"Located inside the Datong old city, the inn itself is a historic building and has a history of its own. There are many interesting decors to look at in the property. The location is excellent and nearby some very good restaurants. It has a laundry room with 2 washers and 1 dryer which are very important in my opinion.The room was very nice, the cleanliness was very good and kept in very good condition. Although there was no rotating menu for the buffet breakfast each morning, the food is good and there's also beef/lamb offal rice noodles on request. The best parts about the hotel are the staff and service. They were extremely welcoming and friendly. I usually get disappointed by restaurant recommendations by hotel staff but all the restaurants recommended were excellent and not overly expensive. They could help you make a reservation (those restaurants get super busy on weekends and holidays) as well if you don't speak Chinese. We had to check out really early on the last day and the staff promptly packed us some eggs and bread for breakfast even though we didn't request it the night prior. I'm sure if you request it the day/night before, they'll be able to pack you something more substantial. I don't normally leave reviews but this property was worth my time."

"The staff were so so friendly and super nice!!! Told them it was our honeymoon and there was a handwritten note with fruits and snacks waiting for us on the table. They didn't have to, but they did ☺️ when we left, we were rushing for the train and didn't have time to eat breakfast. The staff were so concerned we were skipping breakfast she quickly packed some food for us to go and even ran after us to pass us cutlery because she forgot to pack some. Would recommend staying here 10/10!"

"The room was incredibly spacious, and since there weren't many guests, they even upgraded our room! We had an amazing view, and the air conditioning was perfectly comfortable. Although the facilities are a bit older, they are very well-maintained. My girlfriend was really happy with our stay too. The service was exceptional; they even put card sleeves on our IDs during check-in, delivered hot water, and provided welcome fruit. The breakfast had a great variety, and the restaurant food was surprisingly delicious! Overall, it was a first-class experience. We'll definitely be back and will recommend it to our friends and family!"

"The hotel's location is great, situated in the Old Town's accommodation area. The facilities are brand new, and you can even order takeout directly to the hotel. Plus, there's a scooter rental right next door, which is super convenient. The front desk staff was fantastic; a young lady personally escorted me to my room, and her service attitude was excellent. They even gave me a small souvenir when I checked out, which I really appreciate. The only minor drawback is that the soundproofing isn't the best; you can hear conversations in the hallway quite clearly."

"This was my second stay at Jianguo Hotel Yungang, and it was quite satisfying. The front desk saw my room preferences (non-smoking, quiet) and provided a room that met my expectations, which was great! The breakfast selection was as plentiful as ever. This time, there were a lot of guests, so they opened up several additional dining areas. Even with more people getting food, the supply was very timely. The late-night congee service was also a thoughtful touch; Xiao Zhang and Xiao Hu, who were in charge, were diligent and quick, refilling items promptly. When they had a free moment, they even chatted with guests, which felt very warm and welcoming. On the last day, before checking out, I noticed they were paving asphalt and filling potholes outside the entrance. This was tough for the several couples getting married that day – it was hard for cars to get in, and the newlyweds had to get out of their cars and enter the hotel while enduring the black smoke from the asphalt. I hope the hotel can consider local customs and feelings, and schedule such construction for a different time. Before I left, I noticed a super-sized croissant on the in-room dining menu, which piqued my interest. It looked like sliced hua mo (steamed flower bun). I'll have to see the real thing next time, haha!"

"I happened to choose this hotel while on a business trip to this city, and the experience far exceeded my expectations! The room was simply yet cozy, with high-quality wooden furniture and thoughtful touches like green plants and decorative flowers in a small corner by the window. The bedding was soft and comfortable against my skin, and I slept soundly until I naturally woke up – so relaxing! The bathroom had a separate shower and toilet, the facilities were clean and new, the hot water was plentiful and the water pressure was stable, and the wash area was practically designed. The natural light was amazing; the large windows flooded the room with sunlight, brightening my mood. With such great value for money, I'll definitely stay here again next time!"

"After comparing several hotels, I finally chose the Holiday Inn Datong, and my two-day stay confirmed it was the right decision. I'd say it's an international chain hotel with great value for money in Datong. The location is excellent, about a 10-minute drive from the high-speed rail station and 20 minutes by taxi to the ancient city, making transportation very convenient. The hotel offers a dedicated shuttle service, a value-added perk that's hard to find at most hotels. When I arrived, it was a Toyota business van, and for my return trip to the station, it was a Toyota urban SUV – a fantastic experience! The hotel's exterior design is pleasing to the eye. I believe both the architectural style and the choice of interior decorative materials and color scheme are top-notch. It's not extravagant, but its understated elegance can impress guests from all walks of life. The lobby is tall and spacious, with elegant and refined colors, giving it a beautiful and grand feel. The front desk staff were very friendly. My room was arranged on the 12th floor in a prime location. The room layout was simple and bright, and the decor maintained the InterContinental Hotels Group's consistent style of understated luxury. The bedding was just the right firmness, and everything was clean and comfortable. The drinking water supply also met guests' needs. Breakfast was excellent; in addition to the usual Western pastries, it really highlighted local Datong specialties like authentic knife-cut noodles and lamb offal soup, which were highly praised by diners. Overall, I was very satisfied with the dining, accommodation, transportation, and comprehensive service during this trip. I look forward to choosing this hotel again if I have the chance to return."
