I have stayed in mercure hotels in over 5 countries and many cities. They are the best. Beds were comfortable and huge rooms. Great service. Location was great with many great local restaurants nearby. Just next to the metro. Super stay! Danke Schone!

Bordering the Rhine River, Lindt Chocolate Museum and Cologne’s city center, the NH Köln Altstadt hotel, formerly known as NH Köln City, is a feast for all of the business or leisure traveler’s senses. Located in the heart of the energetic Rheinauhafen business district, the hotel’s prime location allows visitors to walk all over the Old Town to top local sites including Cologne Cathedral, Kölner Philharmonie, the Roman-German Museum and Köln Messe exhibition center. A short walk to several tram centers including Severinstrasse, Ubierring and Köln Heumarkt stations link travelers to the greater Cologne area. Built in 2002, the NH Köln Altstadt has 204 spacious, plush, modern rooms, many with views of the Rhine or Cologne Cathedral. Guests can seek additional refreshment in the ample spa facility, which includes a sauna, steam bath and relaxation room. For dining options, enjoy the breakfast buffet or a meal at Mediterraneo Restaurant, featuring Italian, French and Spanish cuisine. Guests can converse and unwind on one of our two terraces: an intimate courtyard or another adjacent to the stylish Unico Bar. The hotel also offers eight meeting spaces and can host events for up to 220 people or 180 wedding reception guests.

There was no air conditioning (AC) even though the hotel advertised as having it. Their excuses was that it was too cool at night to operate the AC for the hotel even though it was actually very warm outside. Translation: the entire hotel is either on heat or AC, they are too frugal to allow use of the advertised AC, or their system is outdated and does not actually work properly. Very hot and stuff room. The odd thing was is that the hotel lobby seemed to have AC. The hallways and room were uncomfortably hot. Upon checking in there was only a little bit of toilet paper was left on the roll. Fortunately there was an extra roll provided. Only a few sheets of Kleenex were in the box. Also, the hand soap dispenser was nearly empty. It seems not much care is given to the rooms between guests. On our last day the housekeeper knocks on the door early in the morning even tough the “do not disturb” sign was hung on the door. It was a basic room with furnishings that included a desk, a small round table, 2 small nightstands, a desk chair, and one sitting chair. There was no usable refrigerator, just a mini bar. The was only one suitcase rack situated in the closet. We had to use the sitting chair for our other suitcase. The beds were not too comfortable. Also the pillow case did not completely cover the pillow, so your head might rest upon the exposed portion of the pillow where the lasts hundreds of guest placed their heads. Bathroom was OK but a bit smelly. The shower had low water pressure. Some water will leak out under the shower door to the floor. Stepping over the high tub with a slippery shower floor is a bit precarious. Internet speed was 3.81 Mbps in both upload and download, with 8 ms latency. The location is near the chocolate museum and a good pizza and pasta restaurant is nearby. The cathedral is less than a mile away. At almost 400 euros a night, it was very expensive for a poor experience. Perhaps HN stands for “Not Happy.”

The location is great, close to the Cologne Cathedral. The superior room had a bathtub, but was quite spacious, 36 square meters. However, unlike most European hotels, there were no amenities. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel are all attached to the wall. You need to bring your own razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, and body cream. All of the information is available by scanning the QR code on the desk in the room. It seems that you can find out everything with just a cell phone, but I think that a hotel could do with more hospitality. The toilet had a slightly bad smell, perhaps because it had seeped into the tiles or the back of the lid had not been wiped clean. Also, the bedding, especially the pillows, had the unpleasant smell of someone else's head on them, which made me worry about whether the covers and sheets were being changed properly.

The hotel has been renovated in recent years. The basic conditions are relatively good, the surrounding environment is good and open, and it is very convenient to drive and park.
Opposite the hotel is Cologne's large shopping area, with many factory-style large supermarkets, shopping malls, and home furnishing stores.
There is a subway station nearby, and it is more convenient to take the subway into the city.

