The installation was very simple. But I already had previous e-SIMs and didn't understand which one to use, and of course, my internet wasn't working. I contacted customer support to find out where the Wi-Fi was (it was already nighttime for us), and they responded very quickly and helped me figure it out! I've never encountered such support! Everything was great, I'll keep using them!

What is an Indonesia eSIM and How Does It Work?
An Indonesia eSIM is a virtual, software-based profile that replaces the traditional micro- or nano-plastic SIM cards. Instead of physically inserting hardware into your smartphone slot, you simply download an encrypted digital file directly to your phone's built-in cellular chip.
Once installed, your smartphone communicates directly with local mobile phone towers across Indonesia, allowing you to access local high-speed data without swapping cards or losing your primary home phone number.
Top Providers of Indonesia eSIM Options
Multiple international platforms and localized providers offer competitive digital data connections across the country:
- Global Travel Platforms (Trip.com): Popular choices for easy mobile apps, flexible top-up options, and fast automated delivery.
- Local Telecom Networks (Telkomsel / Indosat Ooredoo / XL Axiata): Major domestic carriers. International eSIM providers usually partner with these networks to deliver top coverage. Telkomsel offers by far the widest coverage across remote islands like Komodo or Nusa Penida.
Indonesia eSIM vs. Physical SIM vs. Portable Wi-Fi

Deciding how to stay connected while traveling across 17,000 islands? Here is how the main connectivity choices compare:
Feature | Indonesia eSIM | Physical Tourist SIM | Portable Pocket Wi-Fi |
Setup Time | < 3 minutes online | 30–60 min airport queues | Require pickup/return desks |
IMEI Registration | Skipped entirely | Strict passport/IMEI checks | Not applicable |
Hardware Management | 100% digital | Need to swap out tiny SIM cards | Must charge an extra power bank device |
Dual-SIM Support | Active (Keep home line on) | Replaces your original home SIM | Connects via local Wi-Fi |
How to Set Up and Use an Indonesia eSIM

Ready to get connected in Indonesia? Setting up an eSIM is super quick and easy. Here is a simple step-by-step guide to get you up and running in just a few minutes.
Step 1: Check Your Phone First
Before buying your plan, make sure your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked:
- iPhone Users: Go to Settings > General > About > Look for "Carrier Lock". It should say "No SIM restrictions".
- Android Users: Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks to check for eSIM options.
- Quick Trick: Open your phone dialer and type *#06#. If you see an EID number listed, your phone is ready to go!

Step 2: Pick Your Perfect Plan
Head over to Trip.com and choose a plan that matches your travel schedule:
- Short Stay: Staying a week in Bali? Grab a 7-day plan.
- Island Hopping: Travelling longer? Opt for a 15-day or 30-day option.
- Data Tip: Most travelers do great with 1 GB per day for maps, social media, and messaging.

Step 3: Get Your Setup Details
Once you purchase, Trip.com will email you everything you need:
- A QR code to scan for installation
- Simple step-by-step instructions
- Your plan activation details
Important Tip: Make sure you install your eSIM while connected to a stable Wi-Fi network before you leave!

Step 4: Installation Time
Setting up your profile takes less than two minutes:
- Connect to Wi-Fi.
- Open Settings on your phone.
- Go to Cellular / Mobile Data (iPhone) or SIM Manager (Android).
- Tap Add eSIM or Add Data Plan.
- Scan the QR code sent to your email.
- If a pop-up appears saying "Welcome to Billion Connect!", tap OK.
Quick Tip: Rename your new eSIM label to "Indonesia" or "Travel Data" so it is easy to spot later!

Step 5: Get Connected Upon Arrival
When your flight lands in Indonesia, do these 3 quick things:
- Turn ON your new Indonesia eSIM line.
- Set it as your Primary Mobile Data line.
- Turn Data Roaming ON for your Indonesia line.

