3-Star Hotels in Melbourne

I stayed in Box Hill motel between 3rd of Nov'23 - 5th of Nov'23. My husband and I arrived at Box Hill motel around 12-1pm. We were so exhausted as we took turn driving from Sydney - Melbourne. We drove from Sydney past midnight. Upon calling if we would be let in early, surprisingly it is allowed. Otherwise we would have slept in the car until check-in time if the room isn't ready yet. We got room no.1 and it was very clean. I didn't use the towel as I prefer to use my own towel, my husband also use his own towel. One of the hanging towel though had a snot on it and I put that towel aside despite we didn't use it. There were 3x plates in total and one of the plate was dirty and I assumed previous guest must have used this 1 plate and didn't wash it but instead just slipped it in between the clean plate. We used 2x plates for ourselves but I washed the 3x plates myself. Great Wifi speed too as I was able to complete a little bit of work from Room no.1. My parents always taught me to appreciate and respect people's places. Upon checking out, I saw Carol and OMG, she is so kind, friendly, down to earth and helpful. She was busy rolling people's luggage to their room. I remember my father always taught me the great businessman is not the one who always wanted to be served but the one who knew how to serve others first. There's a saying about ”servant leadership”. A great leader know how it feels to be at the bottom to observe, learn and serving others as well as better appreciate the top and experience various roles to understand the duties and responsibilities of each roles. THANK YOU Box hill motel team and Carol too for allowing us to stay at your beautiful clean and tidy place. We were able to sleep very soundly, hope nobody can hear us snoring :) I highly recommend Box Hill motel, Melbourne to anyone on a trip to Melbourne.

great location and facilities, but be prepared for significant noise both early in the morning and late at night. Be randomly arranged units in 889 or 883 Collins st. the noise situation seriously affects the stay. There are several construction sites nearby, and work starts around 7 a.m. every day. The drilling and machinery noise is very loud, making it difficult to sleep in. At night, the problem continues as car enthusiasts often race along the nearby roads, and the engine revving can be extremely disruptive.

I am extremely satisfied this time. The entire hostel with great location, the rooms, kitchen, and bathrooms—was perfectly clean. In particular, it's quite rare for hostels to have private bathrooms in the rooms, and they clean them every day. The beds also have their own power outlets and reading lights, and they are very spacious, so I slept really well throughout the whole trip. Everyone staying here is highly disciplined, maintaining a very quiet and peaceful environment at night. When a minor misunderstanding arose, the management responded and handled it immediately, which I truly appreciate. However, the training for the part-time staff could be slightly improved. Great value for money in a local motel. Neat and clean, hot shower with toiletries and hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities in the room, plenty of free parking.

We loved our stay at RNR apartments. The apartment was very quiet and had everything we needed for a week long stay. The amount of glasses, cutlery plates etc was perfect. The lady at the front desk was so helpful and funny. The room was very clean - we can’t fault it.  Washing machine in the room was so ideal! Less than a 10 min walk to the free tram zone.

Lovely vibes, cool chill areas, community bar and community events plus the staff especially the lovely guy who booked me in was Amazing. However it's a very crappy old building with Nil working properly showers and broken toilets. I had 1 night in a nice female room which I barely even saw as I was out and Tried to rest at a 2nd booking being shoved into a mixed smelly weird noisy dorm on a top bunk with ****** knocking on the door at all hrs, one guy snoring and another twat on the phone I told off. Was stressful and I hadn't a Warm shower in a working functioning bathroom in 2 days. Not returning. If you like noisy rude tourists and old buildings with no lift carrying your bags everywhere and no showers, great!

Pros: 1. location close to city 2. breakfast on site 3. free parking Cons: no reception staff at 8am or after 6pm, the notice on wall is to 7pm, have to wait 10 mins for staff to come from somewhere bit of unclean in detail but acceptable for the price

Room was exactly as described and with Cooktop, microwave, and fridge did not need take out all the time. Staff at front desk were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. May not be the flashiest hotel but it is great value for money and in a great location with a tram stop right outside the front doors, would recommend this hotel.

Perfectly good Hotel and one of the cheapest in the Dandenong area for sure..... yes its not perfect , this area of Melbourne has high crime thanks to ***** and foreigners from thrid world countries living there you can tell by just look at the terrible condition of the cars in the hotel car park . however its good enough and the room is fine so you cant complain

I arrived at Melbourne airport at 23:00 date of 23 April, 2026. I came at the front door of City Square Motel at around 1AM 24 April 2026, no one there, I could not open the glass door, I entered PIN 5922 on booking Trip.com sent me with no luck, and I tried to call the phone number in the glass for with no answer. I had to wait until there was 1 black man went out from the inside. I stepped in and met a 2nd men (white skin), I asked him some information then he went out. I took the key Room 212, and came to the Reception Desk, I suddenly read on the notice board the Motel recommend guest: PLEASE CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU SEE THIS PERSON IMMEDIATEL”: the man in the picture exactly was the 2nd white skin man I have just talked to, I was too scared and looked out the main gate, he was still standing there and stared at me for minutes. Feel not be safe when staying in City Square Motel, I decided to leave to find another safer place. I submitted this warning to you and ask for your help to refund the rest 3 nights to me due to not my fault in cancelling this staying.
