"A rather mediocre experience. I've been a Ctrip member for 15 years and rarely leave bad reviews, so I'll give this a passing grade of 3.0. The main reasons for the average experience were: 1. My baby had a fever in the middle of the night and couldn't get up the next day. I wanted to take some breakfast back to the room, but they wouldn't allow it, and the staff's attitude was quite stiff. At over 1700 RMB for two nights for three adults and one child, the price wasn't cheap. Since the hotel couldn't be understanding towards me, I can't be understanding towards them in my rating. 2. There must be floor heating or central air conditioning, because the room was extremely dry, even drier than indoors in Beijing during the heating season."

"My child absolutely loved this room! Besides being spacious, it was incredibly well-equipped. They even provided free earplugs and makeup remover wipes, not to mention complimentary tricycles and bicycles for exploring the ancient city. It was very quiet at night, making for a peaceful sleep. And the front desk staff? Their service was exceptional – truly made our stay comfortable and pleasant. The breakfast, served on a street in the ancient city, was just a few hundred meters away."

"The hotel is a short distance from Datong Ancient City, walkable or bikeable. A taxi costs only 7 yuan. The surrounding area isn't great for walking, so I don't particularly recommend it. The breakfast restaurant is small, and the variety of options is average, not very extensive. The room facilities are also just okay; the bath towels and toilet paper are of very poor quality, not fitting for a Hilton-branded hotel. I hope this can be improved. There also seemed to be an issue with the room's electricity, it was intermittent, and the charging port on the outlet wouldn't charge my data cable properly – perhaps unstable voltage? I didn't investigate further as I was checking out soon. Honestly, this trip wasn't as perfect as I'd hoped, and it wasn't just the hotel. Overall, the service level feels a bit behind first-tier cities, and there's a lot of room for improvement compared to other tourist cities. However, the cultural landscape of Datong is absolutely stunning: the Hanging Temple, Mount Heng, the Ancient City, the Grottoes, Huayan Temple… every single one is unforgettable. In summary, I hope Shanxi continues to improve."

"Before booking, I was most concerned about the air conditioning, and I finally got to experience it firsthand. Datong's heating supply runs until April 15th, a full month later than Tianjin. During the heating period, the hotel's air conditioning only provides heat, not cool air. So, contrary to what many online reviews suggested, I couldn't use the AC to cool the room and had to rely on opening the windows to alleviate the heat. However, I couldn't keep the windows open while sleeping, which left me feeling very dry and uncomfortable when I woke up. The first night of my stay was the second day of the Qingming holiday. When I showered that evening, the water pressure from the showerhead was pitifully low, so I had to make do with the handheld spray. Thankfully, the bathtub's water temperature was reliable. By the second night, with a drop in occupancy, both the breakfast service and the shower pressure were much better. The swimming pool is open from 6 AM to 9 PM. I feel it opens too early and closes too early. Wouldn't 8 AM to 11 PM be better? The hotel lobby is very spacious. Since Fenlin Pavilion is located in the Wyndham lobby, the Yungang side actually feels more upscale and grand. Fenlin Pavilion stops issuing numbers before 7:30 PM and closes at 9 PM. For lunch, they're open until 2 PM. Commercial facilities in Datong really aren't that competitive. There's no sliding door between the room's bathtub and the bed, so privacy is nonexistent. The omnipresent crystal chandeliers and mirrors give off a somewhat 'Middle Eastern prince' vibe. The sensor-activated nightlights near the floor get a hundred stars – they're incredibly convenient for midnight bathroom trips. Even a coffee machine and a refrigerator are provided. The breakfast's 'dao xiao mian' (knife-cut noodles) are a specialty, and the coffee is good. However, the dessert selection is meager, with only one or two options."

"This hotel's industrial-chic design creates a sophisticated and unique ambiance. The concrete floors and minimalist layout are truly striking, making every photo opportunity Instagram-worthy. Inside the room, the tatami bed with a soft mattress is a highlight. The bathroom features a dry/wet separation and is immaculately clean with no strange odors, and all toiletries are individually packaged, showing great attention to detail. The front desk offers a complimentary 'treasure chest' of essentials like makeup remover and razors. With shopping centers and parking readily available nearby, it's convenient whether you're driving or using public transport."