Essential Tips on How to Choose the Right Indonesia eSIM

Keep these critical travel factors in mind when selecting your plan:
- Destinations & Coverage: If you are staying in popular hubs like Seminyak, Canggu, or Jakarta, any major carrier network works well. However, if you plan to visit Nusa Penida, Flores, or remote dive sites, choose a plan that utilizes the Telkomsel network for maximum coverage.
- Data Volume: Scootering around Bali using live GPS navigation and ordering rides via Gojek or Grab uses roughly 500 MB to 1 GB per day. Pick a 10 GB+ plan for a 10–14 day trip to give yourself plenty of headroom.
Useful Apps & Services Accessible with an Indonesia eSIM
Having uninterrupted data active as soon as you touch down unlocks instant access to local transport and lifestyle services:
- Ride-Hailing & Food Delivery: Book scooter rides, cars, or food deliveries instantly via Gojek and Grab.
- Navigation & Travel: Access offline and live route navigation on Google Maps or Apple Maps, essential when driving rental scooters in Bali.
- Communication & Payments: Chat with tour guides and villas on WhatsApp, or check conversion rates on financial apps like Wise or Revolut.
Major Pros and Cons of Using an Indonesia eSIM
Before making your purchase, weigh these main advantages and considerations:
The Pros:
- Skip strict physical SIM registration rules and long airport lines upon arrival.
- Keep your original physical SIM card active in your phone to receive bank verification OTP codes from home.
- Instantly switch network lines upon landing.
The Cons:
- Requires a stable internet connection (e.g., home Wi-Fi or airport Wi-Fi) during initial installation.
- Most digital travel packages are data-only, meaning they do not include a local Indonesian landline phone number for standard local calls or SMS.

Nusa Dua Bali|16.74km from city centre
The hotel is located within a large complex. There are many restaurants just a street away, and it's a pleasant 10-15 minute walk to the Collection mall, or you can use the scheduled shuttle service. The hotel isn't directly on the beach, but they offer regular shuttle rides to and from the seaside. Most of the hotel staff are very friendly, with the exception of a few at the beach. Every time I tried to buy a coconut at the beach, the staff would say they were sold out. And when I tried to order other drinks, they seemed quite annoyed. The room itself was spacious and very clean. They provide four complimentary bottles of water daily, and you can request four more. Any additional bottles after that come with a charge. During breakfast, you can see many small squirrels being fed from little wooden bowls hung on the trees in the restaurant.FromPKR 36,016

Ubud Bali|22.98km from city centre
This is a premium hotel far outside of Ubud center. Be aware you are about 30 minutes from Ubud if you stay here and there really isn't much to do in the immediate area besides stare at the jungle. Staff was outstanding here with frequent greetings by name and remembering you like a Ritz Carlton.
Because I enjoy regular outings I actually found the location quite inconvenient as an hour a day would have to be devoted just to getting to and from Ubud.
The room I got was enormous and included a dining room, sitting room, bedroom, large bathroom. The in room amenities were great including a free restocking mini bar with snacks (no alcohol) and a large smart TV. The bed was huge, soft, and comfortable.
The bathtub was a downside as it was quite small by western standards (not as small as a japanese tub though). I'm not a very big individual at 173cm and I felt it was too narrow and not long enough. Perhaps suitable for petite individuals only. Be aware of that if like me and many Americans you prefer baths over showers.
The property is very large and you will likely want to regularly use the phone to request the on site golf cart shuttles to get around it as otherwise you will spend much of your time walking uphill from the rooms to the amenities near the entrance like the restaurant and pool.FromPKR 20,220

Jimbaran Bali|14.95km from city centre
We chose this hotel for the last two nights of our Bali trip because it offered excellent value compared to many other resorts in Bali and even other InterContinental properties. The resort itself is huge, with a wide variety of facilities including separate adult and family pools, an indoor gym, a calisthenics gym, beautiful ponds, direct beach access, and very friendly staff. On paper, it seemed like a fantastic choice.
Unfortunately, our stay turned out to be extremely disappointing.
We stayed in room number 4127. On our first night, both of us woke up covered in insect bites despite sleeping tucked under the blankets. Around midnight, we had to spray both the bed and ourselves with insect repellent just to get through the night. The following morning, we reported the issue and requested a room change because we were concerned there might be insects in the mattress. Instead, we were only offered fresh bed sheets and a general cleaning of the room.
Sadly, the exact same thing happened again on the second night. We woke up with even more bites and no longer felt safe sleeping in the bed. We strongly suspected there were bugs hiding in the mattress. We ended up leaving the room in the middle of the night and spent the rest of the night in the hotel lobby because we were too afraid to return to bed.
What disappointed us the most was how the situation was handled. We showed the staff numerous photos documenting the bites over both nights, yet the only compensation offered was to waive a small bill (about RMB 55) for an ice cream and a coffee. Considering we lost two nights of sleep, experienced significant discomfort, and had to spend an entire night in the lobby, this response felt inadequate and did not reflect the level of service we expected.
In addition, the hotel itself feels quite dated. Although it has its charm, many areas appear to have aged significantly. The towels were noticeably worn, wooden fixtures were chipped, and the overall condition suggested the property is overdue for a major renovation.
We genuinely wanted to enjoy our stay because the resort has so much potential. The grounds are beautiful, the facilities are plentiful, and the staff we interacted with were polite and friendly. However, the insect issue and the hotel’s response overshadowed everything else. We hope management takes this feedback seriously and thoroughly investigates the mattresses and rooms so future guests do not have the same experience.FromPKR 42,053

