Hotels near Glebe Waterfront Walk, Sydney

Our previous trip staying in Novotel Sydney for 9 days was unpleasant as the room cleaning was always not done and have to constantly calling the housekeeper to send the staffs to clean it. This trip during the Hotel Check in , I’ve brought it up to the counter staff, and we don’t face the same issues like last trip. During our 7 days staying, 1st day hotel sent the complementary fruits/cheese platter to our rooms. And the most important that our both room was cleaned, towel changed, etc. out 1st nite, we have a splendid dinner at St Thomas Kitchen in the hotel. The steaks was nicely done, the side dishes and desserts was great ! Have ordered room service for burger and salad, tast good and food delivery was fast. Will stays there again for our next trip.

Clean hostel with friendly staff. Rooms were spacious with large lockers for each occupant and personal plugs and bed side lights in a great position. Showers/toilets on each floor and I never had to wait to use them. Downside is that you can hear the music from their basement club even on the 6th floor until late into the night. Didn’t bother me as I was only there a few nights and I managed to get enough sleep. Kitchen is WAY too small for amount of guests in the hostel. The social events put on by the hostel were a good way to meet people as a solo female traveller.

The location is unbeatable. It’s in the middle of CBD and only 10 min walk to circular Quay. We did not stay in the heritage room, instead, we chose the tower room. TBH, we expected nicer interior design. The furniture gave us an IKEA feel. Fullerton in both Singapore and HK is very nicely done. When we turned on the hot water for either shower or bath, it makes a screeching noise sometimes, which was not pleasant to hear. Anyway, the room is clean and the cleaning ladies were very nice and friendly. The breakfast was good too. Overall, the staff were really good!

We stayed for two nights at the end of May. Our room was quiet & clean even if in need of a refurbish, which presumably, going by the building works going on, is in progress. The building works didn't impinge on our stay at all. Our breakfast (which was included in our room rate), was surprisingly good. The area it was served in was very clean and bright. We found all the staff to be pleasant. Being able to checkin & checkout on line made things move quicker, especially the checkout. The cost of accommodation in the city is very high so we were pleased that Song Hotel was a bit more affordable to us.

I had high expectations of Capella Sydney after staying multiple times at Capella Bangkok and being treated as though I were the most important person in the hotel, just like all of the other guest who stay there are. The attention to service detail at Sydney location unfortunately failed very short to meet my expectations. The booking process on the website was glitchy and the pricing was inconsistent, sometimes showing pricing including tax sometimes not without indication and only upon receiving confirmation via email from reservations was the price confirmed, which did not match the screenshots of the reservation when I placed the booking so I had to go back and forth with reservations via phone and email to simply confirm the accurate pricing for my stay. After creating an account to log on to their booking platform although the option of modifying the booking was offered, the feature did not work on the site, so you had to cancel the booking and book a new booking if you simply wanted to extend by 1 day. This is before I even arrived at the hotel. When I did arrive, it is of course, no small feat that the restoration of this historic building was carried out with the utmost respect for the architecture, from the flooring material to the fenestration and even the internal grand stair way was brilliantly retro-fitted with current code requirements for the handrail in a historically appropriate yet contemporary solution. The hotel does not have many floors, so I encourage anyone to take the stairs to experience the beauty of the restoration work. The recognition of the strong identity of the urban location and sense of place in Sydney’s CBD offers us a promise, an encounter, as the space of the possible. I wish I could say the same about the interior design. There was a real disconnect between the intent of the architecture and that of the interior design. The decoration at best seemed vague, and so for the guest experience, how could one of have a point of view about the effect of the design? The space of the expectant “possible” relationship I was expecting from the simple activity of stepping into Farrer Place’s south entryway marked Department of Agriculture, as local stories interpreting colonial history with ancestral elements of the Eora people by Waayni artist Judy Watso unfolded, or the sense of expansive freedom through the bronze Palazzo doors on Loftus Street into the latent quiet luxury of the grand stair was lost when I was met with the contrasting designs and colours of the lift lobby vestibule axminster carpet and that of the corridor carpet to the guest rooms, able to be seen in the same frame. Although an argument can be made about eclecticism and the use of curating a collection of exceptional vintage and contemporary objects this was not the case here, it read as a mismatched bric-à-brac (to borrow a Victorian word from the building time period that's true meaning in French means ”any old way” or ”at random”). On the ambience side, the decor and modern-ish art was uplifting and fun. The room was very clean. But, we were surprised to find the room so small. In order for 2 people to get into the bed, one had to crawl over the other. The very small window sill became the nightstand. There was no room for luggage, and no luggage racks - we were told they didn’t have enough. That meant one suitcase on the floor and one on the very small plastic table. The retro-refrigerator was cool, but my traveling companion kept threatening to move it out into the hall to create some space in the room the whole time we were there. And then, the very small bathroom, the shower door doubled as the door to the bathroom. Have you ever looked into a microwave? The shower and the bathroom walls had the same dot matrix pattern as a microwave door. My companion was surprised to see while showering she could see me relaxing on the bed, and when she screamed “can you see me?” I replied “yes”. My companion now has bathroom-PTSD. Not only was the shower see through, there was a full-room-view sitting on the throne, trying to do your business. Then the realization somebody may be watching. PTSD! Our solution was to use the downstairs public bathroom for major activities. Did I mention IBS???

