Hotels near Tanote Bay, Koh Tao

I had an excellent stay at Woodlawn Lawn Villas, it was just as advertised and more. Friendly and helpful staff. The resort is in a good location within a short walk to local shops and beach, or scooter ride to the pier and alternative beaches. Koh Tao is only a small island so anywhere is only a short scooter ride away. Wood Lawn Villas rent scooter for 200 bhat which is very reasonable. I would highly recommend 😎

In a very pleasant and quite busy location by the beach. Lots of ”life”, restaurants and activities offered in the immediate proximity of the resort. Our room was big and very comfortable with a pleasant terrace to enjoy the sunset. Great selection of dishes for breakfast... Overall an excellent choice for our first two nights in Koh Tao.

Our room was in the jungle house, which was a little.further than I anticipated when booking, but actually turned out to be amazing. Quiet, beautiful location. Spacious room with a wonderful view. Friendly and helpful staff. Close enough to walk to the action around Sairee Beach. They also.provided a shuttle buggy to/from the beach. Would definitely stay again.

We originally booked a fan room above the dive shop. When we arrived and realized how hot that was going to be, we asked to be moved to the beach side bungalows with air conditioners. It was well worth the extra price per night. The difference in the bed comfort, the pillows, and the spaciousness of the room and bathroom was pretty dramatic. We had a king bed (two full beds pushed together) and it wasn't as uncomfortable as it sounds. We slept very well each night. The thick curtains completely blocked out most of the light and the air conditioner worked perfectly. We had a fridge and safe in the room and the resort provided 2 bottles of water every day when they cleaned the room. We had a view of the pool and beach. The morning dives leave from the beach right there at the resort making it very convenient to have multiple dives per day. The pricing was reasonable and similar to other resorts in the area, but this place had more of a feeling of camaraderie. We really enjoyed hanging out with the other divers and the employees. The resort is close enough to town to be within walking distance so we went out most every day for shopping/massages/lunch. The restaurant attached to the resort has an extensive menu that is well priced with inexpensive drink specials during happy hour. The pool table is free to use (not the case with other bars in town.) Have Coco make you a margarita and play a game of pool with you (ask him what his favorite shot is.) When it was time for us to leave, the receptionist sat down with us to give us travel tips and places to see for the rest of our time in Thailand. She was very friendly and helpful. We feel like we hit the jackpot with this resort. It had everything we needed, a dive center where I could complete my OW and AOW certifications, restaurant, bar, beach and pool. We will absolutely put this on our list of places to stay in the future when we travel to Thailand again.

The Paradise Koh Tao Resort I was saying to my daughter how, for me, a 5 star hotel is not just about the quality of the room or building or the food or even the staff. It’s about the overall experience. Value for money, comfort, fun. We were met at the pier with our cases carried for us to a songthaews. We were met at the grand hotel by Koko who explained that there was a power cut. No electricity but he was smiling and so sincere it was not a problem for us. We were walked to our room by Koko and a colleague. They carried our cases. The room was just being finished with cleaning and we went into the massive room with a double and single bed. No AC because of power cut. It was funny with Koko explaining to us how it worked without being able to show us. My daughter and I then went to the pool which was absolutely amazing. We had the whole pool to ourselves for the afternoon. An elderly Thai couple came and we took some pictures for them. Then a German (or South African) couple. The pool and area was big enough that we weren’t in each others way. Able to relax, peace and have fun. We then ordered some ice cream and when the electricity came on we then ordered lunch; an omelette, a coconut chicken soup and red curry. It was absolutely delicious! (About 600BAHT). My daughter then showered and I had a bath on the balcony! Yes, a bath on the balcony, Bubbles bowing down the street. it was amazing! We then went down to the lobby and were driven free of charge into Koh Tao. We had a wonderful time in Koh Tao which is really alive again since covid. We then paid 500B for a cab back. We slept in the beautiful air conditioned room. The following morning we had breakfast (250B each) and were served again by Su (who was always helpful and smiling). There were other staff members (Myanmar) we didn’t get their names but thank you to them as well. Everyone was smiling, friendly, trying their best and running around for us. We then went on a snorkelling tour and when we came back went to our room which had been spotlessly cleaned with fresh towels etc. We then showered and went for dinner inside the restaurant because it was raining outside. For dinner we had Ka Pow (prawns/basil). Red Curry. Sweet and Sour Pork, coconut chicken soup (again). 4 drinks. It cost 870 Baht. The food at this place was probably the best of our entire trip. Unbelievably tasty I wanted to thank the chef. We then went and played a game of pool in the bar and then went back to the room and fell instantly asleep. The following morning a songthaews had been arranged for 8am to take us to the pier. The end! So, the night before we are at Suranthiya Koh Phangan and they are very similar. Only Suranthiya is about £350 per night and this place was about £40. I think in the 1990’s/2000’s this was Koh Tao’s Suranthiya. We loved this place, the hotel is not far from the pier, we actually walked with children and managed it even in the heat, literally about 5-10 minutes, just turn right out of the pier and walk straight to the end of the road, its tucked away right at the end, fabulous spot. The room we had was amazing, big comfy bed for us, bunk bed for the kids, raised seated area, huge balcony and great bathroom, fridge, tv with cable channels, water, tea coffee provided, hairdryer, towels and room kept clean daily. The pool was a great size, you get towels from reception. The staff are all lovely and on hand to help with anything you need, we had breakfast included which was really good, continental selection, food to order (you can choose 2 items off a menu) and good tea/coffee machine and they have proper big mugs! we ate at the restaurant for lunch and once for dinner too and both times the food was lovely and really good value for money. If we ever return to Koh Tao this is definitely where we will stay again, highly recommend.