Uluwatu Bali|19.37km from city centre
My stay at Renaissance Bali Uluwatu started with a hiccup, it ended on such a wonderful note that I would happily return.
Due to a system error, I was given the wrong room type upon check-in, and unfortunately there were no vacant rooms available that day. However, the hotel team handled the situation professionally. The very next day, they upgraded me to their best room category as part of their service recovery, which I truly appreciated.
What made the experience even more memorable was the genuine hospitality. The staff noticed it was my birthday and surprised me during breakfast by singing a birthday song. I was touched, although a little awkward too 😅. A special mention to Manager Aldi, who consistently checked in on me whenever we crossed paths around the hotel to make sure everything was going well. That personal touch made a big difference.
The hotel itself is beautiful—perfect for a relaxing getaway. The sunset views are stunning, the ambience is peaceful, and the spacious grounds make it a great place to unwind. My room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast team was efficient and attentive, and the overall service throughout the stay was excellent.
Thank you to the Renaissance Uluwatu team for turning an initial disappointment into such a memorable experience. Your sincere service recovery and warm hospitality truly stood out. I'll definitely be back!FromPKR 45,443

Ubud Bali|15.95km from city centre
An absolutely incredible stay at Alaya Resort Ubud! The resort perfectly balances authentic Balinese charm with modern luxury. Even though it is located right in the heart of bustling Ubud, the hotel environment feels like a completely private, tranquil sanctuary.
The views from the property are stunning—waking up to the lush greenery and the peaceful rice terraces is exactly the kind of tropical escape you hope for in Bali. I stayed in an Alaya Room, which was beautifully designed, spacious, and impeccably clean.
What truly set this stay apart, however, was the staff. Every single team member went above and beyond to ensure the trip was perfect. They were genuinely warm, highly attentive, and showcased the absolute best of Balinese hospitality. Highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a serene getaway!FromPKR 41,515

I chose Sense Seminyak Hotel mainly because of its strategic location—it’s right in front of Eiger and adidas stores, which made shopping super convenient for me. After that, I easily took a Gojek ride to Seminyak Beach to catch the sunset.
The location is definitely a big plus, with everything you need nearby. It’s also a popular choice among travelers because the price is very reasonable for what you get.

Sanur Bali|7.01km from city centre
Prama Sanur Beach Bali is an established resort offering great value for money. Its biggest draw is the private beachfront, perfect for catching stunning sunrises, cycling, and enjoying water sports right from the hotel. The pool is large and surrounded by lush greenery. However, since the hotel has been around for a while, the rooms and bathrooms show their age. Overall, it's a good choice for budget-conscious travelers who prioritize a wide range of facilities and relaxing sea views, and aren't overly particular about the newest amenities.FromPKR 18,318

Overall, my stay was just okay – it was what you'd expect for the price, nothing special but no big surprises either. On the plus side, the service was decent; staff members always greeted me, and check-out was quick. However, there were a few minor issues in the room. The air conditioning was a bit noisy, which might bother light sleepers. Also, the shower had low water pressure and the temperature fluctuated. Cleanliness was acceptable, typical for a standard business hotel. All in all, it's decent value for money if you don't have high expectations.FromPKR 4,135

Location is generally good. Accessible to a lot of locations. Staff can be friendlier considering its a 4 stars hotel. Simple gesture like pressing the lift, helping to open door when car arrive are value added bonuses. Room sound proof is pretty bad. Can literally hear kids laughing sound or the sound from the pool.
Got to take extra note when check out as well. They dont check the room and just discharge accordingly, so if you left item inside, so be it.

