdominal pain on the plane. The driver kindly took us to the nearest clinic and waited for us. The hotel's concierge, Bocheng, was incredibly nice and accommodating, always ready to help and even proactively helped us plan and remind us about our itinerary for the next day. The hotel is beautifully situated right on Yangzong Lake, offering a fantastic location. Although it's been open for twenty years, it's still well-maintained and has a unique charm.

Facilities: Standard star-rated hotel facilities, very good. The room is spacious and comfortable. Cleanliness: Meets expectations, very thoroughly cleaned. Environment: This needs to be highlighted. The location is incredibly convenient. It's directly connected to the Golden Eagle shopping mall, so you don't even need to leave the hotel. Plus, it's super close to Kunming Old Street, making dining, entertainment, and shopping incredibly convenient. Service: Excellent. They generally meet all requests! Breakfast: We went out for rice noodles, so no comment on the hotel's breakfast.

Facilities: The hotel is very new, and getting it for around 600 during the peak summer holiday season is incredible value for money! It shares a gym, pool, and Chinese restaurant with the Shangri-La next door, which costs 2500. Service: There's a doorman to open doors and help with luggage, truly a five-star setup. I'll definitely prioritize staying here again next time I'm in Kunming.
