"The best aspect of this stay was by far the owner. He was incredibly, incredibly helpful and friendly — from the moment I walked in the door he offered me a cup of tea, then provided tea and bread the next morning for breakfast, offered advice on what to see in the area, arranged a car to take me to Dalzong Lake, and finally even found me a spot on a local minibus going to my next destination. I couldn’t have done half the things I did during my stay in Xiahe without his advice and efforts on my behalf, so that alone made staying here fully worthwhile!
It’s worth mentioning that the guesthouse’s architecture is also absolutely beautiful, and everything looks quite new. It’s located down a quiet side alley off of one of the main commercial streets in town, which seems like the ideal placement.
On the accommodations: I stayed in one of the two tents erected on the second floor of the guesthouse. This was largely quite a good experience! The bed was very comfortable (with a heated pad), water and towels provided, etc. The tents are not in a closed-off area, but rather on the second floor/balcony area that also is used for sitting, serving tea, etc., so privacy is somewhat limited, but the whole guesthouse is relatively quiet anyway so it doesn’t feel like a public space. My only suggestions for improvement would be related to the bathroom: during my stay, the shared bathroom for the tents was a sort of temporary-style booth installed in the corner of the room with a toilet, sink, and showerhead. The bathroom was very clean and everything inside worked well, but its sliding door separated from the wall enough that there was always a substantial enough space on one side or the other that could be seen through (the door also didn’t lock and slid back and forth easily). The booth was also small enough that, realistically, I think it would be a bit of a challenge to actually use it to shower. If possible it might be worth looking into some simple fixes to improve these situations, but otherwise I have no complaints!"
"We arrived quite late, and the owner was still waiting for us at the village entrance. The room was clean and tidy, and the elderly and children all liked it very much. The owner had ******* clothing available for rent for makeup and styling. The owner was very hospitable, and the experience was very good. The cat was also very friendly. It was at the door when we arrived, and it followed us into the room and stayed there. When we washed up, it followed us to the bathroom. The children especially loved it. Before leaving, they specifically asked the owner if he would sell the cat, but he said he didn't sell stray cats, which was a pity. When the children got home, they said they missed the cat."
"This is a very nice guesthouse. The decor is Tibetan-style, the owner is super nice, and parking is convenient. The lobby on the first floor is perfect for afternoon tea. The rooms are also very comfortable. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in need."

GGuest User💯 Highly recommended! Shout it out loud!!! If you're hesitating after seeing the reviews, don't hesitate, you absolutely must choose this place! It's a family-run Tibetan-style guesthouse—high-class, Zen-like, clean, and hygienic! The bath towels were soft and fluffy, the mattress and pillows were very comfortable, and the bedding was of high quality, making for a very comfortable sleep. The white areas on the duvet cover and pillows had subtle patterns, a subtle yet detailed touch. The entire environment was thoughtfully designed and had a great feel, perhaps related to the fact that one of the family members is a monk. 👍🏻 There were even ******* script books by the bedside for guests to read, which was wonderful. Breakfast and dinner portions were generous. The food just placed on the table wasn't all served yet, so don't worry! Dinner includes delicious yak yogurt with white or brown sugar, and breakfast includes barley flour, milk, butter tea, tsampa, eggs, cherry tomatoes, and flatbread – all very tasty. The shop also offers ******* clothing experiences, and you can make ******* incense and experience making tsampa. The owners are a young, energetic family of brothers and sisters who have already opened three shops – very capable! Wishing them continued success. Highly recommended!
HhelloyeppTibetan-style homestay, the picture is taken with the original camera without filter. I like this style very much. It was designed by someone with a certain aesthetic taste.
The service at the B&B was very enthusiastic. We arrived very late due to traffic jam on May Day. The girl from the B&B came out to pick us up. The yak beef hotpot was already prepared on the table, and she waited for us to finish eating. We were also given a free upgrade to a suite.
The ******* breakfast the next morning was very unique. There was also a cat cafe in the B&B. The barley coffee was both beautiful and delicious. The cats were also very cute, with two very adorable kittens. The baby likes playing with the cat all the time. Thank you for tolerating this naughty child.
Before leaving, she gave us handmade sachets and specifically told us to take good care of the children.
Will definitely recommend to friends.
GGuest UserThe guesthouse is super close to Labrang Monastery, within walking distance. The room was clean and tidy, the bed was soft, and the lighting was great, making for a very comfortable stay. The owners were very thoughtful; they even provided oxygen cylinders, so there was absolutely no need to worry about altitude sickness. Overall, a fantastic experience, and I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in Xiahe! 👏👏
GGuest UserOur stay here was lovely, with kind staff. We are Australian and our check-in was easy. However, please note that the name of the hotel name is “Samphel Dhondup Hotel”, and it is located near the southern corner of 腾志路, Tengzhi Road, near the Monastery Ticket Centre and the river. This was confusing upon arrival.
The heated floors were extremely hot, and not able to be turned off. Our room was a sauna, despite being -4°c outside (we had our window open the whole time). Hopefully this can be fixed. Breakfast was small but we were here during the offseason.
AAi-yo-wei®The hotel is a series of independent wooden houses with normal water supply and drainage, 24-hour hot water, heater, bathroom heater, air conditioning and digital TV in the king-size bed room. The bedding is dry and clean, and there is no peculiar smell in the room and bathroom, and there are no mosquitoes.
The boss is honest and the service is good.
GGuest UserI brought my family here for a camping trip in the grasslands, and I was initially worried about the primitive conditions, but it far exceeded my expectations. The surrounding grasslands offer expansive views, fresh air, and a tranquil, quiet environment. The cleanliness was also impeccable; even the corners were spotless. The facilities are comprehensive, with a resting deck and viewing equipment, and there's an open space for kids to play. Both adults and children had a wonderful time here. The staff were exceptionally thoughtful; knowing we had elderly family members, they proactively reminded us about high-altitude precautions and even brought us hot water. Their service was meticulous. They only provide breakfast and dinner, which made both dining and staying very convenient.
GGuest UserThis is a very unique and beautiful Tibetan-style guesthouse. The rooms were very clean, and there was plenty of hot water for showering. Breakfast is provided; it's simple but delicious. There's a famous restaurant nearby specializing in ******* cuisine, which we tried and highly recommend!
GGuest UserNirvana resorts location is so stunning, set in the beautiful grasslands and surrounded by mountains, it was truly stunning. The tent was huge and bed comfy - some things are basic such as toilet and shower offsite but you know this going in. It was great to meet and talk to Wandhikhar, and all his staff who were lovely and helpful.
PPaopaoyucclThe hotel is located right opposite Labrang Monastery. It's clean and tidy, and there are plenty of dining options nearby. In the evening, you can explore the surrounding area, and in the morning, after breakfast at the hotel, you can walk straight to the scenic spot.
NNikoas4The hotel is extremely close to the monastery. Some people at the reception speak english and they can book you a private tour to visit the grasslands and the monasteries outside the city that otherwise would be unreacheables for 400rmb per vehicle. The room is big and the beds are warm.