Definitely one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in and the best hotel from Accor Hotels. I had accidentally booked the wrong dates for my stay. As soon as I realised it, I contacted the hotel. The staff helped me to change my reservation dates. While on my trip, due to the strikes in France and problems with the train connections I had to postpone my meeting online. I sent an email to request to check in early since I will be having my meeting at 1 p.m. Ms Wulff made the necessary arrangements prior to my arrival. On my arrival I was able to check in early and able to proceed with my online meeting. Without her help I would not be able to conduct my meeting. On the next day, I had another online meeting. Her colleague made the necessary arrangements so that the housekeeping team could get the room cleaned before lunch and my next online appointment. Till date I have stayed in a number of hotels from the Accor Hotels group. In comparison to M Gallery am Konzerthaus in Wien, Hotel Mondial am Dom in Cologne exceeds my expectations. Professionalism The staff at the reception were not only friendly and good at what they are doing, they are also willing to help and went an extra mile to make things possible. I would not have been able to get my work done if they did not help me. Even when checking out, the staff was professional and showed interest to assist customers whenever they dan. Splendid Location Situation a few minutes walk from the train station and the main city area, is this hotel definite one of the most strategic location in Cologne. View of the Cathedral I managed to get a glimpse of the cathedral from my room. Dinner I had dinner at the hotel restaurant. It was not only affordable, the service was impeccable. The waiter even suggested where I could sit so that I can get the best view of the area. Awesome! I would like to thank the remarkable staff for making my stay in Köln memorable und unforgettable. I would definitely be staying in this hotel again when I visit Cologne. We just spent one night here with a group. The hotel is very welcoming and we had a nice room which even included a kettle with tea and coffee facilities. Wow! Even the bedside lighting was excellent. Wow! The pool was lovely, especially since we were in a heatwave and had been travelling all day. What a shame that our good impressions were spoilt by the experience in the restaurant. We understood that there was not much choice of restaurants locally and it was too hot to go into the city so we wanted to eat in the hotel. Their restaurant is quite small. I spoke to a waitress and asked to see a menu and she said I needed to download the QR code to see the menu. No, they didn't have a printout. I had to wait until I was back in my room, united with my iPhone, to read it. There was limited choice, but we decided to go down. The head waiter asked whether we had a reservation. We didn't, so we were told bluntly that the restaurant was full. No apologies, just a stubborn glare. So we started to go out, then noticed that several from our group were sitting at a table just outside the restaurant area. They had been told they could be served there. So we joined them and....were served! The Wiener Schnitzel and chips were ok, the salad drowned in dressing, the wine ok-ish and the price quite high. Pity, as the rest of the hotel was great and the people at reception very helpful.
The 25hours Hotel The Circle is situated just a few minutes walk from the city in a spectacular rotunda. In collaboration with 25hours, the Berlin creative team from Studio Aisslinger developed a design concept on the subject of retro futurism. The 207 rooms are urban retreats with contrasting themes playful retro style meets imaginative future utopias. At the heart of the 25hours Hotel The Circle are the restaurant NENI and the Monkey Bar on the 8th floor with a unique view of Cologne Cathedral.

The hotel can be a little extravagant about decoration and spaces, but the service is excellent, the availability of staff is very good, the clean, comfortable room and with everything necessary to enjoy if you don't look for luxury. The breakfast buffet is very good, I think a little expensive but there is nothing to say about variety and quantity.
Near the metro and walking distance from the Cologne hbf and from tourist sites such as the cathedral, the river, etc. this makes it a good base for business trips (Cologne Messe) or for tourists.

This is a hotel chain, and came to Cologne and chose this brand. The single room is not good, the facilities are not good, and later the toilet problem changed the room, or the sanitation was not good. Inferior to that of Zurich. The service is good. The unit price does not match the facilities at all. It made me afraid to choose this brand in other German cities. Ctrip has also solved this problem. Location can come from the train station.

At this time of year, the “Hofburg” in the Cologne Carnival is highly recommended. We always book at Dorint for our friends and guests. It's always a good idea to meet the Cologne triumvirate and take a photo. The bar is also the meeting place for carnivalists in the evenings.

GGradoThe Hotel shows five stars! The room had no wifi whatsoever, although they showed three different wifi lans. Attempts to bridge this gap with mobile hotspots were not helpful. Noises from other rooms were audible, which means a bad noise insulation. Worst of all was that there was first only boiling hot water in the bathroom. This was due to the fact that all cold water supplies were closed. Still after opening them ourselves, one of the two lavatories cold water regulator was not functional. Shocking was that the shower was switching from regulated 38 degrees Celsius to suddenly boiling hot water and then to ice cold water. This made showering an unpleasant not to say dangerous encounter! You judge if this Hotel deserves the five star rating. Our attempt to communicate the shortcomings was prompted with the statement that the maintenance technicians had left! (???)

