Hotels near Honmachi Park, Kyoto

The location was right beside Kyoto station and easily accessible. The room was spacious and with a smart TV?! Major win. There’s even a separate laundry room and dryer and sauna their customers can use. They also provided baggage storage when the room is not ready yet. Even after checking out, they allowed us to leave our baggage with them to go get a quick bite before heading to the airport. Great service and vibes. Will definitely book this hotel again for my next trip!

We chose this hotel due to itsʻ location and it exceeded our expectations! The hotel staff was helpful and provided information in Japanese and English. We stayed for 13 days and were impressed with the hotelʻs determination to provide us with clean rooms, towels and other items. This hotelʻs location at Shijo/Karasuma made it easy to get to train stations, bus and the subway. There were also many excellent restaurants and shopping possibilities. One of the features we appreciated a lot was the laundry. We also appreciated that it was quiet.. didnʻt even hear people in the halls or doors close. Having lived in Kyoto for a long time, this was our first time to stay in a hotel and would recommend it for sure.

You have still walk some distance from the JR station, but there are many shops and restaurants under the railway bridge to entertain you. The room was said to be renovated in 2023 and I am not really impressed. The room is comfortable and quiet (facing the inside garden) and the breakfast is good (use the French restaurant - the other restaurant is not as good and I did not try the Japanese breakfast this time), staff are willing to help.

Nice business hotel located near Kyoto station. The hotel provides shuttle service to Kyoto station which makes it very convenient for those with kids and big luggages.

This hotel is located right near the intersection of Shijo Horikawa. I checked in at midnight, but the front desk was kind and I was able to respond without a disgusting face. The room was clean and the amenities were substantial, and there was a USB port for charging, which was very helpful. However, probably because it was a premise to use a large communal bath, there was only a shower booth in the room. It may be a negative for those who want to slowly soak in the bathtub in the room. Personally, I was happy with the large communal bath, so there was no problem at all. It was also good that the transportation was convenient. From the Shijo Horikawa bus stop, you can go not only to Kyoto Station, but also to famous tourist spots such as Kinkakuji, Kiyomizu-dera, Toji, Nijo Castle, Arashiyama, and you can go to Gion and downtown Kawaramachi without changing trains. You will need to change trains once, but you can also go to Nanzenji Temple and Ginkakuji Temple. If you walk a little, you will find Hankyu Omiya Station and Arashiden Shijo Omiya Station, and it is very accessible for sightseeing or business. There is a Family Mart just south of the hotel, and there are 7-Eleven ahead, so you don't have to worry about a little shopping. The accommodation fee was reasonable and it is a recommended hotel.

We had a delightful stay at Hotel Pagong with M's in Kyoto. Although the room was compact, it was perfectly adequate for two guests. The service was consistently kind and attentive. The hotel's location is excellent, with a convenient 15-minute walk to Nishiki Market and both a 7-Eleven and Family Mart less than a block away. We highly recommend this hotel for its comfort, friendly service, and prime location.

The Okura Okazaki Bettie is a beautifully designed modern hotel and was the perfect choice for our combined business/leisure visit to Kyoto. The location was reasonably close (short taxi ride) to excellent restaurants and sights in the culturally historic area east of the river. The guest room quality, cleanliness and comfort is excellent - finished to a high standard with large windows overlooking the garden below and temples beyond. Breakfast was served in the restaurant overlooking the hotel's own zen garden. The choice of either ”Kyoto”or ”American” breakfast was amazing, beautifully presented bento style, exceptionally fresh, plentiful and delicious. Indeed this was one of the best hotel breakfasts ever. Finally the service level is exceptional. Both management and staff did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and hassle free. Neither the most nor least expensive option in Kyoto - just simple great value. We look forward to returning next time.

When visiting Kyoto, we wanted to enjoy some time in an onsen resort so we decided to spend two nights in Ogoto Onsen. After checking the details in their website, we booked a ”Biwa no kaze”room with private onsen and view of Lake Biwako. And we were not disappointed. The room looks newly renovated, and is very spacious with two beds and sitting area plus a tatami room. They offer different dinner packages, and we have chosen crab with steak as the main dishes for the first night, and lobster with shabu-shabu the second night. The foods were of very high quality, tasted and looked very nice. The breakfast buffet was very good with a wide selection of different items. The ryokan is excellent in nearly all aspects. We would stay here again when we next visit Kyoto.

Stayed at Youzanso during late March 2023. It was during the cherry blossom season. We (family of four) had the room with the Lake Otsu view and private bath. The room was sufficient for 4 of us but I wouldn't call it spacious. However, the room and bathroom were clean. The room came with dinner and breakfast for 4 of us and costed about AUD800. The dinner and breakfast was quite good and would recommend to anyone considering the half board. It might get old if u were staying for few days but we were only there for one night. We toured Kyoto for the day and stayed here overnight then went back to kyoto for more sightseeing. It wasn't as convenient as if you stayed in Kyoto but the travel wasn't long or difficult. The property is bit dated and looks more like a hotel than a ryokan. The facilities are clean but also look dated as well. However, the public onsen is great, clean and the outdoor bath is a must. I stayed in this hotel several times before the epidemic. It is more than ten minutes' drive from Kyoto Station and a small square from JR Kusatsu Station. For people who are tired from a day's travel, it is more convenient than hotels in Kyoto with inconvenient transportation. I chose this hotel again for my first trip to Kansai after the epidemic. I bought a Kansai Wide Area Tour Pass and it is not a problem to stay here and go anywhere. Although the facilities are not modern, the room area is large enough, and the service and catering of the old-fashioned hotel give people a good feeling.
