QQiyiguo1125The guesthouse boasts a very artistic decor, which makes perfect sense as the owners are both university art teachers. The hosts are incredibly welcoming; they offered homemade yak yogurt as a welcome treat and even gave us small soaps as a parting gift. If you're driving, it's best to contact the owners in advance, as the guesthouse is nestled quite deep within a small mountain village. You can't drive directly to it; cars need to be parked on the road opposite the village, and a staff member from the guesthouse will come to pick you up on an electric tricycle. The rooms are clean and tidy, and you can even ask the hostess to light a ******* incense stick for you. In the evening, guests from different places gathered in the courtyard to chat, and it felt just like a group of old friends catching up. Breakfast consisted of a few simple, home-style dishes, but the auntie's cooking was absolutely delicious. The pumpkin and white rice porridge, in particular, was incredibly smooth and creamy – I had several bowls!
GGuest UserOur stay here was lovely, with kind staff. We are Australian and our check-in was easy. However, please note that the name of the hotel name is “Samphel Dhondup Hotel”, and it is located near the southern corner of 腾志路, Tengzhi Road, near the Monastery Ticket Centre and the river. This was confusing upon arrival.
The heated floors were extremely hot, and not able to be turned off. Our room was a sauna, despite being -4°c outside (we had our window open the whole time). Hopefully this can be fixed. Breakfast was small but we were here during the offseason.
GGuest UserThe B&B makes people who are away from home feel like they are back home, with delicious dishes and a warm and homely environment. You can see the misty mountains and the strange rain in the surrounding area. You can also drink tea and rest in the lobby. It is not far from the scenic area and there is a parking lot at the door. It is worth it for those who go out!
GGuest UserFacilities: There is only one public restroom, which is very inconvenient. It is not convenient to take a shower or use the toilet. Needs to be improved.
Hygiene: Because it is a newly opened B&B, there are only the proprietress and her husband, so they are probably too busy, and the beds are not changed in time.
Environment: The B&B has just been renovated. The decoration is very ethnic and the environment is very good.
Service: The lady boss is very nice. Because I brought Chinese medicine for my children that needed to be refrigerated, she enthusiastically helped me find a refrigerator to store it. She also helped us add a mattress to the room for two. The service was very enthusiastic.
Generally speaking, the boss is very nice and the service is very enthusiastic, but the hardware facilities need to be improved. One bathroom is really inconvenient, and the hygiene needs to be improved. Then there is the need to apply for tax invoices, as some guests need invoices.
YyannypooCute little accommodation which feels very homely ! Great communal area with used books and cute eatery. Staff super friendly and helpful. Cleanliness of standard and close to monastery.
GGuest UserVery convenient location. Just walking distance to Labrang monestry. Really nice place and nice view from the hotel. Breakfast is nice and front desk attitude is friendly. Highly recommend. If you like to try some ******* style hotel, this will be the best option. Thanks
GGuest UserThe dorm was very clean and equipped with a kettle, which was nice. I was the only guest during my stay. As mentioned in the other reviews, the dorm is located in the basement and you have to walk a bit to reach the toilet.
The „shower“ is located across the front desk. It’s a small room where the hotel is storing their cleaning equipment, so showering there is a quite dirty and unpleasant experience. As there are so many dorms in the basement (I would guess 50+ beds), I wonder how they would handle the situation if the hotel is fully booked.
Overall I would recommend staying there for one night, if you are not picky.
GGuest UserThe place was easy to find. The room was very big. I loved the big windows. Looking up, I could see green all around. The owner and his family were very simple and friendly. I learned a lot about local customs and culture during the conversation. I will stay here again next time I come.
GGuest UserThe hotel is in a great location, facing the gate of the scenic area. The room decoration is quite unique. The lady at the front desk will also help with luggage. The room does not include breakfast, but the boss later gave it to me. It is generous. It is recommended to provide disposable sheets instead of blankets.
EElsemieke de BoerI really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend staying here. The hotel is right next to the entrance of the monastery and most rooms have a nice view of the lively main street and the mountains behind. The rooms also have built-in heating so the room is not cold during the colder months. The bed is very comfortable. Staff doesn’t always speak English but they are very friendly. The hotel is a little bit outdated, but I think it is one of the best places to stay in Xiahe because of the location and it offers everything you need.
