Hotels near Mt.Tengu in Otaru

"The hotel is clean but a bit small.  The location is good. Within walking distance, you can reach many restaurants and the JR station. We stay two days and they didn’t even empty the trash box for us unless we asked.  And you need to ask for new towels yourself the other days."

"It was a cute boutique hotel with nice bonus facilities! Room is nicely designed and functional, with warm colors feel homey and comfy. Too bad we didn’t get the bath tub room as they were fully booked. Views from the window is mountaneous area, very nice! Bed and pillows are comfortable. Surface area for stuff are generous and practical, even enough space for sofa. Too bad they don’t give free coffee or at least instant coffee, only tea. No onsen. Music box night was awesome! Feels like a romantic dinner setting, but the smell of lamp oil was too much, gave me headache so I couldn’t stay for long, even though I would love to support the hotels and all of the polite and friendly staff by dining there. Staff are wonderful, smiles and polite and professional! During this trip we felt like Japanese staff in general are becoming a bit cold toward tourists but this hotel’s staff are not like that! We appreciate you guys. Thank you!"

"This is a comfortable boutique hotel in Otaru. The room is cozy with the barrel the most interesting feature that doubles up as a table and a fridge. The buckwheat pillow is comfortable for a good night rest. What impressed me the most is the breakfast. There is a wide array of food including seafood and fresh milk. Onsen is comfortable too. Overall I will strongly recommend this hotel in Otaru as it’s still new and tip top service and amenities."

"Facilities: It's a very old hotel, but fairly well-maintained. Hygiene: Generally average. Environment: Excellent location, right across from the canal. It's an easy downhill walk from the train station if you have luggage. The reverse is quite strenuous. A taxi ride is just the minimum fare (700). Service: The breakfast is plentiful and seafood-friendly."

"Facilities: The hotel is quite old, and while the facilities are in good condition, they aren't exactly modern. Surprisingly, there's a vintage audio system that plays music with a great ambiance from a bygone era. The sound quality also has that classic feel, which I loved. It's definitely worth experiencing this unique charm that other hotels don't offer. Service: Standard hotel service, but they upgraded my room without me even asking, which was a nice touch! Transportation: Even though the hotel is on a mountaintop, they offer a shuttle service to the nearest JR station, which is a huge plus. The Otaru Aquarium is just a few steps away, and the dolphin show is fantastic, plus the penguins are adorable. Scenery: This hotel probably boasts the most unique coastal cliff views in Otaru. It's truly postcard-worthy, and the best part is being able to enjoy it while soaking in the hot spring during the day. The scenery is beautiful and enjoyable. At night, however, you can't see anything. Hygiene: Standard hotel cleanliness. Food: I only stayed overnight and didn't try the food."

"Loved our stay in the Maisonnette Double Room! The loft design was a fun touch and gave us plenty of space to relax. The hotel feels very new, clean, and stylish. It’s centrally located, making it super easy to walk to the Otaru Canal and nearby eateries. Don't miss the rooftop public bath and sauna—the outdoor bath has an incredible view! Highly recommend for anyone visiting Otaru."

"1. Hotel is 8mins walk from Otaru train stn/ bus stn. 2. Surrounded with many restaurants and walking distance to Sankaku market, Otaru canal as well as Sakaimachi Hondori street. 3. Room size was just nice, and bed were comfortable 4. Free coffee and biscuits provided from 7am-6pm. 5. For the breakfast you can choose between Japanese or Western breakfast. 6. No self service laundry facility on-site. Overall we had a pleasant stay."

"Honestly the only praise to give to this hotel is the staff attitude and the location which is near the canal. The staffs were-Helpful and dedicated .  I can accept the hotel is old and not so spacious. But one thing I really can’t take it is the level of the bathroom. I can’t understand why the level is so high. We need to step a big leap to climb in order to get into the bathroom. Also to get into the bathtub to stand to shower was dangerous too. It was unbelievable deep. I almost fell.  This hotel is really not suitable for elderly people. And need to pay extra careful attention when you climb to the bathroom and to the bathtub. Sometimes I do not understand why can’t just list out that you would need to collect onsen tax. If I know I need to pay for that I would not want to choose this hotel. Because I do not go for the onsen."

"Considering it's right across from the station, the outdoor hot spring area is surprisingly well-designed to create a sense of tranquility amidst the bustling surroundings – it's a really nice touch. The breakfast, especially with its Hokkaido-style seafood, is exceptional. You can literally have as much salmon roe and salmon as you want! Plus, the nearby supermarket is very budget-friendly and offers incredible value for money. Highly recommend."

"Location is excellent, right amongst the main shopping malls, seafood markets, restaurants and commercial streets. You can see the TV tower from some of the rooms and the rooftop barbecue site. The check-in process is however painfully slow. The staff forgot to give us water (supposedly one would receive one bottle per night per person at the reception). The room card we received was also not working... The room albeit clean and tidy was rather barebone and small. It's quite rare nowadays to have a hotel of this pricing not to offer a TV. The breakfast was also very simple. 4 types of crepes. And some very limited choices of food items. I would recommend this hotel to people looking for a quick resting spot with easy access to main visiting spots and having no high requirements for hotel amenities."
