RR.TeoLocation is a big plus here — right next to the convention center, a shopping mall with tons of dining and shopping options, and DiDaDi outdoor theme park is literally just outside the hotel. The kids loved it and kept themselves busy the whole time.
Rooms were great and the outdoor bathtub was a nice bonus. We had a minor hiccup with the AC going out overnight, but the manager was super responsive and got us moved to a new room without any hassle since the technician wasn’t around over the weekend. Really appreciated that.
Free breakfast and supper are both included, and honestly both were really good — plenty of variety and everything tasted great.
Oh, and don’t sleep on the hotel’s rooftop photo shoot. The views up there are stunning and it’s a proper must-do during your stay.
All in all, a really enjoyable stay. Highly recommend!

Excellent
GGuest UserThe hotel environment is fantastic, right next to Yulongwan Park. There's a small path leading to the back entrance of the park, and it's lush with greenery, making the air really fresh. The front desk staff (especially the young lady) was super friendly and provided excellent service. The room was spacious, and all the drinks in the minibar were complimentary. It also had a balcony, perfect for soaking up the sun and enjoying a cup of tea – super relaxing!
LLjiangThe rooms have a lovely Southeast Asian style, and the hot springs are great too. It's perfect for a family trip with kids and seniors, and it's close to Kunming Station. There's a buffet inside, so you can spend the whole day there without even needing to go out. The soundproofing is good, and the service is excellent – warm and polite.

DDiana AldereiWe recently stayed at this hotel with my husband and had quite a mixed experience – some parts were truly lovely, while others left us a bit disappointed.
First of all, the villa itself was absolutely beautiful and incredibly spacious. The natural hot spring water was one of the highlights of our stay — such a relaxing and unique experience. The surrounding territory is also well-maintained and very peaceful, perfect for disconnecting and enjoying nature.
However, it’s important to note that the location is quite remote — it took us around an hour to get to places where we could eat or enjoy a cup of coffee. This is understandable considering the mountain setting and access to hot springs.
The afternoon tea was decent, and although lunch wasn’t included in our stay, we tried the local mixian noodles and they were absolutely delicious! Must try! Unfortunately, breakfast was disappointing, especially for guests like us who don’t eat pork or pork oil - there were very few options.
A few maintenance and cleanliness issues also affected our stay. The outdoor pool was not super clean, some insects were swimming there. While we really loved the hot spring bathtub in the villa, the facilities could use a bit more upkeep. The toilet setup was quite basic — a minimum upgrade like a bidet spray or shower toilet would make a big difference, especially for international or Muslim guests.
A more distressing part of our stay was that we found dead insects under the blanket in our bed after returning to our room one evening 🥲 I do appreciate the staff’s polite and kind response – they offered tea and explained it may have fallen from the ceiling – but for someone with a strong phobia of insects, this made it difficult to sleep and really affected my comfort. I do believe this is something that should be taken more seriously, especially in a hotel of this level.
Despite these issues, the staff was very polite, cute and extremely helpful & friendly, and I can see the potential for a truly magical experience here with just a few improvements. I really wanted to love everything — and part of me did — but I was also happy to go back home, just to feel more comfortable and relaxed.
ZZhubagongzimianIf I'm looking to relax by Dianchi Lake again, I'd definitely consider InterContinental. The hotel is very close to Dianchi Lake, and you can walk to Haigeng Dam to watch the sunset, which gives it a real vacation vibe – perfect if you're planning fewer city excursions. The evening ceremony was quite interesting, especially since it was drizzling the night we watched, which added a lovely atmosphere! However, during the ceremony, there were many children running on the wooden bridge, which wasn't ideal for those of us watching from the lobby bar. Perhaps they could consider roping off the area during the ceremony? Also, the drinks at the lobby bar were quite mediocre. Can they really not afford a proper bartender?
Facilities: Generally meets 5-star hotel standards. Although it's an older property, the room facilities are well-maintained. A downside was the pool changing rooms, which were quite basic and not cleaned promptly.
Hygene: Very good, the room was clean and tidy.
Ambiance: The hotel's public areas are relatively small for a resort hotel, but the plant arrangements are lovely, and there are many name tags to identify the trees. However, the numerous shops inside do detract from the brand's premium feel.
Service: The shuttle service was efficient, and the staff were warm and welcoming, making for a comfortable stay.
Another point of criticism is the breakfast restaurant. Both the variety and quality were not up to the InterContinental standard, nor did they match the hotel's resort positioning. After all, a delicious breakfast is what makes you want to return.
Furthermore, at the two noodle stations, the instructions were unclear. One side was a fixed small bowl of rice noodles, while the other was plain noodles where you added your own toppings. There should ideally be a small blackboard listing the options for guests to choose from, but there wasn't. The staff also didn't proactively explain the options; I had to ask detailed questions to understand. This led to a poor experience, especially since the noodles weren't particularly tasty. I hope the hotel can improve this in the future.

