Overall, I felt the hotel was very nicely done with great local touches while still keeping an international atmosphere. I also wanted to point out the great flexibility of the hotel, allowing me to change my meal reservations from 3 dinners at Elements (I was on a package deal) to one at Elements and combining the remaining two meals at Elements to a dinner at Atelier. This allowed me to not have to dine at the same restaurant as well as opening up a slot for me to explore a local restaurant. However, there were two things that I'd like to point out that the hotel can improve upon. The first is the staffing at the club lounge (and in general) is not enough. There were many moments where I was left to wait, to the point where using standard facilities (like the check-in counter, or breakfast at Elements) would have been a more positive experience. Breakfast on 12/21 was where the understaffing really showed, where it took over an hour to complete breakfast; many guests left in the middle of their meal since service was horribly slow. However, the second point us what I would really want the hotel to work on - CoVID countermeasures. Largely, two things I'd like to point out. (1) Temperature screening us inconsistent. I was checked when I first arrived, but never anytime afterwards (or should I say, the thermometer station was unmanned). (2) During my meal at Atelier, my wife and I noticed that the staff (He was Italian, I think his name is Marco?) preparing the dishes (in the open kitchen) prepping a sauce, tasting it with the same spoon which was quickly rinsed it under the faucet and returned into the mixing bowl. I pointed this out to one of the servers (Japanese male, responsible for serving and explaining the dishes). This is where I felt the hotel can improve on - in detail, three things. (i) The Japanese server proceeded to quietly scold the staff in front of me, I felt that was not a great experience both for myself and the staff. (ii) Nothing was cleared. After the scolding (and then the staff responding back that he did not put the spoon back in) none of the utensils were changed and no follow up. I guess there is no trust in what a customer points out. And finally (iii) I felt that this is at the fault of the hotel for not putting in proper operation guidelines.A person putting together a meal will need to taste it, to make sure it's good. If the hotel were to put in operational guidelines to ensure tasting can be done while still making it very obvious that it is hygienic, I would not have to be writing this email. Needless to say, our dinner experience was ruined that night. I actually shared the above comment with IHG Guest Relations (on 25 Dec), which the agent was extremely prompt on getting back to me and assured that I would get a response back from the hotel about it within 48 hours. Unfortunately, the hotel never contacted me. I then asked guest relations again (on 5 Jan) to follow up with th

I recently stayed at Kannawaen Sanso Ryokan, and it was a truly remarkable experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff’s warm hospitality made me feel welcomed and relaxed. The ryokan is set in a beautiful, serene location, surrounded by nature, offering a peaceful retreat from daily life.
The room was spacious and tastefully decorated in traditional Japanese style, blending modern comforts with authentic charm. The private onsen attached to my room was a highlight, allowing me to unwind in soothing hot springs while taking in the picturesque views.
What truly sets Kannawaen apart is the attention to detail and personalized service. The staff went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect, making me feel truly cared for throughout my stay.
If you’re looking for a luxurious, tranquil getaway with impeccable service and a true Japanese experience, I highly recommend Kannawaen Sanso Ryokan. It’s a place we would love to visit again.

Really enjoyed this unique hotel that has a mix of art, onsen, great views and decent food. The room (419) was not luxurious but was well designed, the balcony overlooked the extraordinary landscape that is Beppu, the greatest feature was the semi open-air onsen bath facilitated by the floor to ceiling windows, connected to the generous deck space. It was fun to walk around the gallery space and admire the interesting architecture, color palettes, and exhibits championing Beppu culture, landscape, flora, fauna etc. Sitting in the Peak restaurant for dinner, I was amused that one of the waitstaff was a robot that ferried food and empty dishes back and forth. Dinner was laid-back, had a window side seat that allowed me to enjoy the city glitter below. My stay here was at a fraction of another Beppu hotel on this trip, in many ways I enjoyed this place more and would not hesitate to come back.

All the meals were very delicious. The staff were also very polite. The only disappointing thing was that the room was not relaxing. The bed mat was not fixed in place, so it moved every time I had tea or went to the toilet, and there was no lighting at my feet, so it was hard to walk at night. Although the hotel is located on a hill, the bath in the room was completely visible from the outside, which made it hard to relax. It was disappointing that I couldn't relax in the free-flowing hot spring water.

