The hotel is conveniently located right next to the Dadou Road Historical and Cultural District, just outside the hotel door. It's clean and quiet, with an elegant and peaceful environment. It's also very close to Xiangji Temple and the subway station. I would definitely choose to stay here again next time I'm in Hangzhou.

The location was good if you are planning an early boat trip, as it is only a 2 minute walk away from the pier. But if you want to sleep in, you hear the boat horns as each one departs in the morning. Is is not walkable distance to the center, but a quick didi ride away only. My initial room that I booked (single room), despite being promoted as a non smoking room, smelled horrific when I entered. They immediately changed my room when I told them about it. The shower had mould stains, but I am assuming they might have been older stains as even my highly allergic nose did not have any trouble. I did not try the breakfast as I was looking for something with protein, but breakfast was included. I believe I saw boiled corn, steamed sweet potatoes and a type of bao bun. Not fully sure. When I had trouble renting ebikes without local ID, the staff were very helpful and spent 30 minutes handling it all for us. Was given slippers on arrival, but no toothbrush or toothpaste. The room had showergel and shampoo, but no handsoap. There was a bottle of slimey something in the bathroom, maybe that was handsoap, did not want to risk it. But overall, was a nice stay.

I recently stayed at China Courtyard · Mengxiyuan Hidden Hotel during the cherry blossom season, and my overall experience was a mix of good and bad. There were many pleasant surprises, but also areas that could use improvement, so I'll provide an objective review.

**Service and Facilities: High-end Standard, Thoughtful and Attentive**
The hotel's service was truly first-class, with butler-style care that was meticulous and thorough. Upon arrival, staff proactively helped with our luggage, carrying it all the way to the front desk and then to our room, without us having to lift a finger. The lobby's audio system was exceptional, with sound quality and staging that I'd rate as top-tier among all the high-end hotels I've stayed in.
The guest rooms were spacious and grand, with high-quality decor and furnishings. The blend of Song-dynasty garden style with modern smart amenities created a highly comfortable living environment.
Although the breakfast selection was simple, the quality far exceeded expectations. The freshly ground coffee was rich and aromatic, and the freshly made noodles were delicious. The ingredients were fresh, and the food was prepared with care. On the day we checked out, we had trouble getting a taxi, and a staff member kindly used their personal phone to call one for us. We only needed to reimburse the fare later. This level of thoughtful service truly went above and beyond, solving our immediate travel needs.

**Dining Shortcoming: Extremely Low Value for Dinner, Disappointing Experience**
The hotel's dinner experience was quite poor. Whether it's self-operated or outsourced, the value for money was severely lacking. Priced at 200 yuan per person, or 400 yuan for a couple's set meal, the quality of the dishes simply didn't match. The cooking was crude, the flavors bland like plain boiled water, and neither the presentation nor the taste met high-end hotel standards. This was completely inconsistent with the 3000 yuan per night room rate and was truly the biggest disappointment of our stay.

**Scenery and Photography: Stunning Cherry Blossoms, but Commercial Shoots Seriously Affect the Experience**
The hotel's garden scenery during cherry blossom season was absolutely breathtaking. The ancient architecture combined with the pink blossoms was a major highlight of our stay. However, as a high-paying guest, the photography experience was unsatisfactory. Popular photo spots in the garden were almost constantly occupied by commercial photography teams. A single shoot often took up more than ten minutes, forcing regular guests to wait for extended periods, and then only getting a second or two before having to move aside.
Paying 3000 yuan per night, our main purpose was to enjoy the cherry blossoms and take photos, but we were constantly obstructed by these commercial shoots. This inevitably caused displeasure. While commercial shoots are understandable, the hotel should better manage their time and designated areas to balance the experience for both commercial photographers and regular guests/tourists, preventing a small group from monopolizing public scenic resources for extended periods.

**Conclusion**
The hotel's facilities, service, and scenery are all of a high-end standard, making it an excellent choice for enjoying cherry blossoms and a secluded getaway in Hangzhou. If the hotel can improve the quality of its dinner offerings and better regulate commercial photography, the experience would be even more perfect. I look forward to revisiting after these improvements to enjoy an even more refined Song-dynasty hidden experience.

The location is superb, within a 30-minute radius of Hangzhou and an hour's drive to major attractions in Jiaxing, Shaoxing, Ningbo, and Huzhou. There are also plenty of tea shops and eateries nearby.

The hygiene is reliable; both the interior and exterior of the hotel are spotless and impeccably clean, which was a pleasant surprise.

The hotel facilities are comprehensive. The toiletries are high quality, breakfast is abundant, and laundry, gym, tea, and coffee services are all available. Plus, there's free parking with in-and-out privileges.

The service is warm and attentive. The front desk staff were friendly, gentle, thoughtful, and meticulous. They even delivered my laundered clothes to my room, which was very touching.

Words alone can't express how much I enjoyed my stay. I'll definitely be back for another experience!

The service was very thoughtful, but the hotel maintenance was terrible. I didn't like that green mirror, it was a bit creepy. The lights at night were extremely dim (not even atmospheric, just dark). The room was filled with cheap metal designs. I liked the balcony, but not the balcony sofa. The courtyard had solar lights, so if there was no sun, the courtyard would be completely dark at night. Apparently, it was designed by a celebrity, but it's really nothing special – to each their own, I guess. It felt dirty everywhere... (These are just my personal opinions, whoever argues wins.)

This is our fourth stay at Donghe Jiugu in recent years, and each time feels like coming home – so reassuring and warm. The kids especially adore it and always look forward to coming back! 

We checked in on 'Xiao Nian Ye' (the Minor New Year's Eve), and the hotel was beautifully decorated for the ***** New Year, creating an incredible festive atmosphere. In the evening, they thoughtfully arranged a bonfire party and a fireworks show. On ***** New Year's Day morning, there were traditional activities like wishing balloon releases and making 'Niangao' (rice cakes), full of festive charm and ceremony. The kids had so much fun they didn't want to stop.

The dining remains consistently excellent, with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. Our whole family loved the new dishes they added. The room, as always, was clean and tidy, and the underfloor heating made our winter stay incredibly cozy. Coincidentally, our check-in day was Valentine's Day, and the room had thoughtful touches like red roses, wine, fruit, and snacks – perfect attention to detail that the kids absolutely loved.

Donghe Jiugu has a unique charm in every season; vibrant in spring and warm in winter. We're already looking forward to our spring trip! I genuinely recommend it to any family who loves rustic charm and seeks a warm, cozy experience.

The price/performance ratio is very high. The accommodation environment is much better than hotels in the same price range. The lady at the front desk is also very enthusiastic and worth recommending. The environment is elegant. You can drink tea in the front desk rest area. There are many roses in the community and they are beautiful. You can enjoy it here. The racing heart gets a moment of peace. May we all live the way we like.