This is one of the most luxurious hostels you could stay in. It is beautifully designed, but in the dormitories they will never look like the photos unless you are the only one in there (or the other people staying in there are really tidy with their possessions!). This is the definition of the meme: expectation vs reality. The private room is incredible, it felt like a hotel room - just without an ensuite. Breakfast was fine, but disappointing. Beggars can't be choosers; but, why was there no fruit? Your options were tea and coffee, toast and cereal - that was about it. That staff were competent and helpful regarding matters of admin, but not as friendly and chatty as other hostels I have stayed in. Cleaning could be improved. Down the side of my dorm bed there were used Cotton Buds, tissues, and other detritus which was not pleasant when checking nothing had fallen down the side of my bed before checking out. The Goki experience was unique and modern, somewhat of a fan of that over keycards or keys. Overall pretty good, but don't expect the most social experience - if you are a solo traveller after making friends, there are better hostels I would recommend over this one. If you are travelling as a couple or with friends, this would be great.

Hands down worst nights sleep Ive ever had away from home. I arrived late from an interstate flight. The code I was given to get into the front door didn’t work. I tried half a dozen times. It was night, I was a solo small female and tbh I was starting to feel a little scared. Fortunately someone walked out of the building and let me in. The code to key collection worked and I went upstairs to my room. Now if u have heavy luggage this is not the place for you. Think European hotels with no lifts! Same same! The room itself was nice. Bathroom and toilet are not part of your room. It’s a seperate room. For everyone! Shared. That’s fine unless you get a case of bali belly! I guess this is all due to the age of the building. Renovated and lovely mind you. Problem I had is the bathroom was the door next to my bedroom and with a two inch gap under my door my room was excessively noisy with the opening and banging of all doors and especially the bathroom. That door was on constant rotation. Then I could hear the shower going. All up I think I got no more than 2-3 hours sleep. Only choice is bring ear buds or the hotel should provide them complimentary! Worst night sleep I’ve had in any hotel across the globe. Room was very clean, as were the amenities, staff seemed lovely. In daylight area felt fine. I suspect rather alternative and trendy bring a non Sydneysider myself. At the price and cleanliness I’d recommend but bring good quality ear buds!

Nightcap at Chester Hill Hotel demonstrates excellent reviews from numerous hotel guests. Upon our visit to the pub and entertainment floor at the ground level, the room's interior design was relatively unique and posh. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful, and well-trained, and they informed us accordingly about the covid restrictions. We want to give special thanks for an excellent demonstration of Ms. Yasmine's Hospitality. Thank you to Ms. Yasmin, who has been helpful and guided us with direction and amenities and gave us a warm welcome, and guaranteed our expectations and concern had been met. Her extraordinary and multinational people skills must be highlighted and recognized -it was a wonderful visit. For all travelers, we are recommended the Night Cap at Chester Hill hotel. Once again, genuinely appreciate the hotel team members, especially Ms. Yasmin. Keep up the good work, I will see you again next time.

This was our second stay at quest woolooware bay. The hotel is new, clean, fully equipped and couldn't be more convenient for a night at the footy. We've stayed in 2 different studio apartments, both with views and spacious. Cannot fault anything except for the air con/extraction vent being a bit on the noisy side and navigating the carpark on game day and up the steep ramps does require care and concentration. Not a deal breaker though! Definitely will stay again.
