I had high expectations of Capella Sydney after staying multiple times at Capella Bangkok and being treated as though I were the most important person in the hotel, just like all of the other guest who stay there are. The attention to service detail at Sydney location unfortunately failed very short to meet my expectations. The booking process on the website was glitchy and the pricing was inconsistent, sometimes showing pricing including tax sometimes not without indication and only upon receiving confirmation via email from reservations was the price confirmed, which did not match the screenshots of the reservation when I placed the booking so I had to go back and forth with reservations via phone and email to simply confirm the accurate pricing for my stay. After creating an account to log on to their booking platform although the option of modifying the booking was offered, the feature did not work on the site, so you had to cancel the booking and book a new booking if you simply wanted to extend by 1 day. This is before I even arrived at the hotel. When I did arrive, it is of course, no small feat that the restoration of this historic building was carried out with the utmost respect for the architecture, from the flooring material to the fenestration and even the internal grand stair way was brilliantly retro-fitted with current code requirements for the handrail in a historically appropriate yet contemporary solution. The hotel does not have many floors, so I encourage anyone to take the stairs to experience the beauty of the restoration work. The recognition of the strong identity of the urban location and sense of place in Sydney’s CBD offers us a promise, an encounter, as the space of the possible. I wish I could say the same about the interior design. There was a real disconnect between the intent of the architecture and that of the interior design. The decoration at best seemed vague, and so for the guest experience, how could one of have a point of view about the effect of the design? The space of the expectant “possible” relationship I was expecting from the simple activity of stepping into Farrer Place’s south entryway marked Department of Agriculture, as local stories interpreting colonial history with ancestral elements of the Eora people by Waayni artist Judy Watso unfolded, or the sense of expansive freedom through the bronze Palazzo doors on Loftus Street into the latent quiet luxury of the grand stair was lost when I was met with the contrasting designs and colours of the lift lobby vestibule axminster carpet and that of the corridor carpet to the guest rooms, able to be seen in the same frame. Although an argument can be made about eclecticism and the use of curating a collection of exceptional vintage and contemporary objects this was not the case here, it read as a mismatched bric-à-brac (to borrow a Victorian word from the building time period that's true meaning in French means ”any old way” or ”at random”). Staying in Fullerton Hotel is a wonderful experience. Hesitating between the Fullerton Hotel and the Four Season, finally here we are. Half an hour was spent on the way to the hotel from Sydney International Airport by train, which is in the vicinity of St James Station. Greeted by professional concierge and receptionist, the check in was less than 5 mins. 1 dollar was deducted from card as deposit. The room of 40 square meters was really big for two person. Mini bar was filled with different kind of drinks. Bed & sofa was soft and cozy. Room service was available via a black i-pad on the table, paid by either cash or card when checking out. Sydney Opera House & Hyde Park was nearby, together with other luxury stores. The room price was friendly during off-season,which will definitely double when the new year come. Haven’t tried the Four Season yet and can not give any comments, but Fullerton experience was truly nice and worthy.

I stayed at the hotel for 2.5 weeks during one of the busiest times in Sydney. The rooms were cleaned daily. The staff exceptional. The manager on duty incredible. I had a few hiccups as any traveller would at any hotel but once mentioned by me to the staff they without hesitation went beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. It isn’t the most glamorous or biggest or even the most sophisticated place but it was perfect for a solo guy like me travelling in Australia for Mardi Gras and site seeing. Other friends of mine ran into numerous problems beyond my challenges at other big chain hotels but this little place kept me going and made me very happy. I’d return anytime. It’s location is perfect for site seeing and a overnight sleep or daytime nap. Thanks to all the staff there that were amazing. See ya again soon I hope!

Everything went well. We were provided with the twin bed room as specified in our booking, with no unexpected surprises like being given a king bed, which we did not want.. Stayed for 3 nights. Amenities were of good quality. Service was not bad, was attended to immediately at the entrance by the bell boy who handed our luggages with enthusiasm. Was also allowed early checked in as our room was ready when we arrived.

