Anonymous UserOverall, the property has a pleasant concept, and the surrounding greenery creates a very nice jungle‑resort, exotic atmosphere. The natural environment is well‑designed and enjoyable but my 2 nights stay came with several issues that future guests may want to be aware of. Considering the price, there are much better options in the area that offer a more comfortable experience and better facilities.
1. Privacy & Layout The architectural layout offers very limited privacy. From the balcony, neighboring rooms are directly visible, which made it difficult to use the outdoor space comfortably.
2. Cleanliness & Hygiene Some areas of the room were not thoroughly cleaned. The built‑in storage under the bed had visible dust and dirt, making it unsuitable for storing clean clothes. In the shower area, the pebble‑style floor creates many hard‑to‑clean corners. Before I even used the shower, I noticed hair and even ***** hair trapped between the stones. During showering, water drained extremely slowly, causing the floor to flood and submerge above my feet under standing water. This design makes the area prone to bacteria buildup and was uncomfortable to use, especially for female guests during sensitive times.
3. Bathroom Fixtures The handheld bidet spray had extremely strong pressure and ice‑cold water, which made it uncomfortable to use—especially for women during sensitive days.
4. Safety & Property Layout The property’s terrain is quite complex, with multiple staircases and uneven levels. At night, many areas are poorly lit, which can be unsafe if guests are not watching their step. Some decorative reflective pieces hanging from trees also create a rather unsettling atmosphere after dark. The corridor near my room remained unlit at night, making the area feel dim and uncomfortable. Additionally, during rainy weather, several outdoor areas accumulated water, making certain paths slippery and less safe to walk through.
5. Room FacilitiesvThe room does not have a wardrobe or proper clothing hangers. The only hanging option is a decorative tree‑branch style rack, which is suitable for small items but not for clothing. As a result, clothes can only be placed on the balcony, where humidity and rain make it difficult to keep them dry.vThere is also no bedside lamp or reading light, which makes the room not work‑friendly.vAdditionally, there is no luggage rack or storage space, so suitcases must be kept on the floor throughout the stay.
6. Condition of FacilitiesvMany parts of the property appear worn down and in need of maintenance. In the dining area, several corners and edges show visible deterioration, and I noticed areas with water leakage. Overall, the facilities feel quite aged and could benefit from repairs and updates.
7. Service & CommunicationvThere is no phone in the room, and front desk service ends around 10 PM. Even after I added the property’s contact information, my door was still knocked on at night despite having a “Do Not Disturb” sign displayed. Complimentary water was provided, but only when requested; it was not proactively replenished.
8. Deposit & BreakfastvThe property requires a cash deposit upon arrival, which feels unusual considering the age and condition of the facilities. Breakfast was provided, but the quality was noticeably lower compared to other homestays in the area.
9. Additional Safety ConcernsvI found a sharp, hard plastic piece in a dish I ordered. I pulled it out from my mouth, and I almost swallowed it. The meal was remade, but the original dish was not waived.vThe bathroom door lock also malfunctioned once. There were also quite a few jumping spiders in the room due to the environment, likely because regular insect control is not performed. I requested insect spray from the front desk, and they did respond quickly and helped resolve it.

Guest UserThis was the hotel my kids were most excited about. When I booked, I saw that children weren't allowed on the ground floor with pool access, so I had to book two rooms. I was worried they'd make a big deal about the kids not being allowed on the first floor at check-in, but they didn't at all, and they even welcomed the little ones! The kids had a blast in the pool, totally worth the price. The afternoon tea desserts, honestly, weren't really anything edible. I thought there would be mini cakes or something, but it was just self-serve dried pumpkin and dried banana 😂. However, the hotel's location is excellent, very close to the old town with plenty of food and shopping nearby. The only thing I couldn't quite get used to was the breakfast at this vegetarian hotel – no eggs, surprisingly, haha. Oh, and by the way, the packaged snacks next to the bottled water aren't complimentary; they charged for them at checkout!

