"I was very satisfied with my stay 🥳 I hope families choosing this hotel don't expect five-star standards from it. It already offers great value for money. For a hotel costing 300-400 baht a night, it has Wi-Fi 🛜, a bathtub 🛁, a pool 🏊, and the Lanna charm ⛺️ you'd expect. Yes, the hotel is a bit old, but it has everything you need. For someone who's lived in Thailand for a long time and experienced many hotels, big and small, if you're going to Chiang Mai and just plan to explore the Old City, this place offers excellent value. Even though it might not be on the main street or as aesthetically pleasing as some trendy 'influencer' hotels, downtown Chiang Mai isn't very big. Whether you're heading to a temple, Nimman Road, or a mall, a scooter will get you there in 10-15 minutes, and Grab cars can also reach it. Personally, I prefer a scooter 🏍️. You can refer to my photos for specific details. If you're particular about towels, you can bring your own – even in China, clean-freaks might do this. The towels here aren't dirty, just a bit old, so please don't be too picky, darling! 🤪 The hotel staff are all very friendly. If you like ordering delivery, they'll bring it right to the hotel entrance. There are a few details to note: the bathroom drainage might be a bit old, so there might be some odor, but that's normal. ⚠️ If your package doesn't include breakfast, it costs an additional 250 baht. However, there are many options to choose from, suitable for families, and they even have Chinese translation. Since the hotel is relatively small, if there are a lot of guests, the soundproofing might not be perfect, and you might hear a little noise."

"The room was glorious. I enjoyed the fresh air and AC. The service at the hotel was grand. The staff helped me to check in. They even rented me an umbrella. This is a caring staff. At the room I could recover well. The room was cleaned often. The lounge on the deck was a nice place to stretch. After I had the buffet breakfast. It was set on the table. Many options to choose from. I would recommend this hotel if you want a quiet place. This hotel and pool offer a good place to reset. There are vegan restaurants in walkable distance."

"The location is fantastic, with motorbike rental shops right outside, and the front desk staff are very welcoming. However, there is no elevator in the hotel, though the staff will help carry your luggage. Everything else is great—the room is spacious and well-equipped. Although it's not a brand-new hotel and some facilities are a bit dated, it is cleaned thoroughly every day and maintains a high level of cleanliness. Free bottled water and disposable toiletries are also provided in the room, which exceeded expectations for this price. The owner is very friendly and speaks Chinese, and the young lady on the night shift also speaks a little Chinese, making communication a breeze!"

"The lighting was a bit too dim, which seems to be a common issue in Thailand. However, the location was super convenient for the Saturday Night Market and the Silver Temple; both were less than a five-minute walk away. The breakfast menu changed daily, which was a nice touch, and the orange juice in the morning was delicious, as was the coffee! They also provided plenty of bottled water."

"The hotel is located in the old city. The front entrance is a bit small, but once you step inside, you'll find a delightful surprise. The front desk staff were very enthusiastic. After check-in, they even escorted us to our room and thoroughly explained all the facilities. All the food in the room, including the drinks in the mini-bar, were complimentary. The hotel's garden is very lush and boasts a charming Northern Thai style and character! There are many creatively designed coffee corners where guests can relax and enjoy snacks. The breakfast was excellent, and there are many great restaurants near the hotel. Tha Phae Gate is also within walking distance. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this hotel and would definitely stay here again on my next visit!👍"

"Stayed for 3 nights, it's a very quiet place, sometimes eerily so. Safe access with key card. The air conditioning was cold and the Wi-Fi worked well. Some of the room's fixtures are showing their age. The soundproofing isn't great; the room feels quite echoey. I could hear the TV from the room next door late at night as if it were in my own room. The price is reasonable and there are seasonal fruits and snacks available for free. The downsides are almost no parking space and no elevator."

"This was my first solo trip abroad, and the moment I stepped into Na U hotel, all my initial nervousness vanished! :) Despite my late arrival, I was greeted with such bright smiles, which immediately put me at ease and allowed me to start my trip feeling relaxed. Not just the front desk staff, but also the housekeeping, facilities maintenance, and food service teams – everyone was incredibly kind. During my 6-day stay, I always felt comfortable and at ease. I'll miss the staff as much as I'll miss the beautiful scenery of Chiang Mai. I don't know if they'll see this review, but thank you so much! :) The facilities are even more beautiful and cleaner than they appear in the photos. Is ”Na U” meant to mean ”a good place to stay”? Because it truly was! :)"

"The staff were friendly, helpful but not intrusive. The quiet environment was very relaxing. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day. However, the room might be a bit small if you have a large suitcase. It's great that there's always chilled drinking water available in the lobby, so you can quench your thirst whenever you need to. Chiang Mai Gate is also nearby, allowing you to fully enjoy the morning local market, evening street food, and morning alms giving. The only downside was that the water supply in the entire hotel broke down in the early hours during my stay, and the toilets became unusable. It took several hours for repairs, so I couldn't get ready in the morning. Well, that's an experience too, I guess."