Very Good
I enjoyed my stay at the PhiLeRho Koeln. I was very pleased with the staff, in particular Jessica and Andrea were very helpful. It was our first stay, it will not be our last. Your location in the green and treed area was very relaxing. the breakfast was plentiful and had a wonderful assortment of dishes. The patio area was great and I enjoyed it. I think one of the best features, was the other guests. Some that have been staying with you for a number of years.
Situated in a quiet, convienient area, close to all amenities. The room was spotless and the bed confortable. Breakfast was plentiful with a large variety to choose from. However, I would not class this as a hotel. It is not manned after 20.00 until breakfast the following day. The small bar closes at 20.00 and there are no facilities in the room to make a hot drink and no fridge. We woke up in the morning feeling quite dehydrated with no way of getting anything to drink until breakfast. We ensured that we did some shopping for our second night. The small lift, holding one person with luggage, or two people without, stops between floors meaning that you have to carry luggage either up or down a number of steps. There are also steep steps to negotiate at the entrance to the hotel. If you are in any way mobility compromised this is not for you. The bathroom could also be problematic, the shower was over the bath with no mat and no ridging in the bath to prevent slipping.
GGuest UserThe location is excellent, very close to the train station and the cathedral. It's right next to the pedestrian street. If you are tired from shopping, you can come back and take a rest, and then go shopping in the afternoon. But there is a construction site at the door, which is a bit noisy during the day. I saw a review from more than a year ago that mentioned a construction site next to the hotel. I didn't expect that this construction site is still there more than a year later. Overall, it's pretty good. I'll stay here again next time I travel.

GGuest UserMost difficult check-in I’ve ever experienced. I had called 1 day in advance to extend my reservation. The hotel hadn’t updated the booking, and wanted to charge 50% more and only agreed to honour the rate with much huffing, puffing and cursing in German. They then demanded payment in advance, and asked me if my driver’s license was real, as I’m obviously not German. They then informed me that there were no cleaning or guest services due to corona, despite having stayed all over Germany this month and getting basic services provided. They said everyone else was breaking the law. At this point, after 30 mins of arguing I decided to find a different hotel. Absolutely rubbish.
GGuest UserThe Hotel is located at the heart of the town which is a huge plus as everything is accessible and you do not even need to hire a car. The hotel staff are so friendly and helpful and try their best to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable for example the breakfast staff realized that we are eating vegetarian food they surprised us by kindly providing more options to give us plenty to choose from. The cleanliness of the hotel is impeccable. We will definitely return to our favorite hotel. Rania AL-Awadi
KkridenWe made a reservation for this hotel somewhere in April but due to corona we where not allowed to visit Köln. So we rebooked this hotel for August (instead of 3 nights now 2 nights, but we allready paid it for three nights). The communication via email is great!! Quick response. A couple of days in front of our arrival we received an email about the breakfast (which was included). The did not serve a regular breakfast due to corona but instead of this coffee and tea and a croisoint was provided for free in the bar. About our room we had a upgrade and the room was big. And we had a balcony 😍😍. But to be honoust for a 4 star hotel we missed some things. Booking promised us slippers, bathrope etc. But it wasn’t there. No bath only. Shower. No fridge.... What i said. Breakfast was a coffee and croisant served at the bar but we had to wait a while for this 😞. Also due to corona the rooms will not be cleaned. If you wants new coffee capsules, towels, etc, you have to ask at the reception. We asked for new coffee capsules en hot the answer that it was only offered as welcoming.......after saying it was mentioned in the elevator we got some new ones. By the wat the location of the hotel is great. And as last. The lady of the reception asked us to pay an amount of money for the change of rate for the room. Although it was some euro’s we allready payed enough. Normally this weekend we should have payed about 150 euro......we payed 285 euro’s. So why should we pay the difference rate of the room. I give this hotel 3 out of five but it should have been 2,5. I don’t think i will visit this hotel again....
