MM19422****This guesthouse, truly a hidden gem, exceeded all my expectations. The owner was incredibly kind, and the shuttle driver was excellent too! The attention to detail throughout the guesthouse really left a lasting impression.
First, let's talk about cleanliness, which is always my top priority: stepping into the room, it felt bright and fresh. The floors were so clean they reflected light, and even under the bed and in sofa crevices, typically dust-prone areas, everything was spotless. There was none of that usual musty smell you often find in guesthouses. The bedding was freshly changed, carrying a subtle scent of sunshine. Disposable bath towels, regular towels, and slippers were neatly arranged, and there was even an instant hot water dispenser, which felt much safer and more reassuring than a traditional kettle.
As for the decor, it perfectly matched my aesthetic: not the over-the-top, influencer-style trend, but a warm design reflecting the owner's unique taste. The room featured woven rattan and solid wood furniture complemented by warm yellow lighting, with a few niche illustrations on the walls and beautiful green plants by the bedside. Every snapshot I took captured a moment of relaxed living.
The room's thoughtful layout made me feel as comfortable as if I were staying at a friend's house.
And the comfort level was outstanding: the mattress was just right, neither too soft that you sink in nor too hard that it feels uncomfortable. Waking up in the morning, I felt completely refreshed. At night, there was virtually no outside noise, and with the blackout curtains drawn tightly, even light sleepers could enjoy a peaceful night's rest.
What I want to praise most is the guesthouse owner. Upon arrival, they helped us get acquainted with the room's facilities, enthusiastically showed us a map of the ancient town, and recommended several great restaurants. Their genuine warmth wasn't a forced attempt to please, but rather a natural hospitality, as if welcoming a friend. I honestly didn't want to leave.
With its pristine environment, comfortable stay, and a guesthouse owner as friendly as family, the value for money is absolutely top-notch. If you're looking for a touch of warmth on your travels, this guesthouse should definitely be your first choice. I genuinely recommend it to everyone visiting this area!

I recently visited the ancient city and stayed at a truly amazing hotel. I absolutely have to recommend it to everyone!
🌆 Perfect Location: The hotel is right at the north gate of the ancient city, allowing you to explore the city as soon as you step out of the hotel. Popular attractions and food stalls are just a few minutes' walk away. This location is simply unbeatable, saving you a ton of time and energy.
👦 Superb Service: When I arrived at the north gate, the handsome front desk staff was already waiting for me. They not only helped me carry my luggage all the way to my room, but were also incredibly attentive. During check-in, they meticulously explained the room's amenities, hand-painted a food map of the surrounding area, and recommended many local specialties, which immediately helped me find my way around.
🏠 The Room and Courtyard Have an Antique Charm: Upon entering the hotel courtyard, a vibrant, ancient atmosphere washes over you. Every detail, from greenery and rockery to flowing water, exudes elegance. The room was even more surprising, with its wooden furniture and carved window lattices, it felt like a trip back to ancient times. The bed was perfectly firm, and the linens were clean and comfortable, making for a truly peaceful stay.
👘 Special Jin Dynasty Costumes for Young Lady Photography: I have to mention the hotel's Jin Dynasty Costumes for Young Lady Photography service. The costumes the hostess meticulously prepared were truly exquisite, both in fabric and workmanship, far superior to those rented on the street. The hostess herself was beautiful and welcoming. Not only did she help me choose the perfect outfit, she also did my makeup and hair herself. She was incredibly helpful during the photoshoot, so I didn't have to worry about any awkward moments. The photos I took were incredibly well-liked on my social media.
I was absolutely delighted with my stay. From the service to the ambiance, every detail was truly captivating. If you're planning a trip to the ancient city, I highly recommend this hotel; I'm sure you'll love it too!