"This hotel is absolutely heavenly! From the moment you step out of the car, there's someone there waiting to help you with your luggage. They even stop traffic to ensure you cross the street safely. Every time you leave or return, if there are staff around, they greet you with such warmth. It's the first time I've ever encountered a hotel where every single employee is so incredibly friendly. And the breakfast? It's amazingly delicious – so good that even after I was full, I ordered another bowl of beef noodles. Simply divine!!"

Amazing
AAnonymous UserOverall, the property has a pleasant concept, and the surrounding greenery creates a very nice jungle‑resort, exotic atmosphere. The natural environment is well‑designed and enjoyable but my 2 nights stay came with several issues that future guests may want to be aware of. Considering the price, there are much better options in the area that offer a more comfortable experience and better facilities. 1. Privacy & Layout The architectural layout offers very limited privacy. From the balcony, neighboring rooms are directly visible, which made it difficult to use the outdoor space comfortably. 2. Cleanliness & Hygiene Some areas of the room were not thoroughly cleaned. The built‑in storage under the bed had visible dust and dirt, making it unsuitable for storing clean clothes. In the shower area, the pebble‑style floor creates many hard‑to‑clean corners. Before I even used the shower, I noticed hair and even ***** hair trapped between the stones. During showering, water drained extremely slowly, causing the floor to flood and submerge above my feet under standing water. This design makes the area prone to bacteria buildup and was uncomfortable to use, especially for female guests during sensitive times. 3. Bathroom Fixtures The handheld bidet spray had extremely strong pressure and ice‑cold water, which made it uncomfortable to use—especially for women during sensitive days. 4. Safety & Property Layout The property’s terrain is quite complex, with multiple staircases and uneven levels. At night, many areas are poorly lit, which can be unsafe if guests are not watching their step. Some decorative reflective pieces hanging from trees also create a rather unsettling atmosphere after dark. The corridor near my room remained unlit at night, making the area feel dim and uncomfortable. Additionally, during rainy weather, several outdoor areas accumulated water, making certain paths slippery and less safe to walk through. 5. Room FacilitiesvThe room does not have a wardrobe or proper clothing hangers. The only hanging option is a decorative tree‑branch style rack, which is suitable for small items but not for clothing. As a result, clothes can only be placed on the balcony, where humidity and rain make it difficult to keep them dry.vThere is also no bedside lamp or reading light, which makes the room not work‑friendly.vAdditionally, there is no luggage rack or storage space, so suitcases must be kept on the floor throughout the stay. 6. Condition of FacilitiesvMany parts of the property appear worn down and in need of maintenance. In the dining area, several corners and edges show visible deterioration, and I noticed areas with water leakage. Overall, the facilities feel quite aged and could benefit from repairs and updates. 7. Service & CommunicationvThere is no phone in the room, and front desk service ends around 10 PM. Even after I added the property’s contact information, my door was still knocked on at night despite having a “Do Not Disturb” sign displayed. Complimentary water was provided, but only when requested; it was not proactively replenished. 8. Deposit & BreakfastvThe property requires a cash deposit upon arrival, which feels unusual considering the age and condition of the facilities. Breakfast was provided, but the quality was noticeably lower compared to other homestays in the area. 9. Additional Safety ConcernsvI found a sharp, hard plastic piece in a dish I ordered. I pulled it out from my mouth, and I almost swallowed it. The meal was remade, but the original dish was not waived.vThe bathroom door lock also malfunctioned once. There were also quite a few jumping spiders in the room due to the environment, likely because regular insect control is not performed. I requested insect spray from the front desk, and they did respond quickly and helped resolve it.

GGuest UserThis was the hotel my kids were most excited about. When I booked, I saw that children weren't allowed on the ground floor with pool access, so I had to book two rooms. I was worried they'd make a big deal about the kids not being allowed on the first floor at check-in, but they didn't at all, and they even welcomed the little ones! The kids had a blast in the pool, totally worth the price. The afternoon tea desserts, honestly, weren't really anything edible. I thought there would be mini cakes or something, but it was just self-serve dried pumpkin and dried banana 😂. However, the hotel's location is excellent, very close to the old town with plenty of food and shopping nearby. The only thing I couldn't quite get used to was the breakfast at this vegetarian hotel – no eggs, surprisingly, haha. Oh, and by the way, the packaged snacks next to the bottled water aren't complimentary; they charged for them at checkout!

AAnonymous UserI was really looking forward to this room, which cost nearly 800 a night, but the actual experience was very disappointing. It couldn't compare to the entire Airbnb house we stayed in before, which was only 400 a night. Facilities: The room facilities were similar to a budget hotel back home. The mattress was very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on, and the soundproofing was poor. Besides the room being a bit larger and the breakfast being acceptable, there wasn't much else to rave about. Environment: On the morning after our first night, I woke up to find several small ants crawling on the bed and our clothes. It gave me the creeps. I forgot to take pictures, but there were even more ants in the dirty clothes we packed to take home. Service: There was hardly any service to speak of. The front desk staff's attitude was perfunctory, and the hotel didn't have a washing machine; they told us we'd have to go outside to do laundry. In short, the value for money is very low. It's really not worth it!

