With its fabulous location across from the drawbridge of the fortified town the establishment has a fondness for contrasts. This pastoral yet urban hotel in Carcassonne offers pleasing aspects of the perfect harmony between the medieval and the contemporary. The rooms and suites boast vaulted ceilings and exposed stone. The silky fabrics the rich colours the wood and leather imbue each of them with a warm character. The only thing you will appreciate is the Carcassone’s medieval walls view. The rest better forgive it. An old structure left to itself, with several areas without any maintenance (like rooms) and cleaning (like swimming pool). To say nothing of the breakfast (bread of the day before, rubber croissant). And do you call all of this hospitality?

Beautiful property, very nice staff, good location next to old town. Breakfast was good. BUT our room, which was next to the pool was nice BUT very dark, indeed so dark that we could hardly see anything (there were lights in the floor which blinded you).

This hotel is supposedly a 4-Star but in no way meets that category. At check in time room was not ready, staff was very un-accomodating and no attention paid to help with getting room ready. Upon getting to room, numerous items didn't function, batteries dead in remotes, lightbulbs out and not thoroughly cleaned. A definite mold and mildew issue with no ventilation in room except with leaving door open. Staff had a very poor attitude towards all issues presented. The hotel charges for all extras; parking, spa and a minimal breakfast with day-old bread. Beds and linens are very good as is the location.

We’ve just had two nights at this Hotel and it was beautiful!! Absolutely stunning location right outside of the Cité which offered a more peaceful retreat from the busier areas and some beautiful views, especially if enjoying a drink on the terrace on the evening. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, speaking English when our French was limited. We chose to have breakfast one morning which was quite pricey but was tasty and used all local ingredients which was lovely to see. Table service aspect was nice for the cost - no buffets. I had reserved spa access for us ahead of our stay after reading up on the hotel while booking. They could accommodate us without problem and we enjoyed the package as a couple. Although priced in line with other spas it was a shame not to get a bit longer than 30 minutes in the pool area but we enjoyed it none the less. The treatments were lovely. Our room (room 17) was by the pool/jacuzzi which we enjoyed and was beautiful and private. Really comfy bed and bedding, air conditioning and coffee machine. The toiletries provided were great and we had an overall fantastic stay. We would definitely choose to return for location and amenities.

We stayed in room 12. It's above the reception. There is an outside seating area just in front of the room. It's February, It's raining, no-one is going to be outside, yet loud and obtrusive music pumped through outside speakers until close to midnight. The receptionist said she couldn't stop it or turn it down on the express instruction of the patron. Very irritating. And compounded by aggressive lighting and gossamer thin curtains ( apparently a triumph of design over practicality) . I have emailed the owner but have not been favored with a reply

We stayed at the Hôtel du Château in Carcassonne for 2 nights. The hotel is located just beside the Cité Médièvale and seems to be very cosy but as soon as you enter the atmosphere changes. Staff is cold and reserved. The Junior suite is very small and only superficially clean, when you have a closer look there are a few problem sites. You are charged for nearly everything: parking, dog, breakfast and also the spa access - 15€/person. Breakfast is wide below average. It is served but nobody asks you what you prefer, they just put everything on the table: shriveled apples, kiwis and loads of white bread and somewhat fatigued croissants. I asked for water, which they charged of course! Spa is small with a bad smelling hammam and a small pool with a broken underwater-bike and a weak counter-current. So, best to avoid this hotel.

A charming place literally at the foot of the main entrance to the fabulous Chateau of Carcassonne. We stayed in the 3-star annex and spa across the drive, with full access to the main hotel's bar/restaurant, breakfast, patio -lawn terrace, pool ( closed for season). Private parking in a closed area. Our spacious room had a very comfortable queen bed, desk, extra twin or couch bed, and an outside private terrace. The very tight bathroom configuration made it impossible for one of us to get into the bath/ shower ( no grab bars, no anti-slip mat, the shower deep into the least accessible end of the tub). Walking up to the main patio from the back ground level, there were no hand rails on several steps that were already slippery in the rain. Elegant breakfast with the luxurious touch of a made to order/timed soft boiled egg. Competent staff adhere to strict rules, for example, when we asked for very loud "club" playlist music to be turned down when we were the only two people in the bar at 7 pm, staff informed us that management insisted they never do so, even if requested by guests. There must be a story behind that! Definitely a St. Tropez cool-vibe aspirational feeling. But shouldn't the guest come first? All in all, a comfortable and pleasant place to stay, walking distance up to the restaurants and shops of the spectacular old walled city.

Located literally within a few metres of the main entrance to the mediaeval walled city of Carcassonne, this lovely hotel is set in a traditional-style house. The rooms are dotted about the property - some in the main house, some in outbuildings, but all with their own character. The continental breakfast provided is huge, using local produce where possible. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel does not have a restaurant as such, but they provide petite plats all day. These are served in jars of various sizes, sourced from a reputable local provider. The wine list is extensive, concentrating on serving wines by the glass at the perfect temperature, and with perfect airing. The swimming pool and jacuzzi are a bonus, and there is a full spa in the basement (though we didn’t use it). Use of the hotel car park costs extra, thought there are charging points for electric vehicles which cost nothing extra.