We stayed for two nights at the end of May. Our room was quiet & clean even if in need of a refurbish, which presumably, going by the building works going on, is in progress. The building works didn't impinge on our stay at all. Our breakfast (which was included in our room rate), was surprisingly good. The area it was served in was very clean and bright. We found all the staff to be pleasant. Being able to checkin & checkout on line made things move quicker, especially the checkout. The cost of accommodation in the city is very high so we were pleased that Song Hotel was a bit more affordable to us.

The hotel is centrally located making it easier for me to explore the nearby attractions both by foot and public transport. The train station, bus stops and metro stops are within 5-10 minutes of walking distance. The room was very clean, also had the facilities to wash my own cups and plates thanks to the in-room dishwashing sink (in addition to the bathroom sink). It also had a microwave oven in the room which was useful. A good supply and variety of tea in addition to instant coffee. Room service for food was also great. Had one of the fastest and smoothest check-ins and check-outs in recent times. Overall, very happy with the services.

Learned about YHA from a travel blog. I booked a queen room with an ensuite for myself (traveled solo), so it felt more like a usual hotel stay rather than the more social/fun rooming with other people. THe price was reasonable. The best part about this hostel is its location--literally in the Center of everything. There's a tram and the train station right outside of the hostel. The next thing that was great about it was the hospitality of the staff. I didn't do much at the hostel or places right outside the building (I bet there was so much to do), so there's not much to add; the pool area at the rooftop was under renovation, so that bummed me a little. Overall, it was a great place to stay for two nights. Would return. Would recommend.

Clean hostel with friendly staff. Rooms were spacious with large lockers for each occupant and personal plugs and bed side lights in a great position. Showers/toilets on each floor and I never had to wait to use them. Downside is that you can hear the music from their basement club even on the 6th floor until late into the night. Didn’t bother me as I was only there a few nights and I managed to get enough sleep. Kitchen is WAY too small for amount of guests in the hostel. The social events put on by the hostel were a good way to meet people as a solo female traveller.

LOCATION IS TERRIFIC!! Just next by central station. I had a large room, and bed is just fit for me - soft but not too much. But the cleaning is one thing needs to be improved. Not because it quite aged, I got one milk in flthe fridge. Surprised. And the floor needs be vacuumed. Overall, still coming back next time.

GGuest UserFirstly, this hotel is perfectly located for business travellers to Macquarie Park Business Centres. The hotel is 5 minutes away from offices, Macquarie Centre and train stations. Absolutely perfect for my work trip. There were some positives. Rooms are fine, completely what you would expect from a business hotel. Bed was comfortable, there was a TV that I never used, space to put luggage and hang up your clothes, a table and a chair etc. However, it goes down hill from there. I'll list the negatives 1 by 1: 1. One pillow had a very strong odour coming from it. Smelled like bad musty BO. I literally had to move the pillow into the cupboard as I couldn't stand the smell. However, this meant that I could smell this musty smell every time I came in and out of the room. 2. 1 of the provide bath towels had a big hole/tear in it. 3. Housekeeping made an error and did not provide shampoo but instead 2 conditioners. Easy enough, I called up reception and they said I have to come down to the reception to get it myself. Fine, went down and was given 1 bottle of shampoo. I went back upstairs to shower only to find that the shampoo given was pre-opened/pre-used. Terrible. After my shower, I went back down to speak to another receptionist who was apologetic and gave me 2 bottles of shampoo. 4. On my second day, I realised housekeeping had not come in, so I went down to speak to the reception again and was told that because of COVID, they only do housekeeping on after the 3rd day of your stay which made it null and void for me. 5. Fitness centre was adequate but they did not replenish the towels and did not clear used towels regularly. On my second day, I had left a used towel on the side as the bin was full. On my third day, the bin was still full and my previous towel still sitting there in the same position I had left it in. Forth day, no more clean towels. 6. If they were so concerned about COVID, they would have more regular cleaning of public areas like the gym and in the hall way where an empty glass and cup set for 3 whole days. The lack of cleaning in public areas to me is unacceptable in the hospitality industry now. All in all, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone given my concerns above, especially the lack of cleanliness while we are dealing with an epidemic.

