Hotel am Markt

Excellent! My wife and I checked into the "Hotel am Markt" on April 23rd/24th, 2022 for a short trip with friends. Check-in was absolutely smooth and quick, the staff at the reception on the 4th floor were very nice and accommodating. Our room (208) was very nice with a direct view of the Karlsruhe market square (pyramid). Thanks to the high-quality curtains, the windows could be completely darkened, which prevented us from waking up early in the daylight. The bathroom was also sparkling clean! So no signs of mold or other discoloration, which are often found in hotels there. Since the hotel is in a pedestrian zone, you can park in the "Schloßplatz" parking garage, which is a three-minute walk away, for a reasonable 8 euros per day. The hotel also impresses with its central location, so that everything you need in Karlsruhe can be reached on foot within a short time. If someone misses the breakfast offered by the hotel, there is a bakery right next to the entrance. New for us was a self-check-in machine at the entrance, which we did not need due to our online booking. ********************************************* Edit: We made good on our threat on June 18th, 2022 and stayed at the Hotel am Markt again. Here, too, checking in was absolutely problem-free and the receptionist was very friendly and accommodating. This time our room was 204, which faced Karl-Friedrich-Straße. Once again, the room was in perfect and clean condition. Due to the summer temperatures, a column fan was also provided in the room, which we saw as a nice service. All in all, our impression of the Hotel am Markt was confirmed again. ********************************************* Repeat offender: We stayed at the Hotel am Park again on February 24th/25th, 2024. Booked in advance online, this time we checked in and paid using the machine at the entrance. Based on our experience from last time, we deliberately chose a room facing the "inner courtyard" for a small surcharge. Our room (this time 211) had a large and bright bathroom.

The staff is very helpful and welcoming. The room overlooked the main square, beautiful view. Clean, large and quiet. Breakfast on the fourth floor in a light-filled room was very varied and excellent! Sehr gut!!!! I advise!

Enviable location. Overlooking the main square, 100 meters from the castle square which you seem to touch while having breakfast on the terrace. Metro in the square. Before enjoying the splendid view (not from all the rooms) you will have had to rack your brains to enter the hotel because there is no reception. You will have to check in with a machine located on the sidewalk, absolutely remembering the code that will be sent to you and to which you will not have given weight, very complicated and absolutely not provided in Italian. When (and if) you manage to enter with the magnetic card that will provide you with the infernal machine, you will reach your room via a narrow elevator with absolutely no air conditioning (continental climate: 33 degrees when I was there). The cleanliness leaves something to be desired, a couple of hairs in the sheets... The only staff person we saw was a lady who prepares breakfast, who was embarrassingly rude, who only speaks German and who, when she saw us arrive, breakfast greeted us with "breakfast is not included and you have to pay for it!" (My son luckily understands some German). She obviously made us pay for breakfast, as there were no other employees. As there is no reception or staff, if you have a problem in the afternoon or evening: good luck! There is a telephone number to call but no one answered us... Continue searching on the internet, you will find better!

I already knew the hotel from previous trips to Karlsruhe. My experiences were OK. This time, however, there was a problem that I arrived in the evening and was unable to get into the hotel despite having made a reservation. The online entry system didn't work. I then called the hotel with another traveler. Without a cell phone, we would have been standing outside the door. We were able to get in within about 15 minutes. The staff were friendly and apologetic. Unfortunately, we didn't see any gestures beyond that. The breakfast on the roof terrace is OK, but nothing special. The hotel is a bit shabby inside.

My son and I always go on city trips. The last time we went to Karlsruhe. Of course we were looking for a hotel. We found one at the Hotel am Markt. The hotel is very centrally located. You no longer need the car. You can explore a lot on foot. The rooms are very tastefully decorated, you feel comfortable and at home. I had a view of the market square. Great view. I was told that you could hear what was going on at the market square. I slept soundly and didn't hear anything. The room is also very clean, as is the bathroom. Towels, soap, shower gel, shampoo... everything is there. They also care about the environment here... there are toothbrush cups made of cellulose. Very good... A great room... 👍🏻 The breakfast is very extensive and absolutely delicious. The staff are really helpful and courteous. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back.
