"The famous Q1 Apartment Hotel, though a bit old, is quite well-maintained. This room type features a large bedroom facing the sea, and two small spa beds, feeling spacious enough for 3-4 people. The location is superb, right next to the Surfers Paradise light rail, conveniently close to restaurants, cafes, and supermarkets. It's a 5-minute walk to the beach, and the entrance to the Q1 SkyPoint Observation Deck is right downstairs. The Gold Coast on a good day is absolutely stunning! The in-room facilities are complete, but the service attitude and efficiency are average; late check-out isn't an option. However, for this price and location, I can't really ask for more."

"This hotel offers really great value for money. I added breakfast to my stay, and while it was pretty standard, it had everything you'd expect, which was very convenient. The location is fantastic. It's a 5-minute walk to the beach, and about 900 meters to the commercial street where there are plenty of dining options. Plus, it's right outside the train station, so super easy to get to. Being able to check in early and check out late was a huge help for my early morning flight. I didn't use the swimming pool, but it looked nice. The gym was good though, with all the necessary equipment. I'd definitely choose this hotel again for my next vacation."

"We have been coming for many years ... we don't use the lift on Friday nights/Saturdays so we always ask for a ground floor. This year, we arrived to find that we had been put on 2nd floor but the reception staff had already looked up online and found that our ”lift” restrictions were only Fri / Sat so when we checked in, they advised us that we're on 2nd floor but not to worry. they will move us to a ground floor apartment on Fri. They REALLY mean that they would move us! We packed everything except for the fridge/freezer on the Fri morning, went out for some hours and came back in the afternoon and in the intervening period, they came, moved all of our stuff for us into the ground floor apartment and even placed the fridge/freezer items and our reading material into the identical spots in the ground floor apartment! Hassle free for us. Not only that, but the friendly guy at reception said that he had also discovered online that we don't use automatic doors on our Sabbath. In all the years I had never mentioned this as we wait patiently for someone going in/out and accompanied them. He said that we didn't have to do that anymore. We could use an emergency exit door and he'll disable the alarm. We are super impressed by the customer service ... even looking up things about our religious/cultural requirements and preempting issues. If there is any negative, I note that the WiFi is very slow. That's it!"

"We arrived at the hotel at 11 PM. We had booked two rooms. A female staff member at the front desk helped us extend our stay in the original room type. However, during check-in, we found one room was on the 16th floor and the other on the 5th, which was inconvenient for looking after an elderly family member traveling with us. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked, so a room change wasn't possible. The front desk staff advised us to check out of room 505 by 10 AM the next day, store our luggage at the front desk, and then move to room 1604 after 2 PM. After checking in, we realized that checking out of one room at 10 AM would disrupt our family's rest, so we went back to the lobby to negotiate keeping the original rooms without switching. A new shift had started, and a male manager in the lobby along with two front desk staff members repeatedly checked the system. The manager on duty sternly and rigidly informed us that we had only booked for one day and had to check out tomorrow, stating there was no information about an extended stay. It was quite embarrassing and frustrating, so we immediately tried to re-book an extension in the lobby. The hotel refused to process the extension and, in front of us, the front desk manager refused to answer calls from Ctrip customer service. At 12:48 AM, a Ctrip customer service representative used my phone to try and negotiate with the front desk manager, but to no avail. Our request was simple: to extend our stay in the original rooms without changing. Ctrip customer service was very helpful, informing us they would email the hotel's housekeeping department by 9:00 AM the next day, explaining our need to extend in the same rooms. At 10:00 AM the next morning, hotel housekeeping woke up our entire family, asking us to check out. We informed them of our request to extend in the original rooms, and after that, the hotel didn't contact us again. We are extremely grateful for Ctrip customer service's excellent assistance in the middle of the night. Despite the cold, rigid, and unyielding attitude of the hotel's front desk manager, Ctrip actively advocated for our rights, and for that, we are very thankful!"