GGuest User4 night stay for Vivid. Chose this as an Accor member and that it was close to the Harbour. Upgraded to a Prestige Suite, Club benefits and was not disappointed. Yes the building is not new, it’s not like the shiny new hotels in town, but it’s solid and my sleeps were uninterrupted and rarely heard noise from the hall. My Suite 930 was spacious, clean, well appointed, Sofitel Bed topper and electric sockets to plug in my adapters to charge. Like other reviews no USB ports but I’m sure most sensible travellers have an adapter. The Club Sofitel access was the perfect addition. Early check-in and waited with a hot tea while my suite was made up. It was 9:30am but the room was rushed and 30 minutes later I was unpacking. Evening canapés and drinks from 5:30pm. Table drink service by Alley and her dedicated, personable, attentive team. They remember your preferences pretty quickly and it became an oasis from Vivid hoping and sightseeing. My suite completely blocked out the light and slept through 2 alarms, it’s the Sofitel Bed topper. Breakfast at Club Sofitel, peaceful, plenty of options to choose from, salmon and capers to a great gluten free station, eggs cooked to order and a great way to start the day. Try the Dilmah Blood Orange and Eucalyptus tea. Thanks Lara. Afternoon Tea served from 2:30 and daily sandwiches , scones, cakes and complimentary drinks, tea, coffee and soft. On entering the Club Lounge, always a friendly greeting, your preferred drink served and a relaxing space anytime of the day. The Club team really made my stay, they work really hard to make your stay great. Housekeeping always made up my room before my afternoon return. Always a Bonjour as you walked past them in the hall. My stay was great. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The Lobby is grand and the history of this hotel makes her great. Not the newest but I prefer tradition and good honest service. Definitely not the style of hotel for everyone but my expectations were met and exceeded beyond imagination. Club Sofitel is a must. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

665763209The biggest advantage of this hotel is that the location is really great! L3 and L2 Pony are just outside the door, and L1 is at the same intersection. The Train is also convenient, so it is very convenient no matter where you go. If you walk, you can walk along Geo St all the way to Circular Quay, passing Town Hall, QVB, etc. We also tried to walk from the hotel to Darling Harbor, UTC and the University of Sydney, Hyde Park, museums, China Town, etc., and they were all very convenient! The disadvantage of the room is that when we opened the balcony door of Room 1510, there was a huge fume exhaust vent, so we couldn't sit on the balcony and drink a cup of coffee, and the sound was a bit noisy. Overall, not bad!

AAnonymous UserIt’s nice comfortable bed and clean sheets. The place is quite old though (used to be a wool factory in past life) and bathroom has mold in the corners but otherwise decently clean. Needs a bit of upgrade. Rooms are very large and has all apar**ent amenities like dishwasher and dishes, oven, washing machine, iron and dryer. Decent stay for work not too far from city. Cafes available one block away but not a lot of options. Plenty of options on food delivery from city though through the major apps. I’d stay again.

GGuest UserGood rates to stay in the heart of the Sydney CBD. Special offer for paying in cash, otherwise the normal charge for using credit card. Located near Town Hall and Queen Victoria Building with easy access to shops, restaurants and transport. Compact Queen Room was small but had the main requirements if you are only staying in the room to sleep and out all day - comfy large bed, TV on the wall, small desk and chair, air con, free wi-fi, small room safe, small fridge and coffee/tea facilities, blackout curtains, regular and nice rain shower fittings. Soap and wall dispensers of shampoo and body wash provided, but other amenities like hair conditioner, iron and iron board or dental kit can be requested from Guest Services (sign with list in the elevator). Friendly staff. Reception closed in the early hours but just use access card. A few negatives. My room was located facing the nearby wall of the building next door (so no view). I requested a view (if possible) but was informed there were no views for my room. I don't think hotels realise how any outlook can make a big difference for some guests to enjoy their stay. If I book again I would check first if a room facing the street was available. Worse and disturbing for me though was the constant humming noise and sometimes slight vibration caused by the air ventilation shafts outside my window (one quite close and attached to the outside wall). It also took a couple of days and some confusion before I received a make up room/do not disturb door sign. Many hotels these days take this lightly and are very casual about such arrangements, but some guests are more comfortable having this sign. Very minor was the cold water barely ran in the bathroom basin which was a little convenient at times. There was a TV entertainment lounge nook in the corridor outside my room which was not used during my stay but I would find that disturbing if it had been. Overall a pleasant stay but check out the different types of rooms available.

