A charming place literally at the foot of the main entrance to the fabulous Chateau of Carcassonne. We stayed in the 3-star annex and spa across the drive, with full access to the main hotel's bar/restaurant, breakfast, patio -lawn terrace, pool ( closed for season). Private parking in a closed area. Our spacious room had a very comfortable queen bed, desk, extra twin or couch bed, and an outside private terrace. The very tight bathroom configuration made it impossible for one of us to get into the bath/ shower ( no grab bars, no anti-slip mat, the shower deep into the least accessible end of the tub). Walking up to the main patio from the back ground level, there were no hand rails on several steps that were already slippery in the rain. Elegant breakfast with the luxurious touch of a made to order/timed soft boiled egg. Competent staff adhere to strict rules, for example, when we asked for very loud "club" playlist music to be turned down when we were the only two people in the bar at 7 pm, staff informed us that management insisted they never do so, even if requested by guests. There must be a story behind that! Definitely a St. Tropez cool-vibe aspirational feeling. But shouldn't the guest come first? All in all, a comfortable and pleasant place to stay, walking distance up to the restaurants and shops of the spectacular old walled city.