A couple’s wife’s shop, great experience, super cost-effective, the hotel is located in Shark Bay, the sea view is first-rate, you can go snorkeling directly, I heard from the boss that sharks will come here every sunrise and sunset, so it’s called Shark Bay. The room is a very down-to-earth single-family chalet, very quiet and private. The boss and the wife are very nice. After consulting a lot of questions, they solved them one by one. They picked us up to the dock for free, provided snorkeling equipment, and helped us arrange a great trip. , I personally took my family around the island, and received very caring care during my stay. I like the simplicity of Koh Tao more than the noise of Samui. If you have the opportunity to come to Koh Tao, you must stay here again. I strongly recommend it!

Wonderful resort where we stayed in the family beach bungalow. Very nice accommodation. Everything was very clean and staff very friendly. Especially Tida who helped us 2 times in the restaurant was very helpful.

The location is nice and quiet, walking distance to other restaurants through the beach. The beach is very nice, clean and good for kids especially when the tide is low. Our Cabana was spacious, beautiful, although a bit dark. The water pressure was low and we didn’t have hot water. We asked them to fix it but it didn’t happen on time before our check-out. We stayed for two nights. The pool has a waterfall, and it looks a little run down. Nice view to the sea from the pool, though. The breakfast (included) was ok. Fruits, bread, but not many options for vegetarian/vegans in the menu. Dinners were good. Overall, a beautiful hotel, kind staff, great location, maintenance response could be better.

I absolutely cannot recommend the hotel. The hotel was probably closed for 4 years and reopened in December 2023. It is in very bad condition. The rooms are outdated, the facility is dirty and still under construction. Building materials are flying everywhere. We didn't have a cow at first. We booked the chalet/bungalow. We had to leave the chalet we had booked immediately upon arrival because the smell was very strong. The lady at the hotel said that the paint had been freshly painted the day before. Here I ask myself why this is even offered to guests. After waiting for over an hour we got a room in a low category, we were once again negatively surprised. The air conditioning didn't cool down properly, there was no refrigerator in the room, no safe, no hairdryer, no shower enclosure in the bathroom. The equipment is very old. The TV does not work. There are no cupboards in the room to store clothes. The single bed is right next to the double bed & not separate with a partition in the room as booked in the chalet. The hotel complex is also horrible. Everything is still under renovation. Unfortunately, this was not noted anywhere by booking. There are several construction workers walking around. There is building material everywhere. The facility itself is very littered. Just like the pool. The pool bar & restaurant empty. There are no pool towels. Just like the pool. The room wasn't even cleaned. No fresh towels. After my complaint, a lady came who wanted to clean our room. Unfortunately that was too late as we had to leave again. The staff at the hotel are very nice, but they cannot help us with the above-mentioned deficiencies. This hotel corresponds to a maximum of a 1-2 star hotel & not a 4 star hotel as described in booking. The renovation would have to be completed before this could be offered to guests.