Anonymous UserI was really looking forward to this room, which cost nearly 800 a night, but the actual experience was very disappointing. It couldn't compare to the entire Airbnb house we stayed in before, which was only 400 a night.
Facilities: The room facilities were similar to a budget hotel back home. The mattress was very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on, and the soundproofing was poor. Besides the room being a bit larger and the breakfast being acceptable, there wasn't much else to rave about.
Environment: On the morning after our first night, I woke up to find several small ants crawling on the bed and our clothes. It gave me the creeps. I forgot to take pictures, but there were even more ants in the dirty clothes we packed to take home.
Service: There was hardly any service to speak of. The front desk staff's attitude was perfunctory, and the hotel didn't have a washing machine; they told us we'd have to go outside to do laundry. In short, the value for money is very low. It's really not worth it!

Guest UserI had a wonderful stay at Bella Nara in Chiang Mai. The location is incredibly convenient—within walking distance to plenty of restaurants and the town center, making it easy to explore the area on foot.
The hotel itself is beautiful, with elegant French-inspired decor that gives it a lovely, boutique feel. The sauna was a fantastic bonus after a day of sightseeing!
Breakfast was good, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with all the amenities I needed. The staff were courteous and attentive throughout my stay, which made the experience even better.
I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Chiang Mai.

I came to Chiang Mai for Songkran and chose this hotel based on a friend's recommendation. I was very impressed with the location and the excellent service from the staff. They paid attention to every detail. The manager and owner constantly checked in on me and offered assistance, making me feel like a true relative. The hotel room was clean, and the amenities provided were up to 5-star hotel standards. The bed was soft and comfortable, and I slept soundly. I purchased breakfast separately at the restaurant for 350 baht. It was a set menu with many options to choose from, all incredibly delicious, and you could order more. There are also very cute and friendly cats here. This is one of the hotels I highly recommend staying at in Chiang Mai. I will definitely be back.

JlilleyHotel Aono (Chiang Mai) – Deluxe King Room Review
If you are looking for a clean, quiet, and well-located boutique base for a city break in Chiang Mai, Hotel Aono in the Chang Khlan area is a fantastic 3-star choice. It masterfully balances a minimalist, modern aesthetic with genuine Thai hospitality.
Here is a breakdown of what to expect from their Deluxe King Room setup.
The Room & Bed Comfort
The Deluxe King Room offers a generous 31 m² (334 sq ft) of space, giving it a much more open and bright feel than the tighter standard options. The design language is heavily inspired by contemporary Japanese and Thai minimalism clean lines, uncluttered wooden features, and tile flooring.
The King Bed: The focal point of the room is an exceptionally comfortable, large king-size bed equipped with crisp, high quality linens. It strikes the perfect balance between supportive and plush, making it an excellent retreat after a long day of walking through the Old City.
Amenities: The room features a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, free high-speed Wi-Fi, an electric kettle, a dedicated sitting/work area, and incredibly strong, reliable air conditioning (vital for dealing with the Chiang Mai heat).
The Bathroom: Includes a modern layout with a spacious walk-in shower, a separate toilet, a hair dryer, and plenty of fresh towels and complimentary toiletries.
Atmosphere & Views
Most Deluxe King units are positioned on the ground floor with peaceful views looking directly out toward the hotel’s courtyard garden and the year-round outdoor swimming pool.
A Quick Tip on Ground Floor Rooms: Because the windows look out over the central pool area, the natural light is wonderful. However, keep in mind that sound insulation from the courtyard can occasionally be a little thin if other guests are chatting loudly by the pool or walking past your door.
Location Perks
The property is tucked down a quiet alleyway right next to the revitalized Khlong Mae Kha canal, making it highly scenic for evening strolls.
While it sits just outside the immediate bustle of the Old City walls, the location is incredibly strategic:
Chiang Mai Night Bazaar: A short, easy walk away.
Tha Phae Gate / Old City: Easily reachable within a few minutes by foot or a quick grab taxi.
Local Cafes: Right next door to great neighborhood coffee spots like A Day In Chiangmai Coffee Brew.
“ the Deluxe King Room at Hotel Aono punches well above its weight class. The housekeeping team keeps the entire property spotlessly clean, and the friendly, attentive staff make you feel welcome the moment you walk in. It is highly recommended for couples or solo travelers who want an affordable, highly aesthetic, and peaceful sanctuary.”