"Having stayed at several other hotels since, I can confidently say this one is still the best. The room has everything you need for living and cooking. There's a shop nearby. We happily cooked steaks almost every day. The view from the window is beautiful, and it's only on the 13th floor. The elevators are silent and super-fast. Remember, this is an apart-hotel, so cleaning isn't daily. Our room was cleaned once during our 5-night stay, which was generally sufficient. If you accumulate trash, there's a special room with bins on each floor. The soundproofing is decent. The reception quickly resolves any issues, and you can store your luggage there. We arrived late, and I was worried about being met and checked in, so I messaged the hotel in advance, but it turned out there were plenty of other late arrivals like us at 11 PM. The rooms provide shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion from the excellent Australian brand Kevin Murphy. On the 5th floor, there's an indoor and outdoor heated pool, a sauna, and a gym. The hotel's location is ideal. There's a tram stop right behind it, and the main shopping center is a 5-minute walk away. All in all, we were satisfied. We'd love to come back here."

"Excellent location, right across from the beach. Stunning views from the window, couldn't ask for better! I had a renovated room, which was clean and tidy. The kitchen had all the necessary equipment and utensils. They allowed me to pay the deposit in cash, and there were no issues with getting it back. The jacuzzi and pool are open until 9:30 PM, which is great for relaxing after a long day. Parrots even came to visit my balcony! 😍 For my travel dates, this was the cheapest option in Gold Coast, and I'm so glad I chose this hotel."

Party goers, police sirens last till around 4am on a Friday night. Room Large rooms but quite dark. There's only 1 downlight at the entrance , a floorlamp and 2 bedside lights. "The location is super convenient, with a Woolworths supermarket nearby and close proximity to the station. I especially loved the table outside the kitchen; it was so pleasant to eat outdoors when the sun was out. You need to leave your passport as a deposit to borrow a hairdryer, and the front desk seems to close at 7 PM, so you have to return it before then. The bed design is unique compared to other hostels. Although there are no curtains, it still offers a good level of privacy. Regarding soundproofing, you can hear the pool party outside, but everyone usually disperses at night, so it doesn't get too noisy. There are lockers in the room for storing your belongings, and you can store your luggage for free after check-out."

"Location is convenient, staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and good size. Downsides were street noise was ridiculous. It's like there's no walls or something. Mirrors. Oh my god. Every wall has a massive mirror. Impossible to look in a direction without seeing yourself from multiple angles. Enough mirrors to make anyone uncomfortable. Car park set up is pretty dumb. Have to go on the opposite side of the driveway to gain entry and then when you exit the button to leave is in the middle of the car park, then rush to the exit before the door closes."

"Location: on the southern end of Surfer's Paradise, the quieter end, just behind the Q1. General notes: it is NOT a hotel. It's a serviced apartment. Put it into context & you'll be fine. The location is convenient. There's free resident parking. The staff are polite & professional. Club Wyndham is a time share operation, which they will try to gently push for. Thank you Felipe! There is a cafeteria onsite which serves breakfasts & meals on a schedule. The parking is free which is a remarkable bonus. There's free WiFi. 3 lifts service all floors and are generally efficient given the 17-18 floors. As of 2026 May, there are major renovation works being carried out, which shows they care, but do expect construction noise during your stay until it's complete. They should be more upfront about it to avoid upsetting the easily outraged customer, I felt. SO BEWARE!! Do check with them before you book Rooms: as a rented apartment block, more akin to Airbnb with a reception, do expect that each unit will vary in furniture & fittings, so be wary of the bad reviews as in general not all units are the same. From an objective perspective, the unit was well appointed & functional to a moderately good level. Just don't expect 4 star hotel level finishings. But it's good enough on the whole. There's air conditioning that works well, a large screen TV, kitchenette with cutlery & tableware, and a dishwasher, fridge & microwave. There's a washing machine & dryer as well, for the clothing. The sofas are comfortable & clean. There's a balcony which, if ocean facing, are ideal for the sunsets and smokes. Read: great views! The TV provides the usual terrestrial channels as well as a Club Wyndham cable like channel tv with a reasonably wide selection of video movies. There is a nice complimentary selection of tea bags, coffee & chocolate powder provided. Rooms: the single beds are rather narrow & small, but adequate. Not the best I've experienced, but good enough. The mattresses are very comfortable, soft & plush, not hard. The pillows are also very comfortable. The only thing missing in the room was the inadequate provision for clothes hangers & racks. Baffling to not provide clothes hangers in the wardrobe cupboard. Inexplicable. There's a small TV screen provided in the bedrooms too & an individual air-conditioning control console for the bedroom itself. Bathrooms: generally clean and adequate. All the usual soaps & moisturizers provided. No toiletries are included though. So do bring along your own toothbrushes & shavers. There are plugs for the electric shavers. The complete set of fluffy towels are provided. The shower is not a rain shower but just a shower head. Hot water takes a short while to heat up & The showering Is generally a good experience. Based on my limited experience, it's a good place for a short stay, with the free parking tipping the balance in its favor for most, though for long stays I'm not sure how efficient they will be in providing for extra towels, toilet paper, cleaning services, etc. Though on the surface, they do appear to be up to the task. Again, I would ask about this if you're staying for more than 3 days. Do also check about the renovation noise during the day! Addendum: There's a great Indian restaurant (Delhi Darbar) & a very popular Italian restaurant just downstairs. Also a good Japanese restaurant (Osaka) just opposite."