Everything about this hotel was exceptional, especially considering the price range compared to other hotels in the area. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed with their kindness, professionalism, and warm smiles. The service was outstanding in every detail.
The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained. Housekeeping was excellent, and the whole hotel had a clean, relaxing atmosphere. The beds were extremely comfortable and we had such peaceful sleep every night.
The breakfast was easily 10/10 😍
Great variety, fresh food every day, delicious options for both adults and children, and everything was presented beautifully. Even the coffee and juices were excellent.
The pool area was amazing ,clean, relaxing, and perfect for families. The hotel is also very family-friendly overall, with such a safe and comfortable environment for children. The staff were incredibly sweet and caring with kids, which made the experience even better for our family.
The location is also perfect: close to everything in Kuta while still feeling peaceful and quiet inside the hotel.
Honestly, compared to other hotels in the same price range around the area, Bintang Kuta deserves a true 10/10 Outstanding rating. It genuinely feels like a much more expensive hotel because of the quality of service, cleanliness, comfort, and attention to detail.
You can clearly feel that the management and staff truly care about the guests and work with passion and professionalism. We would absolutely stay here again without hesitation 🌟FromPKR 8,973

Kuta Bali|11km from city centre
The room was too humid, probably due to the air conditioning, making both the floor and bedding damp. I had to ask for towels to lay on the floor and a new comforter. The soundproofing isn't great, but it was fine for an overnight stay. The breakfast was good, with plenty of eggs. It's a 10-minute drive from the airport and they offer a shuttle service. There's a small supermarket, massage, and currency exchange right next to the hotel, which is much better than the airport's, so that was convenient.
There's a pool, a large lawn, and it's close to the beach, though the beach itself was a bit dirty and messy. You can watch planes land from the beach.
I booked an airport transfer for the next morning and confirmed it twice, being told it was all set. However, when I went down early to wait for the car, it wasn't there. Luckily, I went down early enough that the front desk was able to call a temporary ride.FromPKR 12,612

Ubud Bali|18.62km from city centre
For my second hotel in Bali, I chose the Element by Westin Ubud. Given that Bali is famous for its rainforests in addition to its beaches, and Ubud is the heart of terraced rice paddies, rainforests, and traditional architecture, I opted for a hotel there. However, I won't be staying at this property again.
**Service:**
The staff are mostly young and energetic, with good attitudes. However, my overall experience was just mediocre, mainly due to two issues:
1. During check-in, they recommended a Chinese New Year's Eve dinner. I paid by topping up an account, but then they told me they had no change. It took several phone calls the night before departure to finally get my change back.
2. The Chinese dinner itself was also a letdown. The food selection was limited and even less extensive than the breakfast. Plus, drinks had to be purchased separately. For a buffet at this price point, it was quite unacceptable.
**Location:**
The hotel is quite secluded, about a 40-minute walk from the heart of Ubud. Taking a taxi takes roughly the same amount of time due to heavy traffic. The surroundings are very isolated, so I wouldn't recommend it.
It's a 20-minute drive to the rice terraces.
**Facilities:**
1. I initially booked a pool access room based on pictures, expecting it to be right outside my door. However, upon arrival, I discovered a significant gap: the room was on the same floor as the pool, but I still had to walk a fair distance to reach it. The photos were misleading.
2. The bathroom lacked body lotion and a weighing scale. For a five-star hotel, this felt a bit underwhelming and not quite up to par.
3. Furthermore, some rooms had issues with their sinks, indicating a lack of proper maintenance.FromPKR 29,441

