The location was good if you are planning an early boat trip, as it is only a 2 minute walk away from the pier. But if you want to sleep in, you hear the boat horns as each one departs in the morning. Is is not walkable distance to the center, but a quick didi ride away only. My initial room that I booked (single room), despite being promoted as a non smoking room, smelled horrific when I entered. They immediately changed my room when I told them about it. The shower had mould stains, but I am assuming they might have been older stains as even my highly allergic nose did not have any trouble. I did not try the breakfast as I was looking for something with protein, but breakfast was included. I believe I saw boiled corn, steamed sweet potatoes and a type of bao bun. Not fully sure. When I had trouble renting ebikes without local ID, the staff were very helpful and spent 30 minutes handling it all for us. Was given slippers on arrival, but no toothbrush or toothpaste. The room had showergel and shampoo, but no handsoap. There was a bottle of slimey something in the bathroom, maybe that was handsoap, did not want to risk it. But overall, was a nice stay.

The hotel is beautiful, elegant, and quiet, with a fantastic location! It's located in the historic district of Dadou Road, just a short walk from the canal. There are plenty of small shops to browse in the beautiful surroundings. The breakfast is excellent, served directly to you with thoughtful care.

I recently stayed at China Courtyard · Mengxiyuan Hidden Hotel during the cherry blossom season, and my overall experience was a mix of good and bad. There were many pleasant surprises, but also areas that could use improvement, so I'll provide an objective review.

**Service and Facilities: High-end Standard, Thoughtful and Attentive**
The hotel's service was truly first-class, with butler-style care that was meticulous and thorough. Upon arrival, staff proactively helped with our luggage, carrying it all the way to the front desk and then to our room, without us having to lift a finger. The lobby's audio system was exceptional, with sound quality and staging that I'd rate as top-tier among all the high-end hotels I've stayed in.
The guest rooms were spacious and grand, with high-quality decor and furnishings. The blend of Song-dynasty garden style with modern smart amenities created a highly comfortable living environment.
Although the breakfast selection was simple, the quality far exceeded expectations. The freshly ground coffee was rich and aromatic, and the freshly made noodles were delicious. The ingredients were fresh, and the food was prepared with care. On the day we checked out, we had trouble getting a taxi, and a staff member kindly used their personal phone to call one for us. We only needed to reimburse the fare later. This level of thoughtful service truly went above and beyond, solving our immediate travel needs.

**Dining Shortcoming: Extremely Low Value for Dinner, Disappointing Experience**
The hotel's dinner experience was quite poor. Whether it's self-operated or outsourced, the value for money was severely lacking. Priced at 200 yuan per person, or 400 yuan for a couple's set meal, the quality of the dishes simply didn't match. The cooking was crude, the flavors bland like plain boiled water, and neither the presentation nor the taste met high-end hotel standards. This was completely inconsistent with the 3000 yuan per night room rate and was truly the biggest disappointment of our stay.

**Scenery and Photography: Stunning Cherry Blossoms, but Commercial Shoots Seriously Affect the Experience**
The hotel's garden scenery during cherry blossom season was absolutely breathtaking. The ancient architecture combined with the pink blossoms was a major highlight of our stay. However, as a high-paying guest, the photography experience was unsatisfactory. Popular photo spots in the garden were almost constantly occupied by commercial photography teams. A single shoot often took up more than ten minutes, forcing regular guests to wait for extended periods, and then only getting a second or two before having to move aside.
Paying 3000 yuan per night, our main purpose was to enjoy the cherry blossoms and take photos, but we were constantly obstructed by these commercial shoots. This inevitably caused displeasure. While commercial shoots are understandable, the hotel should better manage their time and designated areas to balance the experience for both commercial photographers and regular guests/tourists, preventing a small group from monopolizing public scenic resources for extended periods.

**Conclusion**
The hotel's facilities, service, and scenery are all of a high-end standard, making it an excellent choice for enjoying cherry blossoms and a secluded getaway in Hangzhou. If the hotel can improve the quality of its dinner offerings and better regulate commercial photography, the experience would be even more perfect. I look forward to revisiting after these improvements to enjoy an even more refined Song-dynasty hidden experience.

The location is superb, within a 30-minute radius of Hangzhou and an hour's drive to major attractions in Jiaxing, Shaoxing, Ningbo, and Huzhou. There are also plenty of tea shops and eateries nearby.

The hygiene is reliable; both the interior and exterior of the hotel are spotless and impeccably clean, which was a pleasant surprise.

The hotel facilities are comprehensive. The toiletries are high quality, breakfast is abundant, and laundry, gym, tea, and coffee services are all available. Plus, there's free parking with in-and-out privileges.

The service is warm and attentive. The front desk staff were friendly, gentle, thoughtful, and meticulous. They even delivered my laundered clothes to my room, which was very touching.

Words alone can't express how much I enjoyed my stay. I'll definitely be back for another experience!

A truly unique hotel! It's an old mansion with a vintage decor, and I loved being able to see the lush green scenery from my bed or while soaking in the tub – so relaxing. I arrived late at night, and the night staff member, Manman, was incredibly patient and attentive during check-in. The upgrade to a Deluxe Terrace Room was also a huge surprise! The breakfast was rich and delicious, offering both a Western all-day breakfast and mini wontons. What I found most captivating was that the entire hotel, inside and out, felt like a picturesque scene, truly enchanting. Next time I have the chance, I'd love to stay for a few more days, doing nothing but lounging on the terrace sofa, listening to the rain and birdsong, and simply unwinding. 

Now for a couple of minor points: the throw pillows in the room seemed like they needed a wash; they had a slight oily smell. Also, it's a common issue with old mansions, but you can hear creaking when people walk on the stairs. And the gentle background music that automatically plays in the room around 8-9 AM could be a minor drawback for light sleepers. However, these small imperfections don't overshadow the overall experience, and I'll definitely bring earplugs next time!

I specifically chose the off-season to bring my child to Chongming, and to my surprise, the experience was absolutely fantastic. It felt like we had the entire hotel to ourselves!

Environment and Atmosphere: The air was incredibly fresh, and the resort grounds were exceptionally quiet. Without the hustle and bustle of peak season, every stroll was a pure delight and very relaxing.

Activities and Experience: Even though there weren't many guests, the hotel's activity schedule wasn't cut back at all. The activities were rich and varied, and my child had so much fun they didn't want to stop.

Dining: I must praise the food – whether it was breakfast or other meals, the ingredients were incredibly fresh, allowing you to taste their natural deliciousness. It's not easy to find good food outside, so we ended up having all our meals at the hotel with the child. The breakfast portions were super generous, and while the main meals weren't cheap, the servings were truly ample.

Service: What was most heartwarming were the staff. Even with fewer guests, their enthusiasm didn't wane one bit. They were especially attentive to children, providing thoughtful and friendly service.

Overall, it was a stay that far exceeded our expectations. The whole family loved it, especially the little one, who is already looking forward to coming back.

The environment of the community is good, but the furniture in the room is a bit old, the sofa is torn, and the floor is peeling. The bathroom is so big, but the shower room is so small. It is difficult for a fat person to turn around. There are ants crawling in the bathroom. It is equipped as a B&B. There were very few things, including no laundry detergent. The suitcase had to be dragged along a relatively uneven decorative road, which was very inconvenient. The wheels were very worn and noisy. The security guy's service is better than that at the front desk. Not cost effective
