Best Kunming Boutique Hotels

This hotel is a hidden gem, offering peace and quiet right between the East and West Pagodas, and next to Jinri Building. The location is absolutely fantastic, with a huge tree providing shade right at the entrance. There are plenty of dining options nearby, which is very convenient. The hotel's design is elegant, and you can see the unique and thoughtful touches everywhere – in the rooms, lobby, and restaurant. I regret not taking more photos! We ended up staying an extra night in Kunming due to a cancelled flight and booked this hotel on a whim, and it was a delightful surprise. The front desk staff were incredibly warm, proactive, and attentive. While we were out sightseeing during the day, they proactively moved our stored luggage to our room. They even brought the afternoon tea we missed directly to our room. For breakfast, we chose the Crossing the Bridge Noodles, and the broth was incredibly fresh and delicious – honestly, better than the mushroom hotpot we'd had for the past few days.

Booked this courtyard hotel for a layover in Kunming, and it truly exceeded my expectations! ✅ Super attentive service: The butler proactively helped us with our luggage when they saw we had a child, and even prepared 'cat treats' for the baby every day to feed the cats. The attention to detail was incredibly touching! ✅ Incredibly soothing environment: The courtyard is filled with lush greenery, like a small garden, and there are nearly 10 super friendly cats. If you leave your room door open, they'll come in to play, even stretching out on the bed. They're so soft and utterly therapeutic! ✅ Convenient location: It's right near Nanping Pedestrian Street, making getting around and finding food very easy. The room was clean and tidy, and we had a particularly comfortable stay. The overall experience was absolutely fantastic. This is a hidden gem I'd highly recommend to friends traveling with children!

Perfect location in a walkable tree-lined neighborhood, where there are lots of upscale restaurants and bars and cafes. The hotel isn’t the newest and could use a touch-up in places but very interesting design, cool artwork in the lobby, huge rooms. A couple machines for laundry and gym on top floor. Service at the reception was super helpful. Breakfast is in a restaurant that is a German beer place during the day and night. Selection is modest but sausages and delicious broth and noodles, the bread could have been more fresh. Would stay here again.

I spent a long time choosing a hotel for our trip to Kunming because I wanted somewhere that would keep the kids entertained, but also be suitable for celebrating our wedding anniversary and a birthday. I chose this place primarily for the bathtub in this room type and its convenient location. However, once we arrived, I was truly impressed by how comprehensive the amenities are. From meals to entertainment, and catering to both children and adults, everything is taken care of. The staff were also incredibly friendly and attentive. The biggest surprise was the handwritten birthday card – in this digital age, a handwritten card really warms the heart. We booked two nights, and we didn't even leave the hotel for one of them; we spent the entire day there with the kids and never got bored. My children are already talking about coming back again.

Because I chose a suite for my birthday, it was very retro and very filmed! Hygiene really has nothing to say, can not find any problems, the bedding is also very new, the slippers are very comfortable, the toothbrush is very easy to use, there are various foam hand sanitizer and laundry detergent these small details are also very plus points, but if you have a disposable toilet pad, it would be better. The facilities are very complete in all aspects, the sofa and bedding and the wardrobe are very high-quality, very high-end and textured, the overall decoration style is really like, whether it is the appearance of the hotel lobby or the interior, the rooms and corridors are very American. The high-end atmosphere is high-grade, and the service is also very good. Every waiter I met from check-in to check-out was very warm and thoughtful, and very caring. I have introduced it to several friends. I will definitely choose here if I have the opportunity in the future! However, there is a suggestion that the sofa cushion of this suite has a broken corner cushion. If there is a condition, it is recommended to renovate it. However, the sofa is not sitting much, and the sofa cushion is not very visible, and it is not much impact. Another point that is highly recommended is that the hotel room has a smoke alarm! ! ! ! ! Because the individual especially hates the smell of smoke, the design of the hotel can completely guarantee the smoke-free environment of the room, it is really super plus points! ! !

The hotel is located right by Dianchi Lake, with separate lanes for vehicles and pedestrians. There's an observation deck not far from the hotel, and it's about 800-900 meters to Haigeng Park and Haihong Wetland. However, you still have to walk further to get to the cable car station, and I estimate the dam is even further – I didn't go there. The hotel is 2.3 kilometers from Xingti Road Station on Metro Line 5. Our package included one complimentary drop-off service to the metro station, which was really good. It would be even better if they offered round-trip shuttle service to the metro for backpackers. However, there aren't many shops around the hotel. For dining, it's either the hotel restaurant or ordering takeout. Park 1903 Commercial Street is about 3 kilometers away, so it's more suitable if you have a car. The hotel service was excellent. The front desk staff, housekeeping, and drivers were all incredibly gentle and friendly. The manager even proactively helped us with our luggage. The hotel is quite understated; in fact, the observation deck not far away offers amazing sunrise views, but they never promote it.