0007EasonFive out of five stars, highly recommended! I stayed at this upscale city hotel in Kunming and was impressed by the attentive service from the front desk staff throughout my stay – it truly exceeded my expectations.
The hotel boasts an excellent location, right next to a bustling commercial area, making it very convenient for getting around. The lobby design is grand and impressive. On the day we checked in, the lobby was quite busy. While the bellhops were occupied assisting other guests and handling luggage, the front office manager immediately stepped in, enthusiastically took our bags, and personally escorted us to our room. Along the way, he patiently introduced the hotel's amenities, breakfast times, and local attractions. I later learned he had only recently joined the hotel, but his professionalism was evident, and his explanations were perfectly tailored and insightful.
Traveling with a child can be challenging. After my child's bath in the evening, it was inconvenient to go downstairs to send a package. After contacting the front desk, they arranged for someone to pick up our takeout. We didn't have to go back and forth at all, which genuinely solved a common hassle when traveling with kids. These small details really show their thoughtfulness.
MMunanxiziA wonderful hideaway for a hot spring getaway. The private courtyard comes with its own hot tub, or you can switch things up and use the public pools. In the evenings, you can catch a stunning sunset, and the Ancient Dian Kingdom Museum is right across the way. The villa's amenities are top-notch, and it's very clean, even including a private sauna. There weren't any bugs this season, which made it a super comfortable and relaxing spot for a few friends to unwind. The breakfast and dinner at the mountaintop restaurant are both excellent, and they do Western dishes really well too!
GGuest UserThe hotel's decor isn't modern; it has a traditional American style. The bathroom mirror and wall sconces reminded me of a home I once lived in, which had a similar design, so it felt very nostalgic. Although the room's facilities show their age, you can tell they've been meticulously cared for and well-maintained by the hotel staff.
The cleanliness is spot-on, and the hotel service is very attentive, friendly, and polite. I recommend the connecting rooms for families; they offer plenty of space while still providing a good degree of privacy.
The location is excellent. Just a short walk from the hotel, you can find authentic 'xiaoguo mixian' (small-pot rice noodles) and local barbecue. You can easily reach many wild mushroom hotpot restaurants by scooter. It was really enjoyable taking the kids around to experience the cityscape of Kunming.

GGuest UserFacilities: This is a Shangri-La Group express hotel, boasting a stylish and modern design. It shares the same building with the main Shangri-La hotel, so guests have access to their gym and swimming pool. The brand-new amenities make for a very comfortable stay.
Location: It's conveniently located near the Parc 66 shopping mall area, and the Tuodong Sports Center Metro Station (Line 3) is right outside, making travel easy.
Service: The hotel's Kaitang Cafe offers an excellent breakfast with a wide variety of high-quality dishes, including local specialties and outstanding bakery items. The restaurant staff are very friendly and helpful. The fitness center also provides fantastic service; they even offer complimentary coffee after your workout.
I'd also like to thank the front desk staff, ISABEL, LOUIS, and HALINA, for their excellent service during my stay.

GGuest UserTraveling to Yunnan with my bestie and our two kids, I specifically chose the Golden Eagle Plaza Hotel near Kunming's Old Street because one of the kids gets carsick, and we could walk to all the attractions. I didn't have super high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival. The entire hotel was quiet and comfortable, and the room was incredibly spacious – enough for both kids to play freely. There are plenty of dining and entertainment options nearby; we even tried tie-dyeing at the Aocheng Building and bought a bunch of little souvenirs at the Jingxing Flower, Bird, and Jewelry Market. The best part is that everything was within walking distance, saving the kids from car sickness! The front desk service was also excellent. Highly recommend!