AAnonymous UserWe had a great stay at the hotel, the room was as shown in the photos. The room was well equipped and very comfortable. It was a very relaxing environment. The hotel is in a historical building and has beautiful courtyard spaces which were nice to sit and read a book in. It's lovely and quiet there, we liked being further away from the town centre for the peace. However it does mean it's a 15min walk to the nearest restaurants and it is very dark and empty in the alleyways nearby at night. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay!

GGuest UserWe stayed at thos lovely hotel. Lovingly restored by the current owner Mr Wang. He is the 6th generation owner of the property.
Until 10 years ago it was a derelict and dilapidated building. He poured money, time, blood, sweat and tears to restore it
And it does feel and look like a traditional house.
You feel you are going back in time.
Firstly the customer service is way beyond the call of duty. Its so good, i would recommend staying with mr Wang at whatever hotel he runs.
He picked us at the Lower East Gate, and brought us to the hotel, then took nearly half an hour to explain in great detail where we need to visit, whether the sights be in the city or outside the city.
Some of his suggestions, not on the tour books were very good . For example he suggested 3 restaurants, and we avoided them thinking he was getting a kickback.on our 4th and last day we tried restaurant no 2 of his. And it was good , the food and service were good. The prices were average with other restaurants and we got a 10% discount being the hotel's guests. And remember we had eaten 10 meals by the time we came to his suggestions.
Another suggestion of Mr Wang was Ma family home - also a very good tip from him.
Everytime we had a request or question he always responded with enthusiasm.
On our last day we checked out at 4am and he still took us to the pick up point at that ungodly hour.
Yep Mr and Mrs Wang's customer service is just first class.
The room was large, queen deluxe double, and the furnishings were traditional chinese furniture made of Rosewood. Very Expensive furniture for a hotel room. Shower worked well and was hot. However be aware its chinese style wet floor system ie there is no shower curtain between the shower and a small part of the bathroom does get wet if youare not careful. MR Wang said it will be one his improvement on his priority list. Hopefully by the time you booked the problem will have been resolved
The hotel is very close to the main streets. About 5 min walk.
The city of pingyao is worth visiting, it is one of the very walled cities left in China, with its old buildings intact and people still living it. All the city walls are also intact. Magnificent at night.

PPanPivoI must highly recommend this wonderful hotel in the historic centre of Pingyao. The hotel is really authentic, well equipped, the room was beautiful and I didn't miss anything during my stay. The owner is very nice and helpful, he was able to help me with everything. The front desk is guarded by a small, beautiful dog who gives you a proper greeting. Everything is a short walk from the hotel yet it is in a quiet area where you won't be disturbed. Not choosing this hotel for my stay would be a big mistake. Thank you very much

Tento nádherný hotel v historickém centru města Pingyao musím vřele doporučit. Hotel je opravdu autentický, dobře vybavený, pokoj byl krásný a během pobytu mi nic nechybělo. Majitel je velmi milý a ochotný, se vším mi dokázal pomoci. Recepci hlídá malý, krásný pejsek, který vás náležitě přivítá. Vše je kousek od hotelu a přitom je v klidné oblasti, kde vás nebude nikdo rušit. Nevybrat si tento hotel pro svůj pobyt by byla velká chyba. Moc děkuji

GGuest UserThe guesthouse boasts an excellent location on South Street in the ancient city, next to ”Xietongqing” (a local entertainment venue), and very close to the city gate and the镖局 (security escort agency). The county government office is just a ten-minute walk away. There are many restaurants nearby, making dining convenient. The rooms are very clean, with automatic curtains, a smart toilet, good water pressure in the shower, and comfortable, clean bedding. Although located on a main street, the courtyard is secluded and extremely quiet.

The atmosphere is truly authentic—you feel like you've stepped back in time. It's the perfect base for exploring this charming city.
The rooms are clean and reflect the traditional style of the surroundings, adding to the overall charm. But what truly made our stay special was the staff: incredibly friendly and always willing to help. Despite the language barrier, they went out of their way to communicate with us, using translation apps and lots of patience. We felt genuinely welcomed.
All in all, highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and memorable stay in historic Pingyao!