We stayed in a sea view suite on the 2nd floor, but the view was mostly blocked by trees, so there was hardly any sea view. The hotel lobby is on the 3rd floor and offers an open view of the sea. I'd recommend requesting a room on the 3rd floor or higher when booking.
The hotel's public areas are lovely, and the in-room facilities are well-maintained. The overall service experience was excellent; the staff were friendly and quick to respond to our requests. All the hotel's restaurants offer good food, and the beachfront restaurant has particularly stunning views. Breakfast time can get quite crowded and a bit noisy, so it's better to go during off-peak hours for a more pleasant experience. Amazing and flawless 10/10 stay at The Westin Ubud Bali.
From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is pure serenity—nestled in a lush rainforest setting with a breathtaking centrepiece infinity pool that feels like it’s floating in the clouds amongst the serine jungle. Been here for 3 nights for our honeymoon. the staffs were incredibly nice. we are Bali people but we did not get or feel any discrimination at all, they treat us the same as foreigners. they have natural hot spring water pool, it was hot honestly, so we did not go very often. but they have ocean view pool and garden view pool which much cooler. The food was great!! All breakfast food we had never failed to satisfy us. Best of the best was the romantic dinner my husband prepared for me which is great!! Definitely will be back on our next holiday 👌FromPKR 14,845

For just over a hundred a night, you can't expect too much. It's within walking distance of the port, and the captain was incredibly patient, driving for an hour to help us chase dolphins.
The cleanliness was indeed a bit subpar; the towels didn't look very inviting to use.
However, the breakfast was excellent, and surprisingly, it was customized per person!FromPKR 5,458

Check in was smooth. Staffs were friendly.
Hotel is huge, they have 3 blocks. I got the far end of the block which was a little bit away from the reception and the restaurants and the open space for smoking.
In 2 circumstances, i walked up to the room and the door card could not work. This happened in 2 different nights. I had to walk down and got it reset, but the staffs didnt bother to apologise for this. The first time it happened I was okay, but the second time it happened, I got pissed off, because it was a long walk from the room to the reception.
If you order food delivery, it will be a long walk to take your food at the reception.
If you got the rooms at the reception level, I'm sure it will be a great experience like the first time I was there in the Junior Suite, but this time it was not as pleasant.
Thumbs up though for the housekeeping, as the found out I had many shirts lying on the sofa, they brought a small clothes rack and hung my shirts.FromPKR 5,872

The hotel's location is excellent; we could watch the beach sunset from the 6th-floor restaurant. After the sun set, it was just a convenient 5-minute walk to the nearby beach, and the evening glow was beautiful. The breakfast was plentiful, with both Western and Indonesian options. I highly recommend the coconut milk beef soup; its flavor was uniquely wonderful. For dinner, we ate at the 6th-floor restaurant while watching the sunset. We ordered grilled fish, but they didn't have the one on the menu and substituted it with blue marlin. It was grilled so tough it was hard to chew and had no flavor. So, the next evening, we went to the convenient Village Hotel next to the Fox Hotel for dinner, and it was delicious. Just about ten meters out of the hotel alley, at the intersection, there's a small shop selling various souvenirs, which are quite cheap and worth a look. The bottled water provided by the hotel felt like it was refilled, so I didn't dare to drink it. We bought large bottles of water from the small shop for drinking and brushing our teeth. The hotel was very nice; even though they were fully booked, they still allowed us to check out an hour late. Around 1 PM, the hotel lobby was breezy and quite cool.FromPKR 8,973

The hotel is in a great city-centre location, making it convenient to access nearby attractions, restaurants, and shopping areas. The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming throughout our stay. Breakfast was included and offered a wide variety of options, catering to different tastes and preferences.
However, there were several issues that affected our experience. The room description on Trip.com stated that the bed would be either a queen bed or twin beds, but we were instead given a king bed, even though we tried checking in as early as possible so that we can get a twin beds room. Bed type should be clearly specified and guaranteed during the booking process to avoid misunderstandings.
The hotel's carpet is quite old and had a noticeable smell. In one of our rooms, the air conditioner appeared dusty and barely blew any air. However, after we contacted the front desk, the issue was resolved promptly, which we appreciated. The curtains were also not blackout curtains, allowing too much light into the room early in the morning.
Despite requesting a quiet room, we were assigned a room next to the swimming pool. The soundproofing was also quite poor, and we could clearly hear people walking and talking along the corridor throughout the day and night, which affected our rest.FromPKR 5,086