AAnonymous UserI specifically booked a twin sea-view room because I didn't want an apartment-style stay. Ctrip indicated floors 3-18, and we ended up on the sixth floor. I wasn't happy with the room; it was too low, the sea view was obstructed, and the lighting was poor. When I asked the front desk to change floors, their responses were inconsistent. First, they said higher floors would cost extra. Then, they mentioned a 20+ floor room with a sea view and twin beds that wouldn't incur an extra charge (but then changed their story when we expressed excitement). Finally, they offered a cooking-friendly room type, which they said still had twin beds and was much larger, for an additional $150/night, totaling $453 for three nights. We decided to go for it, since we'd already come all this way, but we were shocked when we saw the room – it was clearly a king-size bed! Does a sofa count as a bed? After checking out, I realized I'd left my electric toothbrush on the bathroom counter. I contacted the hotel for three to five days, but they kept saying they hadn't found it. Where could it have gone? The hotel's view and cleanliness were good. Anything requested from the front desk was delivered promptly. However, if rooms are available, why does the hotel charge extra for guests who want to change floors when the platform advertises all floors at the same price? And why was the room type different from what the front desk described? It was not twin beds! The front desk training needs to be improved. If higher floors command a higher price, then the platform should not advertise different floors at the same price! This is deceiving customers.

XXiaomi2323Every time I visit the Gold Coast, I stay at the Marriott, and the breakfast is always great. However, the caps on the shampoo and other toiletries can be easily opened, which raises some safety concerns. After 6 PM, there are no staff or services at the pool, and it's not lit. For children with UV allergies who wish to swim in the evening, it's not possible. December is summer in Australia, so it gets dark late. I hope the hotel considers extending the pool's closing time, especially since guests are here for a holiday. Thank you.

GGuest UserThis hotel was conveniently located, making it a great base for sightseeing. Having a supermarket on the first floor and many dining options nearby was incredibly helpful during our stay. The tram station was also close by, making it easy to get around. The room was spacious, more than enough for a couple, which made our stay feel a bit luxurious. The view was good, and having a pool was a nice bonus. While I felt the cost performance was a bit high, there might be a range of prices depending on the room type and floor. On the other hand, the sound of traffic was a minor issue in our 16th-floor room (river-facing). Also, the air conditioning was a bit inconvenient as it could only be used in either the living room or the bedroom, requiring a switch. The washing machine worked fine, but I couldn't figure out how to use the gas stove, so a simple explanation would have been appreciated. It was also a slight disappointment that the indirect lighting (a larger lamp) couldn't be used. The reception staff were courteous, and it was a great help that they stored our luggage. They provided extra towels when requested. Overall, I think this is a highly satisfying hotel for those who prioritize location, room spaciousness, and cost performance.