CCamintelAlthough my room was very nice and what I expected, unfortunately my overall experience was not very pleasant at this hotel. The staff at the front desk was not only rude, they actually suggested that I find another hotel during check-in because I pointed out a fee discrepancy (credit card surcharges) that was not disclosed during my booking reservation on Trip.com app. Meriton properties doesn’t disclose before, during, or after the reservation (Trip.com) that a credit card usage fee will be added, and that’s dishonest in my opinion. What’s disappointing is the attitude I get for pointing out Meriton’s mistake. First they pointed to the sign on the front desk, however I didn’t make this reservation while standing in their front lobby. Second, they said I should have booked on their website next time where it’s disclosed—perhaps then Trip.com should remove them from their approved hotel list. Finally, to learn of the policy while I check-in by pointing to a sign at the front desk, and then being told that if I don’t like the policy that “I can checkout and take my business elsewhere”, was the last straw and is the definition of horrible customer service and poor resolution management. They could have handled this issue differently and just said, “we will look into it and try to do a better job of informing our customers of our policy online. We apologize for this miscommunication.” They did email me afterwards with an apology but they still didn’t acknowledge their dishonesty in not disclosing their credit card usage fee on Trip.com app.

GGuest User As my partner and I approached The Elysium, we were immediately charmed by the hotel's grandeur, ensconced in an atmosphere of tranquility, a serene oasis in the bustling city. Our stay was but a couple of nights, yet every moment spent there was steeped in pure bliss, leaving us with unforgettable memories. The warmth with which we were greeted upon arrival was only the beginning of our enchanting journey. Despite it being a busy weekend, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and hassle-free. Their genuine interest in our well-being, coupled with their attention to detail, made us feel truly pampered. Our room, a serene haven, was tastefully decorated, blending modern amenities with subtle touches of elegance. A sweeping view of the city skyline against the setting sun from our window was simply mesmerizing, adding an extra layer of magic to our stay. The cleanliness and peaceful ambiance of the room were second to none, contributing to our restful nights. Evening walks in the hotel's serene gardens, imbued with the soft scent of blooming flowers, brought us closer to nature and each other. Meanwhile, the sleek, tranquil spa with its range of rejuvenating treatments further elevated our stay. Our experience at The Elysium was indeed a magical escape, made even more special by the fact that we shared these wonderful moments together. It was a refreshing break, a chance to disconnect from the mundane, and reconnect with each other. Our memories of this place are etched in our hearts, making us yearn to return when the opportunity arises. We left The Elysium with heavy hearts but with the promise of a future visit. It was more than just a hotel, it was an experience, a beautiful chapter in our lives, that we would happily revisit.

Vviva HW Sydney is a newly established hotel offering a range of excellent amenities. The rooftop outdoor pool is particularly noteworthy, providing guests with an amazing experience. However, the hotel's location between two highways can detract from the overall experience, particularly for those sensitive to noise pollution. The rooms, albeit well-equipped with various amenities, are on the smaller side, which can make them feel cramped and limit mobility within the space. Additionally, the control of lighting in the rooms can be cumbersome. Another aspect to consider is the absence of a proper hotel lobby, which is a standard feature in many luxurious five-star hotels. This lack of a dedicated lobby may not meet the expectations commonly associated with a five-star hotel experience, especially in Australia where the standards for luxury accommodations are typically lower.

GGuest UserA great place to stay near Light Rail, Chinatown, Central, and shopping. Our room was excellent, and we found the reception staff always welcoming and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay. It is an excellent hotel for location, for guests who may have difficulty walking up and down sloping streets, as it is in a comparably level area.