Good day! This was our first time visiting this hotel. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay. Let's start with the pros: nice spacious rooms, a great view, wonderful pillows, and delicious breakfasts. The beach is beautiful with easy access to the water.
Now for the cons: 1. The hotel is starting to show its age and needs renovation, especially the common areas. 2. Beach cleaning was slow. 3. It was difficult to find a sun lounger; if you didn't claim one early in the morning, you risked being without one. There were also issues with towels. 4. The restaurants were very expensive, about three times pricier than those at Bali Collection. There was an incident with our room, and it took a while to resolve the issue. However, to the hotel's credit, they offered us a complimentary meal at the Chinese restaurant as a nice gesture. Also, there's absolutely nothing for teenagers to do; there are no entertainment options for them (no table tennis, no billiards) – nothing at all.FromPKR 80,136

This hotel is a very good choice 👍🏼 I am a little picky, but here’s my review:
Pros:
✅ No damp smell, well ventilated ( I was worried about this)
✅ No insects in the room. There might be some geckos 🦎 (which is normal and expected) but I didn’t see any.
✅ Very clean in general
✅ Comfortable bed
✅ The service is amazing
✅ The staff is very friendly and helpful
✅ The breakfast is very good, there are plenty of choices.
✅ Their restaurant is also very good, in case you don’t want to go out of the resort.
✅ The vibe at the beach is nice and if you like water sports it is also good.
✅ The pool is huge and very nice
✅ Reasonable price (but it will depend on the season and demand)
Cons:
😑 Sound proof can be better, one can hear everyone from the pool (the sound enters from the main door)
😑 The beach is not the best for swimming, and is a bit dirty in general (not the hotel’s fault)
😑 The gym can be better as there are only 3 machines (spinning, treadmill and elliptical) the dumbbells are fine
✅😄 Overall, recommended! I was happy with my stay at this hotel!
It is good to give it a try!FromPKR 36,553

🛎️ Check-in & Staff: Staff were friendly all over the hotel. Check-in was smooth — our room wasn't ready yet, but they kindly offered us a complimentary tea hour at the Khatha Lounge while we waited. A lovely touch.
🛏️ The Room: Spacious, and they had the sofa bed set up for our family in advance. However, our first room was on a corridor that acts as the main pass-through to all other rooms — nearly every guest walks past your door. It was very noisy, especially at night, and got much worse in the evenings with guests staying up for the World Cup games. I had to go to reception very late at night to request a change. Tip: avoid rooms 1502–1510.
👍 To their credit, reception handled it well and moved us to a quieter floor away from the elevator. So in the end, just 1 noisy night out of our 5-night stay.
🏊 Pool: Very large — essentially 4 connected pools, including a dedicated kids' pool (around 40 cm deep) with slides. Perfect for children.
🍳 Breakfast: Very good with a wide variety of options.
💆 Spa: Very nice and clean.
Verdict: A warm, family-friendly resort with excellent facilities and staff who genuinely fix problems when they arise. Would stay again — just request a room away from the main corridor.

We had a wonderful stay at Andaz Bali. The resort is beautiful, peaceful, and very well maintained, with a great balance of modern comfort and Balinese character.
We stayed in the lagoon access suite, which was definitely a highlight of the trip. Having direct access from our terrace into the lagoon was fantastic, and being able to swim all the way to the main pool made the experience feel really special. The suite itself was spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed.
The staff were consistently warm, friendly, and attentive. Alacarte buffet breakfast offered a great variety of local and international options and hand crafted juices and smoothies. Everything we tried throughout our stay was excellent.
Overall, Andaz Bali is a fantastic resort for a relaxing getaway. The combination of the beautiful grounds, excellent service, and the lagoon access suite made for a memorable stay. One of the best, if not the best in Sanur. We'd happily return.FromPKR 82,369

Uluwatu Bali|19.75km from city centre
Pros: The pools are big enough for a relaxed and spacious swim. There's an ice cream cafe, and the place is clean. The staff are friendly, and the room has all the essentials: tea, coffee, and water replenished daily.
Cons: Breakfasts are mostly Asian, and they often try to pass off old food as fresh, especially the potatoes and cherry tomatoes. Very few fruits; only watermelon and papaya for the whole week. Absolutely no variety. A huge downside is the noise! If your room is near the elevator, expect constant banging and humming. You can also clearly hear conversations and other noises from the neighboring room.