"I stumbled upon this hotel and my experience was absolutely fantastic. The overall decor is stylish and creates a wonderful ambiance. My room had a great view, was beautifully furnished, and paid attention to every detail. The cleanliness was impeccable; everything was spotless, and the bedding was soft and skin-friendly, making for an excellent night's sleep. The staff were friendly and provided thoughtful, attentive service, making me feel very welcome. The surrounding scenery and amenities are also great, perfect for a leisurely stroll. From the environment and service to the facilities, I couldn't find a single flaw. I had a truly pleasant stay and it's definitely on my re-book list!"

"Stepping into Datong Ancient City in the afternoon, the first pleasant surprise was stumbling upon Renyi Inn. The inn's antique courtyard, adorned with carved beams and painted rafters, and warm red lanterns, instantly brought a sense of calm. The family who runs the inn is incredibly humble and kind, their conversations warm and thoughtful, making you feel right at home. What's even more admirable is their exceptional care for animals; the inn is like a mini-zoo. They treat every little creature with gentleness and patience, which in turn fills the entire courtyard with life and spirit. Upon entering, a majestic grey parrot, both poised and lively, greeted me from the front desk – I'd never seen such a large pet parrot before! Two smaller parrots chirped happily nearby, completely unafraid of strangers, lively and adorable. Outside my room was a small courtyard with two tea tables. After a 'special forces'-style day of temple hopping, when I was tired to the point of tears, sitting there enjoying a cup of tea was incredibly relaxing. In the adjacent fish pond, a dozen or so vibrant koi, each weighing at least two to three pounds, swam gracefully, their bodies stretching elegantly. Next to the pond, a large and a small tortoise slowly ambled, quiet and therapeutic. In a corner cage, a tiny grey squirrel darted around, agile and playful. As dusk fell, watching the lights reflect on the pond and listening to the soft sounds of the small animals, the weariness of travel seemed to melt away in this gentle atmosphere, leaving my heart filled with peace and healing. I thought this wonderful experience was complete, but to my surprise, a new delight awaited me the next morning – two peacocks, 'Wenqing' (blue and white) and 'Xiaofeng' (emerald green), strolled leisurely in the courtyard with their magnificent tails fanned out – yes, they even have names! The eye-spots on their tail feathers shimmered, as if they were wearing the entire starry sky, beautiful like something straight out of an ancient painting. For a moment, I couldn't tell if I was in an inn or a secret wonderland. Renyi Inn is far more than just a place to stay; it's a hidden gem within the ancient city. The harmonious coexistence of people and animals creates a warm and healing atmosphere, adding countless gentle and delightful moments to this journey."

"Found a very comfortable hotel, very close to the attractions, convenient travel, parking in front of the door, many restaurants around, the stay experience is super good, the front desk sister is very polite, the big bed sleeps softly, the night is very quiet, the room is clean and tidy as a whole, Get up early and go to the backyard pavilion to breathe fresh air. It is very pleasant. The summer in Datong is very cool. I will stay next time!"

"This hotel is truly luxurious and conveniently located in the new city. It's my top choice when visiting Datong, as it's not far from the ancient city, museums, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, and other attractions. Downstairs, you'll find Fengling Pavilion, where the shaomai (steamed dumplings) are absolutely delicious. During my stay in Datong, I found the local people to be incredibly kind! I highly recommend everyone to visit Datong at least once if they get the chance, to experience the Northern Wei dynasty's charm."

"I chose Nan She for both of my trips to Datong, spaced about twenty days apart. The first time was by chance, but the second was a deliberate choice, both reflecting my high appreciation for every aspect of Nan She. It's located right beneath the North City Wall of the ancient city, close to Daiwang Mansion and Kuixing Tower. Its proximity to the main road makes getting around very convenient. The entrance to the North City Wall is just a few minutes' walk away, offering a superb spot to watch the sunset over the ancient city. The breakfast at the guesthouse is absolutely delicious. The rooms are spotless, and the bedding is clean; every detail is perfectly executed. The overall service is beyond words – attentive, warm, and thoughtful. Choosing the right accommodation is a crucial part of enhancing the travel experience, and both of my stays here provided an excellent one. Datong is a city you'll want to revisit; the more you get to know it, the more you'll love it. The blend of history and modernity, delicious food, and beautiful scenery offers endless appeal.