Guest UserThis is hands down one of the best stays away from home I have had, 11 out of 10 to put it plainly.
I consider myself a seasoned traveller, and have stayed at most of the name brand 5 star chains (4 seasons, Regent, Ritz Carlton etc) and many boutique hotels (small luxury hotels of the world etc) across in Asia, Africa and the West. By any standard of hospitality, Villa Mahabirom stands out, where you feel comfortable in luxury and well cared for by the staff.
The property is very private, even if it is only 15 minutes away from the international airport, a private oasis hidden from sight - you wouldn't know it exists just passing it by. It is small with 15 villas, so even at maximum capacity I can imagine it remains serene and peaceful. While we were there, there were a few guests and it did feel as if the entire property belonged to us, which isn't bad at all! The occasional plane passing overhead is not
Each villa is unique, and as I read, assembled from century-old collections of old Thai houses from across the country, painstakingly reassembled. If you are looking for that sense of culture and heritage, look no further. There are other standouts in Chaing Mai such as Rachamankha (which I have visited), but Villa Mahabirom doesn't play second fiddle to them in my opinion. The high ceilings of our room (#101) gives you a huge sense of space, and the large bathroom is marble tiled, making for a great contrast between the ancient and the modern. Sheets, pillows, bathrobes, all the basics are super clean and fresh, nothing less than what you would expect at a major outfit like the Four Seasons.
One of the most creative aspects of this hotel experience is the ability to hangout at around 5 curated public spaces across the property, each with a unique set of chairs/couches, Thai furniture and sculptures. Great for early morning Yoga, reading a book in the afternoon, or hanging out at night with a drink. It's not a big property. The pool might be considered on the small side, but again, with only a limited number of villas, it's rarely crowded, and we were able to enjoy a private pool experience on each of the 3 days we were there.
Above all, the service here, the care and attention is important to mention. My other half had to stay behind at the hotel with a different flight time on our last day, and we extended her late checkout to 2PM, which was further extended to 8PM proactively by the staff later in the day - they probably realised that the room didn't have an incoming guest, but regardless, I've never seen that type of consideration anywhere else. Service during dining is impeccable, you always feel someone is waiting on you, to take your order or keep your glass full, little details that used to be standard but are slipping away more and more. The only thing that I wish could be improved is that the front desk does close at 10PM, leaving one a bit worried about late night requests or issues.
To wrap up, this isn't a property with grand views, or built on the top of a mountain, or have 300 rooms with 2 bars and 6 Michelin star restaurants - and for me that's perfectly fine because it stands tall on it's own terms in the boxing ring.

Guest UserFrom the exterior and lobby, you can tell this used to be a high-end hotel, but the rooms are definitely outdated. The cleanliness was acceptable, but the air conditioning was really noisy, and there were no power outlets by the bed or a single switch to turn off the lights. However, considering the price, which also included breakfast, I can't really ask for more. There's also an outdoor pool and gym on the 2nd floor. The value for money is absolutely superb.

JonKMWe really loved this hotel. The room was large, clean, and beautifully designed. The pool was also great. It is also in a great location right night to one of the main night markets, and nearby everything else. But the best thing were the friendly and helpful staff. Especially Eve who helped us find some nice local places, and made great reccomendations on what to see and do which really enhanced our trip. Thank you so much!

Vanthy MaiIf you want a room with good price located inside old town then you should consider this place. However there are some pro and con for your information.
Pro: reasonable price. Great location. Friendly staffs swimming pool.
Con: room should be a bit more clean than that. AC was really loud.