I spent my first two hours doing what I haven’t done for almost three years, driving along the snaking roads in Japan. Arriving at Amane Seikai you feel euphoric, the seafood kaiseiki wasn’t the best, but the sake was good, and I was still giddy from seeing the spacious (1776 sq feet) junior suite with its own ocean view pool, jacuzzi, open-air onsen bath. “Room” 230 is in the new wing (according to my booking.com description), the apartment/room is not especially stylish, except for one little bottle of water and some coffee/tea, the mini bar and fridge were empty, but it has a spectacular view and you’ll still get your ocean view from bed and feel the constant gravitational pull of your private open-air onsen. I got up at 6ish just to catch the first rays of sunlight and to listen to the sound of the waves. Last but not least, the staff that checked me in was really nice and spoke perfect English ( coz he is from Nebraska ☺️)

Overall experience of staying at Seikaiso was very good. The location is close enough to the Beppu station(walking distance 10mins) and bus terminal is 2mins away. The best experience of this Ryokan is the hot springs and private bath on the rooftop. Breakfast is served per room on booking time with Japanese style breakfast. It was various dishes and delicious!
The front staff/restaurant staff/general staff are all friendly and helpful. Especially at the front desk staff Urabe was amazing. He also speak good English so it was very helpful. He helped us everything what we need. 🙏🏼
We will definitely go back to Seikaiso again.

About 12 minutes walk from Beppu station. You can see signs of ages especially the lobby setting, still it’s a clean hotel. The room itself was spacious and it was renovated not long ago. The onsen is not big but it’s never crowd during my evening and morning visits. Breakfast is reasonably good with plenty of local dishes. Well worth the money.

I booked Amane Resort Gahama via orbitz in the very last minutes (the day of check-in) since there were no Airbnbs or other hotels available in the area for that day. My stay here with my family ended up being SO perfect & fantabulous:) As soon as I walked in the room, my inner voice says, “OMG I accidentally treated myself. This is like heaven!!” :) 1. Our room came with 2 onsen (hot spring) bath tubs. One is built in open air in the garden (roten buro), and the other is built inside (see the attached pictures). The two bath tabs are separated by the glass sliding doors. I truly enjoyed and appreciated the experience. I hopped in the bath as many times as I could to make my money worth!! They also have an open air bath (roten buro) with the beautiful view accessible to all guests. 2. Breakfast included was OMG SO deeelicious. It’s buffet style. They have traditional Japanese, Chinese, Western styled food. All guests were required to wear vinyl gloves whenever they would go get food. They have got this glove dispenser that would pump the air inside of the gloves so all we needed to do was to let our hands slide inside of gloves ( so we would not accidentally touch the next guest’s gloves underneath). I thought this was very generous and appreciated that they were trying hard to minimize contacts for covid prevention. 3. We also ate at the restaurant in the hotel. The staff, wait persons were all so nice. The food was excellent! Non alcoholic plum wine was delicious:) 4. All staffs in the hotel were super nice. We had a great stay thanks to them:)