GGuest UserI had a wonderful stay at Bella Nara in Chiang Mai. The location is incredibly convenient—within walking distance to plenty of restaurants and the town center, making it easy to explore the area on foot. The hotel itself is beautiful, with elegant French-inspired decor that gives it a lovely, boutique feel. The sauna was a fantastic bonus after a day of sightseeing! Breakfast was good, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with all the amenities I needed. The staff were courteous and attentive throughout my stay, which made the experience even better. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Chiang Mai.

GGuest UserI came to Chiang Mai for Songkran and chose this hotel based on a friend's recommendation. I was very impressed with the location and the excellent service from the staff. They paid attention to every detail. The manager and owner constantly checked in on me and offered assistance, making me feel like a true relative. The hotel room was clean, and the amenities provided were up to 5-star hotel standards. The bed was soft and comfortable, and I slept soundly. I purchased breakfast separately at the restaurant for 350 baht. It was a set menu with many options to choose from, all incredibly delicious, and you could order more. There are also very cute and friendly cats here. This is one of the hotels I highly recommend staying at in Chiang Mai. I will definitely be back.

GGuest UserThis is hands down one of the best stays away from home I have had, 11 out of 10 to put it plainly. I consider myself a seasoned traveller, and have stayed at most of the name brand 5 star chains (4 seasons, Regent, Ritz Carlton etc) and many boutique hotels (small luxury hotels of the world etc) across in Asia, Africa and the West. By any standard of hospitality, Villa Mahabirom stands out, where you feel comfortable in luxury and well cared for by the staff. The property is very private, even if it is only 15 minutes away from the international airport, a private oasis hidden from sight - you wouldn't know it exists just passing it by. It is small with 15 villas, so even at maximum capacity I can imagine it remains serene and peaceful. While we were there, there were a few guests and it did feel as if the entire property belonged to us, which isn't bad at all! The occasional plane passing overhead is not Each villa is unique, and as I read, assembled from century-old collections of old Thai houses from across the country, painstakingly reassembled. If you are looking for that sense of culture and heritage, look no further. There are other standouts in Chaing Mai such as Rachamankha (which I have visited), but Villa Mahabirom doesn't play second fiddle to them in my opinion. The high ceilings of our room (#101) gives you a huge sense of space, and the large bathroom is marble tiled, making for a great contrast between the ancient and the modern. Sheets, pillows, bathrobes, all the basics are super clean and fresh, nothing less than what you would expect at a major outfit like the Four Seasons. One of the most creative aspects of this hotel experience is the ability to hangout at around 5 curated public spaces across the property, each with a unique set of chairs/couches, Thai furniture and sculptures. Great for early morning Yoga, reading a book in the afternoon, or hanging out at night with a drink. It's not a big property.  The pool might be considered on the small side, but again, with only a limited number of villas, it's rarely crowded, and we were able to enjoy a private pool experience on each of the 3 days we were there. Above all, the service here, the care and attention is important to mention. My other half had to stay behind at the hotel with a different flight time on our last day, and we extended her late checkout to 2PM, which was further extended to 8PM proactively by the staff later in the day - they probably realised that the room didn't have an incoming guest, but regardless, I've never seen that type of consideration anywhere else. Service during dining is impeccable, you always feel someone is waiting on you, to take your order or keep your glass full, little details that used to be standard but are slipping away more and more. The only thing that I wish could be improved is that the front desk does close at 10PM, leaving one a bit worried about late night requests or issues. To wrap up, this isn't a property with grand views, or built on the top of a mountain, or have 300 rooms with 2 bars and 6 Michelin star restaurants - and for me that's perfectly fine because it stands tall on it's own terms in the boxing ring.

YYoYoYoYoYoYo1912The decor is a bit old-fashioned, but the room was very clean, and the air conditioning cooled down quickly. You could even see the sunset over Doi Suthep from the window. An incredibly optimistic and enthusiastic uncle at the hotel entrance helped with our luggage and even spoke a few words of Chinese. The breakfast had a good variety and a beautiful setting, plus there's a pool. It's a hotel with great value for money. It's about a 10-minute walk to Maya Mall, and there's also a popular toast shop right next to the hotel that always has a long queue first thing in the morning.

GGuest UserFrom the exterior and lobby, you can tell this used to be a high-end hotel, but the rooms are definitely outdated. The cleanliness was acceptable, but the air conditioning was really noisy, and there were no power outlets by the bed or a single switch to turn off the lights. However, considering the price, which also included breakfast, I can't really ask for more. There's also an outdoor pool and gym on the 2nd floor. The value for money is absolutely superb.

It is also in a great location right night to one of the main night markets, and nearby everything else. But the best thing were the friendly and helpful staff.