Stayed at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve with my family. The hotel lobby is grand and absolutely stunning! Our room was spacious, and the bedding was clean and comfortable. We received delicious welcome fruits and snacks, and there was an ample supply of drinking water. Our Chinese butler, Nessa (Honghong), was incredibly helpful during our two-day stay! She was always responsive to our requests, replied promptly, was understanding, patient, and provided attentive and thoughtful service.
It happened to be Mother's Day, and Nessa helped my son fulfill his idea of surprising me. I received beautiful flowers, a cake, and a thoughtful card from the hotel!
The Indonesian restaurant's breakfast spread was fresh and abundant, offering both buffet and à la carte options. The staff were proactive, polite, and friendly! Nova was particularly understanding; seeing that I liked mangosteen but wasn't sure how to open it, she kindly prepared it for me and brought it over. It was a truly heartwarming gesture!

FAQs about Indonesia eSIM
-
Which eSIM is best for Indonesia?
The best Indonesia eSIM depends on your trip duration and data needs. For most Indian tourists, plans backed by Telkomsel offer the widest national coverage, including remote islands. If you need data for 7 days, a 5GB–10GB Telkomsel-backed eSIM plan is ideal. For longer stays or heavy usage, consider an unlimited data eSIM plan, which typically offers up to 3GB of full-speed data per day before throttling. Always compare plan validity, data allowance, and carrier coverage before purchasing. -
Can I get an Indonesia eSIM from India before my trip?
Yes, absolutely. One of the biggest advantages of an Indonesia eSIM is that you can purchase and install it from India before you even board your flight. After purchase, you receive a QR code via email. You scan this code to install the eSIM profile on your phone. The eSIM will then activate automatically once your device connects to an Indonesian network upon arrival. This means you can step off the plane at Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport and be online immediately. -
Will my Indian SIM card still work alongside the Indonesia eSIM?
Yes. If your smartphone supports eSIM, it almost certainly supports dual SIM functionality — one physical SIM and one eSIM simultaneously. This means you can keep your Indian SIM (Jio, Airtel, or Vi) active for receiving calls, WhatsApp messages, and bank OTPs, whilst the Indonesia eSIM handles all your data needs in Indonesia. Simply set the eSIM as your preferred data line in your phone's settings. -
What is the disadvantage of using an eSIM for Indonesia?
While Indonesia eSIMs are highly convenient, there are a few limitations to be aware of. First, eSIMs do not support voice calls or an Indonesian phone number unless specifically stated in the plan — most tourist eSIMs are data-only. Second, unlimited plans are subject to fair-use throttling (typically slowed to 128kbps after 3GB of high-speed data per day). Third, eSIMs cannot be physically transferred between devices. Finally, if you lose or damage your phone, reinstalling the eSIM on a new device may require contacting customer support. -
What is the best SIM card option for tourists visiting Indonesia?
For tourists visiting Indonesia, an eSIM is widely considered the most convenient option as it can be purchased online before departure, requires no physical SIM swap, and activates instantly on arrival. However, if you prefer a physical SIM with a local Indonesian number for calls, Telkomsel's Tourist SIM (available at Bali and Jakarta airports) is a popular choice for its wide 4G/5G coverage. For Indian travellers specifically, an eSIM is recommended as it allows you to retain your Indian SIM for calls and OTPs simultaneously. -
Can I use my Indonesia eSIM as a mobile hotspot?
Yes, most Indonesia eSIM data plans support mobile hotspot (tethering), allowing you to share your Indonesian internet connection with other devices such as a laptop or tablet. However, hotspot functionality is generally available on fixed-data plans (e.g., 1GB, 5GB, 10GB) rather than some unlimited plans, where hotspot usage may be restricted or count towards the daily high-speed data threshold. Always check the specific plan terms before purchasing if hotspot use is important to you. -
Does an Indonesia eSIM work across all Indonesian islands, including Bali, Lombok, and Komodo?
Coverage varies by carrier. Telkomsel-backed eSIM plans generally offer the broadest coverage across Indonesia, including major tourist islands like Bali, Lombok, and Flores (gateway to Komodo National Park), as well as urban centres like Jakarta and Yogyakarta. XL Axiata and Indosat Ooredoo are strong in populated areas but may have weaker signals in remote regions. For travel to less-visited islands or national parks, a Telkomsel-backed plan is recommended for the most reliable connectivity.