KKiwi_NomadThe apartment is serviced by Wowstay, not the Mantra Hotel. So the key has to be picked up from a lockbox at the base of the hotel and returned to the same lockbox. It’s a very professional and easy process, however I would recommend when dropping the key off to drive your car from the car park to the front of the Mantra Hotel checkin area. Leave your car there as there is no other convenient / close places to park. Then walk up the stairs around the side of the Mantra building to the lockbox area. The apartment I stayed in was on the 21st floor facing the ocean. It has the same layout as the other apartments with a modern bathroom, large sized bath that looks out over the bedroom, out to the ocean. The main bedroom and lounge have floor to ceiling views. It has a large balcony and great views of the coast. It has an extra large flatscreen TV, nice art work, a full kitchen. It also has a very comfortable leather lounge. There is an open study area that is used as an open bedroom for two single beds. The main bedroom has a king size bed. However I did find it unusual that a single pop-up bed had been made with linen in the same main bedroom. ( it was placed between the window and the end the bed, which obscured the view and took up the rest of the space in the bedroom. It looked out of place, it wasn’t necessary) it was easy to fold up, which I did and I placed it in the other area with the two other beds. I suggest you do the same if this happens to you. Or maybe you can request that it’s not used in the apartment? I will next time I stay. The location is great, central to everything. I have stayed at the Mantra through the hotel a few times before, however it was cheaper through Wowstay and it was as nice as the hotel apartments, so I will stay here again when I’m visiting the Surfers Paradise. The extra bonus with booking this via Wowstay, is that a carpark space is included with the booking, however if you book an apartment through the Mantra Hotel, you will be charged an additional fee.

RRyanRogersStayed here for my partners birthday and service was great. Sara on the front desk was fantastic and so helpful. Very happy with the room and ocean view. Location is great and revolving rooftop restaurant is a must see. Slight downsides were that the car park height restriction is 2.0m and I had called up before booking and was told it was 2.1m so had to remove my roof rack outside reception late on the Friday night we arrived. The shower door leaked a lot causing the bathroom to become a slip and slide and there was a used plaster stuck to the floor as well. Despite this, we definitely stay again as the pool and spa were amazing and very happy with the service and amenities

GGuest UserSurfers Beach Holiday Apartments was a great place to stay for our family. The management was helpful. Rooms were of a good size. The location is quiet. It is a easy walk to catch the G:tram. This makes getting to Surfers Paradise or other locations easy. Riding the G is also much cheaper and easier than trying to find parking for the car. While we were there, there were few people using the pool. Our grandkids had a great time... and mostly had the pool to themselves. I didn't realize there wasn't an elevator.(My fault for not checking.) Being on the third floor normally wouldn't have been an issue. Because of health issues for one of our family members, it would have been easier if we had been on a lower floor. If I had contacted the management when booking they said they would have tried to give us a lower floor. It's a great place and I highly recommend it.

MMelzza23Unfortunately we did not have a great stay. We booked 3 apartments for a family vacation and all 3 had issues. All 3 apartments had faulty air cons. 1 air con didn’t work at all and also a toilet in that apartment didn’t work either. Also when we arrived, we found one of our carparks had a car parked in it and that 2 other guests were allocated the same Carpark as us. We all contacted the letting company and all guests were told to seek help from the apartment reception who then told us all to contact the letting company as they don’t deal with the private apartments and their carparks. So it was back and forth for hours, we even visited the office twice until the car was finally removed. In terms of the no aircon/ broken toilet room, we were told there was nothing the letting company could do about it as they only have 1 staff member on so we’d have to wait for the next day and that some of our cost would be refunded (We are still waiting). The next day, in the morning the staff member visited and said the aircon is broken and they’ll have to find another room so will get back to us. It was close to the letting company’s closing time and we hadn’t heard back so we followed up only to be told there’s no more rooms available and our family would have to make do with the fans. Our family members in the no aircon room got sick from the heat/ stuffiness even with the doors and windows open. The amenities - lagoon, gym and pool are awesome So it was really unfortunate we did not enjoy our stay due to the lack of upkeep of the apartments and the service.