I stayed in a Japanese room in the earth building with three families with four years old children. Until I went, I was worried because there were many bad evaluations about the oldness of cooking, customer service and facilities in the kuchikomi, but it was a very good inn when I actually went. I think you can see my past reviews, but I realize that it is tough for evaluation. It was an inn that I was very satisfied and wanted to give a high evaluation without regret. < Good point > The bath is the best than anything. The 6 floor has a good view, but the bath itself is normal and there is no special point to note. Recommended is the bath on the 1 floor. Very large open-air bath is worth it alone. There was also a bath that bubbled like a hot water or a Jacuzzi, and the child was very happy. The dishes were above average. Of course, there are many inns that make better dishes, but there is no misfortune like the bad review. First of all, is the dish that has been devised half and the dish that is a little disappointing half? I think it is higher than the average if I think about the price. The sashimi criticized by multiple kuchikomi was also covered with film so that the timing of the meal was perfect at 々. The dining room and corridor were renewed and very bright and modern. The room was old, but it was cleanly maintained and there was no inconvenience. The service was very good for most staff. Especially the elderly female staff were very friendly, polite and nice. The room was a Japanese room with a main 12 tatami mats and a large enough size with a plus front room. Above all, it was an outstanding view of Beppu city and Beppu Bay. The room with a good view up to this is a level that is not very memorable. It may vary depending on the room to stay, but at least the earth building seems to be equipped with all rooms facing Beppu Bay, so you should enjoy the same view. By the way, it was on the 9th floor. Wifi was flying for each room and the speed was fast. < bad point > the attitude of the male staff at the receptionist (a little older) was worried. There is also a review of another person, but even if you ask questions that you don't know, you can read them because they are written on paper. Especially, there was a time margin, not the situation where the next person was waiting and crowded, but it was a pretty cold response. Other than this, it was generally warm and comfortable. In the unrenewed part, the oldness of the facility was visible. The corridor to the hot spring on the first floor and the back side of the building visible from the window. However, it is not dirty or uncomfortable just saying old. It was a little troublesome that there were few towels. Bath towels and hand towels are one piece per person. Is this it? I thought it was a very good inn overall. I think the bad reviews of the past are being properly viewed and improved. Or is it a harassment from the same business? (I didn't think it was particularly problematic this time) I recommend it with confidence.

It's been a long time since I traveled with 5 family members. I searched the weather forecast many times a week ago, and on the day my wishes were made and it was fine. A lot of vehicles in the amusement park. It's a hard ride for the elderly, but I was completely tired of my grandson's happy smile. After playing to the fullest, I had a hot spring and a meal! The quality of the hot springs here is smooth and smooth to the skin, so you don't need body lotion. The rooms are well cleaned and very clean. The food is abundant and the version is upgraded every time I stay, so the whole family is very satisfied this time as well. But my best push at this hotel is the very kind and kind staff 々. If you come to Shiroshima amusement park or golf, please stay once. I'm sure you'll be satisfied and want to stay again. In a quiet environment, a relaxing time is very healing.

GGuest UserDuring our trip, we had a desire for a wild experience like camping, but we also wanted a touch of comfort. After some research, we came across a newly opened resort called Grand Verde Resort, inaugurated in July 2022. The accommodations resembled individual rooms or houses resembling a camp setup, but with the added convenience of a private bathroom. One of the highlights was the opportunity to enjoy a BBQ dinner right next to our room, followed by a bonfire service in the evening. The resort also provided a public bath and sauna room with picturesque views of the beautiful grassland surroundings. Additionally, there was a small farm where guests could feed the sheep, adding to the overall charm of the environment.
金金往股来I went to Japan N times. This time I went to Beppu to book this Japanese-style hotel with breakfast and dinner. The room is very large and there is an open-air hot spring. The room was clean and tidy and the waiters were very welcoming. The breakfast is plentiful and the variety is varied. Dinner is a Japanese dish, and there is still plenty to eat and eat. It is especially memorable that the open-air hot springs in the room are very special. It is the best time I have gone to Japan to experience the hot springs. The hot springs in other places cannot be compared with this one. The water temperature is suitable. The hot spring water seems to be clear, but the texture is pasted. After the bubble, the body is slippery and comfortable. Very close to the Eighth Hell. Go to Beppu next time, or choose this one. There is free parking.
YyousobeautifulIt’s better to find it at night. It’s very close to Beppu Station. It takes about 10 minutes to walk according to the map. The room is on the 2nd floor. If the box is heavy, it’s a bit difficult to move.

GGuest UserGood location, large enough area, with kitchen
Facilities, suitable for a family. But there is no elevator, the room is not shading, and the sound insulation is not good. People who sleep poorly are cautious. Service is basically not available. Health is not good.
GGuest UserVery good, very suitable for our group of 5 people, there are places to eat around, the room is very big, fully equipped, cut 1 point when checking in because the passcode does not send, have to call and the service is a bit late. Other than that, it's all good. There is a parking lot as well.
